Dracothjay
Hi guys, so i bought myself the Stormcast Eternals Starter set. Pretty much painted already and have loved every game playing as them. Now i'm wanting to expand my army. As a previous Orruk player, i want to build a very aggressive stormcast list working my way up to the new 2,000 points GW has just released. I love the retributors, as everyone does, so i want at least 2 units of 5 in my list. Also, looking at getting 2-3 units of judicators in units of 5. After this, im bedazzled at what synergy would i want to run as there's a massive choice ahead of me. Advice would be much appreciated. Thanks. amysrevenge
I'd say the best way to move forward, with Stormcasts in particular, is to pick one or two formations and work toward them. Not familiar enough with the selection to pick for you, that that's probably the way to go.
Dracothjay
Thanks for the advice. I have always selected a Lord/Hero i really like then base the army around him, but it's so vast that doing it this way is not always effective.
Nico
Looks like you should either go for Skyborne Slayers or Hammerstrike Force.
Dracothjay
i looked at the Hammerstrike Force and actually really liked it. However, how do the protectors and Decimators fair compare to the retributors? All have the starsoul mace which is nice, but arent ret's most killy? Nico
They are all strong. Because of the Maces, they can all more or less deal with the normal job (of breaking the enemy's best unit or best hammer. The Protectors excel against monsters (and have extra range to poke over an enemy chaff line). The Decimators destroy hordes.
amysrevenge
Depends on what you're up against. Matched Play should see a return of infantry in some numbers, so Decimators might fare relatively better than in days gone by.
Dracothjay
If your going to a game where you dont know what your opponent is bringing, would a good balance be 5 decimatos and 10 Retributors (for the portal from Vex)? Obviously amongst other units.
WoollyMammoth
10 Retributors is a lot of power. You want to have a foot Celestant on hand as well, because his command ability is the best available. The Dracoth Calvary are very good as well. Personally I don't like stormcast formations - most of them for Stormcast are just about teleporting in. Other armies have some interesting choices but I'm not into the stormcast ones.
Marc Wilson
Possibly the most complete stormcast experience is probably the Skybourne Slayers complete with a Prime and maybe the Venator. This gives you pretty much the whole range of tricks bar the Vexillor / Retributors teleporting.
