  1. I think I'm finding myself in the "sharks are objectively worse" club, though without a view of the full battletome it's hard to know where they'll end up. The 2 extra wounds weirdly feel like a nerf due to the loss of Leviadon buff and cover, and the points increase, while justified if running the harpoon, makes the net (which I've always run) just more expensive for no extra benefit. I still think they're a good unit, and the 3" coherency combined with the net makes them great for messing with people, but it's a harder sell. I'm excited to try 10 general-battleline Reavers sat in a boat on an objective, however. Alongside the increased range on Thralls for only 10 extra points, Namarti stocks are looking strong.
  2. All Stormdrakes are on 105mm, the 2 named big-boys are on 180mm. FYI, all bases sizes can be found under the "description" section of any mini on the Games Workshop website.
  3. Every list I've seen that has done well in tournaments has either included Liberators or Vindictors. Vindictors in particular seem like the superior choice for Stormkeep armies or any amounts of reinforcing due to the range. They are not "not as good" as Liberators, as much as people in this thread seem to claim they are, they just perform a different role. You will absolutely not lose games because you chose to take them over Liberators, providing you play to their strengths - just like any other unit whose warscroll/points aren't completely off (hello Vanquishers). Also, I'm highly suspicious of all these claims that the dragons are going to be rewritten. I remember reading that the points jump was the change they were going to receive in the winter FAQ, we just got it early so it wasn't a feelbad when it happens after people stocked up on them. I'm ready to be wrong here, but it sounds like a lot of doomsaying with no evidence to back it up, usually from the same select few posters too.
  4. Each individual model counts as a monster, so yes, the first one that dies per turn gives away a point.
  5. I modelled mine with the hook and the trident instead of the spear. Bit of a mix but visually it works well for both.
  6. And to make matters more confusing the current app doesn't even let you pick an option at all! Speaking of options, how are people generally running their Leviadons? I thought Reverberating Carapace was the go-to for extra flexibility with the range, but Ancient is obviously great too. Also can anyone else chip-in to my previous question about Volturnos taking mount traits? I really don't think you can, and I really don't think you can take a Leviadon AND a Deepmare trait without paying for additional enhancements through battalions.
  7. With your spare points you could drop 1 unit of Liberators and reinforce your Judicators. Would make a a great target for Thunderbolt Volley. Also someone mentioned using them to soften up screens before your Annihilators charge - maybe don't do this. They can easily start removing models closest to them and suddenly your 7" charge is a 9/10" charge which you're going to struggle to make.
  8. Whenever I'm writing lists now, like has already been said, I find it very hard to include Morrsarr. The only time I feel it's "worth doing" is taking 1x3 or 1x6 with a Soulscryer, and in most cases I just opt for the 1x3. Now, spending 335 points on an alpha strike is probably bad damage per points on paper, however I find the value in making your opponent reconsider their deployment and use resources protecting their small (10 or less wounds) heroes is quite worthwhile. As @vinnyt said, it's just another avenue of "disrupting your opponent's line of play". Saying this, I really hope Morrsarr get a rework in the next book. At this pricepoint there's really no reason their Biovoltaic Blast ability should be once per game. Considering we're likely to lose all of our RR1's next book, we'll need the boost.
  9. So I have a question to throw out there which I thought I knew the answer to, until I saw the only Idoneth list used at Mancunian Carnage: https://tabletop.to/mancunian-carnage-resurgence/lists I thought, as a unique character, that Volturnos did not have access to mount traits, yet the person who brought this list is using Voidchill Darkness on him. Which is correct? In truth, this doesn't effect 90% of the lists I write because running without a Leviadon seems like a bad move, they have access to very desirable mount traits and I prefer to run one-drop instead of extra enhancements, however it's worth knowing when list building. I would usually refer to the app for this, which currently shows you can't assign him one. However, the app also doesn't allow you to assign one to the Leviadon, so... 🤷‍♂️
  10. I only started collecting them as my second army in mid 2019, and since then Covid happened and I haven't had many chances to play them until recently. Following the lists being played etc. however, I can say that BR: Morathi and AoS3 have really mixed up the lists and how they play quite significantly. Being able to field the exciting centre-piece units like the Leviadon and Eidolon's have really helped them feel way more diverse than pure eel spam. They play the game better instead of just charge and kill, with support pieces, Allopex's and Ishlaen Guard being the main meat of most lists. There's even people saying Reavers are the new hot-stuff, though I'm not brave enough to try it yet. The army definitely needs some changes in the next book. Rerolls and warscroll command abilities seem to be disappearing with the new tomes, which could be very damaging for what makes Idoneth work on the table, and I'm sure everyone has some wishlist ideas (mine being 5 wound eels for objective capturing, 2" range on Thralls, a rework of Morrsarr MWs and hopefully some new units) but until then, Idoneth seem to be in a good enough place to be fun to play and hold their own. But that's just me, I'd be interested in hearing what others think. 🙂
  11. Pick a unit within 12" of an enemy who can do a charge and roll for it. If successful, you have to move that unit and complete the charge (including any abilities that trigger on the charge) before moving onto your next eligible unit. So, unfortunately, you can't wait to see if others are (un)successful before committing to the charge.
  12. Solid list at 750. My only suggestion would be to build the King as Volturnos and use him as a King with the sword. The polearm is actually better on the king, but you'll get more mileage out of the model if you can use it as both down the line. Of course, if your group is chill enough about it, you could just say he has the polearm despite looking like Volturnos. I know I don't have time to build and paint 2 kings, but everyone's different!
  13. I find it really hard to include large numbers of Morrsarr now. I had 3 sets painted and 3 more built but I'm now converting those back into Ishlaen. Every time I write a list and try to include Morrsarr, I end up having 1x3 with a Soulscryer and fail to find where I can include more. Though I must admit, I like having those 3 with a Soulscryer, people play differently knowing that's waiting for them off the board. Of course, that combo can easily be replaced by the Celestant Prime for less points, and with his new 4+ Ward it's mighty tempting...
  14. I've run a similar list with great effect. Personally I would run all of the Allopexes with nets, I really rate the no pile-in when you're playing with so few bodies. Also, could be worth considering Aetherwings to fill in those last points?
  15. Honestly, unless she's flipping the tides as your general the Tidecaster is not worth bringing. I really see no point in trying to compete in the magic game with IDK, if you can call what she does competing. You have the leftover points for an Allopex, bring that with a net instead. I agree, it requires the stars to align and we simply have better tools. Though those support pieces can perform on their own (minus Lotann). I'm more interested in trying just 10 out. If you're playing a battleplan with an objective in your territory, spending 115 points on a unit of 10 garrisoned in your ship 3" away from the objective seems like a good use of points. It counts as 10 bodies on the objective and you can do the 9" unleash hell for all models measuring from any point of the ship, relying less on good positioning with each model. Saying that, I would like to see someone pull off the 20/30 blocks effectively. 😃
  16. Not really for a few reasons: a block of 30 Reavers require them to be battleline, they're only battleline if you have an Isharann general. If you wanted to do that, you'd then need 2 more lots of Namarti battleline, which means you can't have the Born from Agony King and you'd be well over the 2k budget to fit the rest in. Change it to a 20 block of Reavers and you might have something, however.
  17. Nighthaunt and a Coalesced Seraphon "monster mash" list. Both of which have elements that weaken us (ignore rend, -1 damage) and strengthen us (hordes to net, rr wounds to monsters with Dhom-hain). But they were ultimately friendly games where we were relearning, and both were close. Might be time to look at some new dice that aren't weighted for 1s! 5x 2+/2+/-2/3 attacks, plus his other melee profiles should easily do 10+ wounds per charge. Plus he heals loads and with the cloak, people want to deal with him but struggle to work out how. I really rate him. 👍
  18. Me and some friends met up for some AoS3 practice over the weekend. I managed to fit 2 games in while we collectively poured over the new rules. I played the following lists: Managed to fit the first into the 1 drop battalion and the second was 2 drops (put the Morrsarr separately with the Soulscryer in the sea). I didn't manage to play a lot of Deepkin in AoS2, started collecting them shortly before it all happened, but I managed to win both games, though both opponents weren't playing mega competitive lists. A few take-aways I found: The Leviadon still feels worth the points. Reverberating Carapace really helped to keep the buffs managed, too. Coupled with Ishlaen, I was regularly having 2+/3+ unrendable eels tying units up (and hitting respectably back, too). The Eidolon of the Storm is great in the new edition. His +1 wound aura made a lot of the akhelians 2+ rr1's against monsters, it's so reliable. He's a great hero to use heroic actions with, too. And if he really gets into too much trouble, just pop the cloud of midnight. But I'd say the strongest thing we have right now is the net on the sharks. The new coherency rules make it oppressive. Netting units of 10+, sticking a hard hitting model (Leviadon or Eidolon) right on the end of the unit and just going all out while only being hit back by 1 or 2 models is probably a bad experience for your opponent, but great for us. I even managed to net a large unit, charge a hero with morrsarr and tag the big unit within 3", keeping them in combat with no retaliation. All in all, based off those 2 games (which isn't much to go off, I know) I think we're in a good spot with Akhelian lists, but I fear the new edition will just drive us further from Namarti. I would love to hear what others are running, and to see if people are feeling the same about the Eidolon and Leviadon.
  19. Mount traits are specifically listed under enhancements, so I don't see that changing. I never got to play with -1 to hit Volturnos, which is a shame, but at least we still have Ancient Leviadons. Is anyone else finding it hard to fit together lists since the points changes? I feel not including a Leviadon and Eidolon of the Storm feels like bad list writing but then there's very little room for bodies. And until they change the Thrall's range I feel the coherency rules really punishes including them.
  20. Has anyone been able to figure out where we stand with mount traits? If I'm reading it right we can only take 1 (unless our battalion allows an extra) and Volturnos is no longer able to have one. Is anyone able to confirm this?
  21. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but until we get a new tome I do believe we lost a ship. The book says we can take a "maximum of two Etheric Vortex terrain features". The rules say "your army can include 1 faction terrain feature". 1 does not contradict "a maximum of two", so unfortunately I think we need to shelf that second ship for now. It doesn't even sound like you can play split ships any more. Feel free to tell me if I'm wrong, as I'd prefer to be!
  22. It was only recently changed to +1 save, it used to be cover. Until AoS3 rules came in, this meant t1 we got cover +1 (so +2). Now that saves are limited to +1, we're back to being stuck with +1 t1. Though the Leviadon's save still applies on the charge, if you're doing that turn 1. So we have Volturnos's CA limited to 1, less hordes to chew through (theoretically), thrall stonks going down, reaver stonks going up(?) sharks counting as 2 on objectives, eels able to to use CA's on themselves, and the big winner is the Soulscryer now able to dispell endless spells and chant prayers (including curse, which will work wonders with the volume of attacks from eels). Any other big adjustments that people have noticed?
  23. If you miss with 1 net launcher shot, you do 0 damage. If you miss with 1 harpoon shot, you still (can) do 2 damage. That, coupled with several units (BCR, Gotrek etc.) reducing the damage of abilities means there really is never a case you would take the net launcher. On paper they're the same, in practise the harpoon will be better in most cases.
  24. Thralls and Reavers kits are seperate, so you can only build what you buy. Unless you're going to be doing some very heavy handed converting. Both have their merits, though. Generally people will say Thralls, but Reavers aren't much worse in comparison.
  25. Both Eidolon's and the Leviadon down by 40 points, Sharks downs by 20 points in today's winter update. Could this offer some variety or is it still not enough?
