I am working on a sample for my idea on the temple floor, but I don’t really know how I like it. I made this by tracing an outline of the Hysh symbol on some pretty crappy poster board that didn’t tear the paper off all the way, but it left a good imprint. Too bad I am really sloppy with my painting Sloppy is good for terrain (imo)

Still, it’s all for teclis, so I think I can practice a bit more. i also got to do a second sample using the dollar store foam board, and will see how that looks side by side. Also made a Papercraft obelisk thing, so I may post some pictured of it later.
Acid_Nine
So another update for those who care! Didn’t really have time for more blocks, will get on it soon. I have worked on two new pieces of the board I would like to play with for the display board. I practiced on the dollar store foamboard with my tracing, and used a sharper tool to draw the symbol on the foam. Will paint it up later. A part of the foamcore did melt when spray painting, I could have sworn I covered everything. also tried a new modge podge and paint mixture. It was mostly paint, some modge podge, but added some baking soda to the mixture to give texture and to add some filler. I also created a monolith made by a YouTuber I linked somewhere else, and can’t find the channel now. It is really good though, even if it was a nick pain in the ****** to put together out of cardboard!
Acid_Nine
I finished my elven Waystone, added more color to the rune, and finally dug the flocking supplies out from the basement and tried flocking for the first time. Covered up the mistakes I had on the waystone, and made me really excited to put moss on literally everything. also have a side by side with my first Hyish floor thing and the second one I did, which turned out better I think. 1

That second one looks a lot better, and I love the way the way stone came out! One thing I could see is putting a little bit more of the moss in kind a vine type thing across that side to make it look a bit more natural. The rune thing really looks great though! I agree the second rune looks better, less curved, but I actually may have an even better way now. Will upload when I have a chance! and I will consider the extra grass on the side, but the thing is supposed to be semi-well cared for. also the rune is backwards due to user error, but that isn't too important now is it? Actually made two more out of cardstock, so i'm excited to paint these next two. it is really different working with cardstock over the cardboard I used, I don't know if it will be better
Acid_Nine
Managed to work on two more pillars and a new Hysh symbol design. One of the pillars and the floor symbol I completely messed up because I decided to try and put 1 teaspoon of baking soda into the primer mix, and it ruined the detail on both of them, so I have to start over. by the way, finally remembered the Youtuber’s name who I got the templates for, which is located here: https://miscastterrain.itch.io/elven-waystone it’s simple, but pretty good! I just wish some pieces fit together better. anyways completed my teclis pillar for my display board, and should get to the larger temple again soon. I like how the flock looked, and even tried to make my own out of Balsawood sandpaper shavings, but they were way too light and just made gross clumps. I can’t get regular sawdust at any store, but I heard online that you can basically use wooden cat litter pellets (that have no chemicles) and come out with the same thing after using a cheap coffee grinder. 1
Acid_Nine
Almost done with my finals, and then I will start working on the big temple and scenery. By the way, does anyone know how to change the title of a thread? Anyways, planning on redoing the Saphery waystone and making it more like my most recent one. I think it turned out the best, and I reworked the symbol so it wouldn’t be mirrored, and has the proper depth. I think that using cardboard/ boxes really is the best way to do this, and the edge work with baking soda and super glue is vital... and I won’t put a whole bloody teaspoon of baking soda in my sealent mixture this bloody time.

You just click and hold on the title and it turns into a text box. Very nice, I like the pillars, how do you get such clean designs? I might try my hand at something similar but more dwarf themed. Thank you on both fronts! the design of the pillars is from Miscast Terrain https://miscastterrain.itch.io/elven-waystone, with some modifications of the rune thanks to my Graphic designer of a father changing the symbols. Also did the saphery one, but may redo that one to be like this pillar.
Acid_Nine
Aaaaaaand finished the latest pillar, will make just one more before I go crazy. Still, really happy with how this one turned out. Also finally settled on the floor symbol. I will just cut out a pice of card stock or cardboard and glue it to the floor, making it a lot cleaner than the tracing. 1
Acid_Nine
Finally got the gold paints I wanted for the statue and floor, and painted my statue for teclis’s grand temple. Hopefully it will look good! Also making one final saphery pillar, but this time I filled the corners with a baking soda and super glue compound to make it look a bit more natural (hopefully) but got the picture of teclis next to the old pillar anyways. Only costs me about 3 bucks of superglue to make these things so it’s good to practice! Going to probably do the floor symbol in gold, but i’m Going to try the Auric armor layer over bronze to see how much I like it. now if only Walmart can restock so I can have more granite grey... 4
Acid_Nine
Alright, finished up what I was hoping to be my final pillar, but I don’t know how happy I am with it. I tried to make the edge on the left smooth but it just turned out to look ‘melted’ to me, something which I didn’t like. I don’t know how I feel about it, but I am kinda getting sick of building these things. Still, want to see what you guys think. also started to work on blocks again, but I had to throw three castings out because I used the improper concrete ratio. Turns out you need around 7 ounces to every 2 ounces water, not 6 ounces. Edited May 22, 2020 by Acid_Nine Forgot to add pictures
Acid_Nine
Guys... I don’t know what the flock I am doing anymore all I know is that I gotta let this stuff dry before dumping it into a coffee grinder and hoping for the best!
Acid_Nine
Well, let the stuff kinda dry and then used a cheap coffee grinder to make some flocking for my armies on display board. Hopefully it will work well! Been bouncing between this, total war warhammer II, and casting blocks for the temple, so I am keeping myself busy until the summer semester starts! anyways, redid the bases with the new stuff. My dad says it looks more natural than store bought, but I still think it’s a bit too chunky. We’ll see, though! Also I gotta do something for the saphery symbol, but I don’t know what yet... 1

I think that both of the pillars look very natural, maybe been left out in the weather for a bit, but maintained to a degree.

Thank you! I just hope they fit in with my board. I finally finished all 13 castings, and it wasn’t as bad as I thought now that I know the ratio to use. Time consuming and I used 7 pounds of my 10 pound bag, but still worth while in my opinion. Plus, kept all the extra stuff this time I may use to make cobblestone roads!
Acid_Nine
Took a day to play Total war II, but also organized the blocks I had for easier assembly. Also put some flocking on a skeleton (black base, so if I put a brown base coat over it it probably would have looked better) just to see how it would look!
Acid_Nine
Long time no update, but I have been... distracted. I worked with more flock, and just need to work up enough courage to start working on the temple (and stop playing ****** rim world...) anyways, I wanted to try and base some of my death models that may or may not be my enemies on my display board. I dunno how I feel about it, so I will ask you guys for your opinion. 1
LuminethMage
Very nice Acid! If you don't like the Hysh sign, the Teclamentari would also be very fitting for a Teclis temple I think. Edit: For the floor symbol I meant. But, for some reason, it didn't show me a lot of the pictures afterwards with all the progress.. So forget about this. Your's looks really nice! : ) Edited June 2, 2020 by LuminethMage

Can’t say smaller because the temple I plan on building is around the same size as my test one as it turns out!
