  1. To be honest, if you paired it with locus it is pretty much a doble activation in a lot of scenarios.
  2. I don't think that is that big of a deal. And to be honest, most sylvaneth players are so used to 1 drop that it will take some time to adjust. I don't think the army itself has an underlying issue (competitively speaking), or atleast not one i would dare to speak about so soon.
  3. Everyone is chill. And noone has stated they are convinced about the power level of the book. What are you on about ? If you want i can provide you the text for NH and SC if that helps (even tho i already told they have the same wording, so it should suffice to had read the sylvaneth one), but you are getting pretty defensive for something as silly as this. Everyone makes small mistakes when reading a rule they haven't read before, and jump into excitement to share their findings, i can say it has happened to me more times i would like to acknowledge, and there is nothing shaming on that.
  4. I mean, we both know the writing was done as a restriction to how many units we are allowed to place in reserves, i mean that wording isn't even new, that's the wording for Stormcasts eternals and for nighthaunt for example. You can choose to read it like you please, since GW isn't know for their precise writing, but i don't think we should entertain this idea because we know that's not how it works. And to be honest, you can say that's not what it says, but i don't think that's true, it might be ambiguous if you attempt to shoe-horn into your definition, but it says that for every unit set up on the table, you can place one unit in reserve. That's a clear cut restriction on how many units you can place in reserves since you have already been told when you can place those units in reserve (when you are going to deploy a unit). There isn't a single indication in there directly written where it tells you that you can alter the way alternate deployment works.
  5. That's not how it works. The restriction on how many units you can place in reserves is given by how many you have already placed. The point is, that you need a unit already in the table to be able to deploy something in reserve. For example it is typical to first place your reserves to avoid placing units in the table before your opponent has deployed some of his units. This stops you from it, and also gives you a restriction on how many units you can stay in reserves (and for how long).
  6. Sry i deleted most of the content in your post. Most of it comes down to if sylvaneth will be good or better competitively speaking. That wasn't the point i was conveying, but gameplay wise it loses some thematic flavour and coherence that the new book won't achieve in the same vein. Will they be fun to play ? I am sure they will. Will they be competitive ? That will take time to decide since they don't have obvious crazy mechanics like Slaneesh summoning, DoK's output, FEC terrorgheists, etc.
  7. I hink people are being overly optimists about gnarlroot etc. I am not saying the new battletome is going to be bad, but most of the strengths of Sylvaneth was that despite being an old battletome, it had top notch battallions so it could be played in a variety of ways that were interesting and clearly distinct. None of the new rules that substitute for some of those battallions. I mean dreadwood withouth the strats is no longer the dreadwood we knew. Gnarlroot withouth extra casts isn't the gnarlroot we knew(i don't know why its bonus wasn't +1 to cast or something like that, instead of rerolls...). I am sure the book will have viable builds, but it will be more streamlined than before. But the thing that annoys me is the nerf to the wyldwoods. I already hated that they changed the deadly terrain rule to being irrelevant.
  8. It's because of the weapon always dealing MW. When you score extra hits, they are "diceless" hits. Any extra hit generated as such is not counted as a 6, just as a hit, and that's why Crystal Touch generates extra MWs, because that's the weapon's profile for its hits.
  9. It won't change. A save roll is a roll where you use your save attribute. Duty.... is a roll you do to negate wounds, but it's not a save roll since it doesn't use your save attribute.
  10. And for some it never came out. *sobs while hugging a tree*
  11. To be fair, this problem is very small in AOS aswell, since most units have simple profiles and little weapon choices. One that comes to mind are arkanaut's weapons that only come with one of each weapons in the sprues if i am not mistaken. I have zero problems with peoplee telling me that all their special weapons dude are just skyhooks. 40k is a much bigger offender in that regard, since most units have different weapons and special weapons loadouts and combinations, that might make it really hard to follow if not properly represented.
  12. Most of the issues about people trying to exploit a soft wysiwyg are solved just by the opponent reading the list before the battle, which takes a few seconds. If your tournament doesn't check the lists and provide them printed afterwards, i can understand it, otherwise it's quite pointless because age of sigmar is extremely simple when it comes to weapon loadouts.
  13. Handicapping yourself to have a fair game (which will not) can feel that's insulting towards the other player. It's not only the list, many people are just bad players, and that's fine, but even if you handicap yourself listwise, experience and expertise most of the time will trump your opponent, not only because you are a better player, but because his list is already handicapped. There is no real competition in there, so i don't really think "as a competitive player" this will feel interesting at all. Atleast it has never been for me. I can play against utterly broken lists with a good pilot behind it or against someone with a better list than me but who is not a good pilot, 10 out of 10 times facing the good pilot will be the most interesting game, no matter the powerlevel difference in both lists. To be honest i like to play competitively, and i only like to play games where both opponents are on the same page. This is a hobby from where i want to get enjoyment, and when i am playing i will enjoy trying to do good plays and outplay my opponent, and I won't be able to play poorly only to "cheat" the other guy by doing poor movements or target priority on purpose. I know i will be unable to do that, so i don't play that way.
  14. It happens the oppossite to me. The last batches are my worst painted minis because i am already bored to death.
  15. To be honest, all that sounds well and dandy, but many armies don't have the magic/shooting support to deal with leaders efficiently in one volley. And in combat, thanks to the wonderful locus rule, that's even harder to accomplish to many armies withouth attack at the beginning of the combat phase. Don't get me wrong, 1w MSUs actually deal well with Slaneesh shenanigans, and that's what i play, but i honestly think that slaneesh shouldn't be able to summon heroes. An exalted chariot costs you 15 Depravity points, but you are getting back 9 if it doesn't do a single thing. That's a steal. Removing 6 leaders before they get to summon more leaders is a self-defeating task, and you also have to score. There is not much to say, people are trying to downplay how good slaneesh is right now because it kinda feels like it is "too soon". You have the right to think that way, like i don't think you need to play 100 games to see that there are things fundamentally broken about how Slaneesh summoning works, most armies have some sort of caps on how many resources they can achieve to summon or how to use them.
  16. Even worse that there are plenty of people who bought it only to sell it on ebay.
  17. Good for you, i have zero looncurse and no chance on getting any box
  18. Simple question guys, sorry to bother, can you choose Drycha's swarm type before each battle ?
  19. Even a 6man unit will have a hard time surviving lol.
  20. That's actually want i am thinking. Drycha for horde clearing, since hunters aren't that efficient at that, tree revenants as chaff disposable units and a lot of kurnouth hunters with bows and the new character to reroll 1s on them. Hopefully next month when i get my boxes i can start playtesting it.
  21. Right now ? Yeah no reason at all. With the battletome, maybe? If i worked at games workshop i would force people to switch from dryads to spites and revenants for sure.
  22. Shooting needs a buff yes. Not only the point increases destroyed it, but like it was stated before BLoS from citadel Woods and plenty of absolute melee monster that can charge turn 1 with flying (eels, TZ, etc), or very durable units where shooting won't be enough to stop them. It's too soon to speak, but i expect allegiance, wargroves and battallions to change a lot of how the army is played. About swords against scythes. Even with the change i don't expect to see swords except on MSU. Scythes get more benefits from the +1 attack than swords, but the 2" range was always the dealbreaker, and a 6-9 man kurnouth unit will use the new command ability much better than swords. I am hoping that some allegiance/wargrove/battalion or whatever improve the shooting capabilities of kurnouth hunters to be honest.
  23. Since i already have one citadel woods... that's great news
