Lion Rangers - Children of Korhil

So, I wrote a small introduction of the godbeast that stands befind the Lion Rangers and created the different kinds of Lions.

Quote

Children of Korhil

Even if the Lion Rangers and their War Lions are different across all realms in appearance and behavior. So there is one thing that unites them. The deference to Korhil, the great lion.

He is one of the God beasts and forefathers of all the lion beasts of the realms.

Legends imply, that Korhil came from the essence of a great warrior of the World that was and has since populated the realms with his children, the War Lions and Emperor Lions. He is a gigantic but intelligent beast with a white fur and a mane with a rainbow-like color. From the fiery red of he Blaze Lions from Aqshy to the beige white of the White Lions from Hysh, the leafy green of the Leaf Lions from Ghyran to the icy blue of the Frost Lions of Ghur and the purple black of the Shadow Lions of Ulgu and many other species. Many claim that Aelfs who made a union with the great lion were blessed with great courage, strength and fierce temperament.

During the time of the myths Korhil revealed himself to the still young gods Tyrion and Teclis. Both gods sensed something familiar in Korhil but could not explain where they came from. Korhil sensed it too, but kept his past secret. He vaguely remembered that his relationship with Tyrion in his earlier life had led to a break between the two by an event. Korhil revealed to them that he had saved Aelfen souls of bygone times. He gave them to Teclis so that he should forge them as disciples of the lion, because the souls contained his qualities. Then Korhil disappeared and from the souls the first Lion Rangers were born, who formed a uniton with the White War Lions from Hysh. Over the centuries, lion cults were also formed in other parts of the empire among the Aelves, who entered into a union with all kinds of War Lions. Even though the different Aelf peoples often disagreed with each other, Korhil knew that their strength and courage would still be needed in the following centuries.

Great story! Having Korhil reincarnate as a great lion fits the style of the Mortal Realms. I also like that you incorporated the concept of God beasts, they are way too underused at the moment.

But I have to admit, the thought of rainbow colored lions made me chuckle a bit.

Do you plan on writing about the organization of these lion cults?

I think it would fit better than making Korhil a living aelf (after dying in the endtimes). It's strange that we didn't hear much about the godbeasts after the endtimes, but I think it would make the world more interesting if we have gods and godbeasts.

Perhaps I should try to draw him (even I'm not a good drawer, and only having 5 times of lions in the story (and use one of them in this project).

do you mean the organisation of one subgroup or all of them? Normally, for the fanmade battletome I will have to make some organisation description. One problem is, I don't know what GW is planning so this effort could be wasted at the end (even this is a problem in tabletop all the time).

If you make it and play it and enjoy doing both then no effort has been wasted. At the end of the day this is a creative and social hobby so if what you do inspires you and others to make, talk about and innovate new ideas you've spent your time well.

Also rainbow lions made me smirk too.

I quite like the godbeast angle here as it's something cool GW created then dropped to go describe more stormcast battles (the god beats book is misnamed, sadly). So your Lore has the Lion Rangers as an almost shamanistic order that primarily reveres Korhil the Ur-Lion and his children. There's a lot of room there for fun schisms and treachery.

Beats the current Lore of 'Aelves who like Lions and Axes'.

Very cool and intriguing take on Korhil and the origins of the Lion Rangers. As a fan of the faction (and your battletome) I like this addition of creativity. It's sorely needed.

Keep up the great stories. They are highly enjoyable.

I would say it's some sort of cult (actually I would see somethink like that for Phoenix Temple, too and lexicanum mentioned the "Ur-Phoenix" as a speculative Godbeast). I don't know what GW is planing, but I think a being with knowledge of the world that was and former leader of such a group, collecting lost souls and creating the first cult that way sounds more plausible than "hey, here was a bubble were some aelfs survived".

And I left room, that there could be multiple Aelf cultures having such cults, represented by the rainbow mane.

Do you mean the Novel or the campaign Book. Haven't read the Novel yet, but the campaign book featured Argentine the Silver Wyrm, Behemat the World Titan, Dracothion the Great Drake and Ignax the Solar Drake (okay the drakes were also part of All-Gates)

Thanks, where are your Lion Rangers coming from?

I have to see, what faction will get new stories next. I still have Stormcast Eternal Stories that aren't translated, yet and also a Story that mixed of Frostaelf, Fyreaelf and Shadowaelf characters (also not translated yet).

I really hope the wording is good enough because english isn't my first language (and most stories are written in german first and than translated).

My current army background revolves around the lion rangers joining a messenger contingent of swifthawks travelling the realm of Ghur. In my mind I have imagined Ghur to be like Norther Canada and I plan on painting my lions to look like the Canadian lynx.

The translations are fine. Nothing is being lost and the idea's are quite clear.
