fartsocks
Excuse the dodgy lighting, need to find a better lamp. Anyway, I am trying to paint some slayers with dark skin and neon hair, but can't get the colours to look quite right. Any tips? This is also the first time I've attempted anything more advanced than base coating and a bit of dry brushing, having just come back to the hobby after about 20 years, so I think I need more practice with highlighting too. Double Misfire
Very nice, especially considering the time you've been away. An easy way to make bright paintjobs like this one 'pop' and stand out is by 'blacklining', using a fine detail brush and a pot of Nuln Oil/black ink to very finely define the edge of each area/colour with a thin black line. fartsocks
Thanks. I'll give that a shot.
Ademo
My first thought when I saw this was 'necromunda' - check out some images of house escher and you might get where I'm coming from. The yellow and pink are nice strong tones - I would maybe suggest revisiting the bandana and build up the highlighting in the areas that you feel would naturally catch the light. Yellow is a nice colour in that you can mix in white or cream (ushabti bone or screaming skull etc) to build up. Overall, I think the best advice I can offer on highlighting is simply this - have in mind where the light is coming from and where it would catch.
