Been roaming around this forum for awhile, and decided it was time to share my ongoing AoS project that i started a few months ago. So.. A friend got into AoS, and i have always loved WFB but haven't played it for 15years and have neither had the time nor the money to get into WFB again so AoS was a perfect compromise. Not as hardcore, fewer models etc. What army to play? Fast to paint, cheap models... Eternals ofcourse, but they are slightly boring and lack character. I am so sick of the seas of golden armored dudes all looking exactly the same, so i figuered i needed to do something different but not to timeconsuming. A simple headswap, some greenstuffing and a colorscheme leaning more towards a rough copper/brass tint than pure gold. Dug through some bitzboxes and found some Empire and Brettonia heads. So an idea was born. The Stormcast, as far as i know, are fallen human champions re-cast by Sigmars magic, and returned to the battlefield as Stormcast, and so it would make sense if some of them retained their former character traits, faces, heads etc from when they fought for the Empire or Brettonia. To retain some of the Stormcast feel, i opted to paint blueish radiating eyes on open-headed models to symbolize Sigmars magic pulsating through their bodies! I also wanted to incorporate some Empire models, as i love the artillery of the Empire. So i bought 3 cannons, 1 mortar and 1 Hellfire Volleygun, and a bunch of handgunners second hand to make up "the gunpowder section" of my army although i wont use all of the artillery. So far i have managed to paint. 5x Liberators, hammer/shield and prime. 4x Retributors, hammers and prime. 5x Liberators, warblades/shield, grandblade. 1x Lord Celestant on Dracoth. 1x Hellfire with 3x crew. 1x Cannon, 3x crew wip. After the crew for the cannon is finished, i am doing a fifth retributor with converted starsoul mace and a Lord Castellant with gryph hound. That's roughly 1200pts and i will then do some AoS testgames! I will update this thread with more pics as i go, i have loads more to paint. Almost everything is second hand, paintstripped and redone.
