  1. Exactly, the Throne is a cool piece but using it as a Skullcannon has more benifits for a player who gets into AoS. As Agent of Chaos mentioned, you basically then get a Skullcannon, Bloodherald on foot, plus the Throne thing can be used for objective markers. In pretty much all scenario's I think that's a better 'deal'.
  2. Thats a loooot of Crushers, but I get the idea behind it. I personally think Blood Hunt is a steal without that many Bloodcrushers still, so I'm still focussing on a list with 2 units of them, 1 unit of 10 Fleshhounds, 1 unit of 5 and a Wrath of Khorne Bloodthirster. Still leaves room for a lot of additional stuff. On paper Bloodcurshers are good shock units, but after that their output isn't really good enough, so in the end I might just end up with 2 fat units of 10 Fleshhounds. I agree with you on DoK, and I agree with you that we can't really worry about that either. We deal with the cards GW serves us after all. Looks cool to me, I do wonder if you need or want that second unit of Blood Warriors. I have the feeling a list like this could really use 10x Fleshhounds as a unit to support the Bloodthirster with or in general then have two units with some good movement. Otherwise I like it a lot.
  3. As before I don't think Gore Pilgrims is a crutch or used to be, but it has become now because slowely all the other good alternatives are dissapearing. Much like some would say Bloodletters are a crutch or used to, which isn't the case, but now you will see less and more commonly the use of 10 Skullreapers. Which in turn would be marked as a crutch if either Gore Pilgrims or Blood Hunt/Council of Blood would have increased costs. More likely however Bloodthirsters will be more expensive as they used to be. Honeslty my best advice on a Daemon Battalion at this moment would be Blood Hunt. Provided you have 15-20 Fleshhounds available to you Because it boosts the Wrath of Khorne Bloodthirster, Bloodcrushers and Fleshhounds, which pretty much are the main reason to thake Daemons I suppose... Hi and welcome! Good to have you here! The Wrath of Khorne Bloodthirster is the best Bloodthirster General we have, you could include others next to it, but if you want one, WoK is the way to go. Immense Strenght also gives it the damage output you're looking for. The attacks can be found with a Bloodsecrator near enough to it. As a small review in your army sketch, I'd keep it 'maxed' at 30 Bloodletters, perhaps additional 20 for summonning, I know some like the Daemon Prince but for Khorne I'm not sold on it. The Bloodsecrator is an obvious must, 6 Bloodcrushers are a solid plan but I would skip on Skull Cannons. If you get two Start collectings I'd go for one Skull Cannon and one Throne of Blood, you'll rarely use either of the two but technically can summon them this way Things you certainly want to add to that list now are 10 Fleshhounds. consider more, 10 Bloodwarriors, 10 Skullreapers, 5 Wrathmongers, double Bloodstokers or offcourse Slaughterpriests for Gore Pilgrim lists. Cheers,
  4. On the subject of Blood Tithe points, I really never save up to 7 or 8, and then when it randomly/rarely happens you use it for the best options possible. But that still is a rare occurance because to me that stuff only really ever happens in A) Multiplayer games or B) Games that are very lopsided, so either we get obliterated or somehow an opponent allowed us to fully eat to multiple small units. I believe that the best uses for Blood Tithes still are found in the following: - Bloody Examplar, still depends on the list offcourse but with WoK Bloodthirsters and sufficient Daemon units this still can be scary - Spell Eater Curse, it's one of the few tools we have that can still be great versus LoN and Tzeentch - Murderlust/Apoplectic Frenzy - Summon 5 Fleshhounds, 10 Bloodletters, 20 Bloodletters - Lastly offcourse when it happens you can use the 7/8 effects, I just wouldn't save up for it, too much goodness is gained from spending it early, too much is lost when trying to save up Perhaps in new books/futures it will work out a bit differently. We'll have to wait and see. What I want as soon as possible is have acces to Fleshhound boxes Ideally a seperate Karanak too. The old Fleshhounds are still cool to use for summonning, keeps it clear what's part of the army initially and what's not. Cheers,
  5. Hey, well I like the list above, but I think Karanak might be a little too expensive to include (assumming your using the latest 160 point version of him). Other than that, it's pretty much a great list. I do think that you could indeed skip on the Bloodsecrator and ideally fill slots left with more Fleshhounds. The Bloodcrushers are cool. This way pretty much anything can go anywhere. Having said that, I still think it isn't an easy to play list, certainly can get into trouble when Bloodthirsters find themselves stuck in tarpits but otherwise is very cool. A Bloodstoker will probably help you more as a Bloodsecrator in this case aswell. To speed up a Bloodthirster.
  6. Sounds great man, yeah I think that Warshrine will come, if anything it's a nice looking centerpiece in a Mortal army. On top of that I also think that the 2019 trend will be 10x Fleshhound units and I also hope to see more Bloodcrusher use, as is I think it's one of the best support units we have after all, with an effectively build in Slaughterpriest MW shot... In any case I think fun is the way to go for Khorne. Speaking of nice Gore Pilgrims lists, the winner of Cancon had a very simple, very effective list also. I like it a lot. I guess it's time for me to consider a second Bloodthirster aswell, for the simple reason that with double Command Abilities they are one of the few Flying pieces we have that also still have that shock factor. Link to the list: https://thehonestwargamer.com/aos-list-rundowns/matt-campbell-blades-of-khorne/?fbclid=IwAR1vrJvUbDnnrHyGmYSrLEANdE_QlWId6pEjTtXn8khObNW5L3ljPoVcSfA And if he's reading, congrats to Matt Campbell! BLOOD FOR THE BLOODGOD Cheers,
  7. That Warshrine looks great man! I think 10 Skullreapers are somewhat of the reason I think mortal heavy armies can still deliver a punch. I also agree with you that at that stage Wrathmongers seem less needed. And yeah I don't think tournament winning lists should be on any Khorne's players mind. For sure it's still possible but it's less likely to occur as in AoS1, let alone with Wrath and Rapture in mind The plan I also have for my own Warshrine will likely be a little more expensive and maby strange as usual. As I plan to get the Slaughterbrute for it, place a throne of the Council of Blood somewhere and have a Slaughterpriest stand on top. I always liked the Slaughterbrute model, don't know if it's any good for this edition but think the model alone excuses the use. Luckily he has the same base size as the Warshrine so if I point it out clearly enough (and convert it enough) I hope players won't have an issue with it. Cheers! Well, I must say it doesn't feel 'fun', as it's the fifth nerf in a row for the army since it's inception. While I can understand the reasoning, I think that tournament results have shown (again) that priority of nerfing shouldn't really be that focused on Chaos, this time it has been unexpected as well, at least for me. Feel free to claim the influence for the Fleshhounds haha! I havn't really looked at the forums in a while, other than glancing at some posts. The aim for the Blood Hunt list was really to thake the units that got the minor buffs and try to make that work. As in a way I think it can compensate for the nerf Bloodletters recieved. On top of that I always liked the concept of Fleshhounds. Hope the new plastic ones will be out soon in a boxed set, as I only have 15 old ones and that isn't enough I feel. At least not if I aim to summon them too. Immense Power indeed seems like must on the Wrath of Khorne Bloodthirster still. I think the Crimson Crown is now less interesting? Other than that I agree with the Brazen Rune, I also heard that there is an artefact that keeps a unit save (for once per game) untill it attacks, this might help with the squishyness of the WoK versus larger units too? I think I largely agree with you on the use of Bloodsecrator, but I still like it as the army is mixed. The idea is to have a initial and secondary wave of attacks. If this means the Bloodsecrator can run turn 1 it seems okay with me. As it would then affect a large ammount of models, this is the aim at least. Cheers,
  8. Thank! Ill reconsider those pieces. A lot has happened in my personal life, I still check the topics but usually post less. On top of that the recent alterations to Bloodletters did set Khorne back a peg for me aswell. I think that it's time to make a really cool Khorne Warshrine however! I think that the Wrathmongers might indeed be better at their place in a different list.
  9. @Agent of Chaos thanks for the write up, great read, good to see confirmation on several units their viability and functionality. As stands I still have a closet full of Khorne so I might aswell give another fun swing at the hobby, I still love the models and army concept after all. Would love to hear some ideas and feedback on these lists, especially as I still have a lot of catching up to do. The main plan is to go for Gore Pilgrims (for when I want to play mainly Mortals) or Blood Hunt (for when I want to play more Daemons). I also like the concept of running Council of Blood but I still reall like to have more units/infantry/cavalry as monsters. Blood Hunt: [ Blood Hunt 180 Wrath of Khorne Bloodthirster 320 10x Fleshhounds 200 5x Fleshhounds 100 3x Bloodcrushers 140 3x Bloodcrushers 140] Bloodsecrator 140 Bloodstoker 80 Bloodstoker 80 30x Bloodletters 320 5x Wrathmongers 180 [20x Marauders 120] 2000/2000 So here I'd love some advice on current good Realm Artefacts, or if I should go for the Artefacts Khorne has to offer. On top of that I now decided to include 30x Bloodletters because I have them, Another option could be 10x Skullreapers and 5x Fleshhounds instead of the 30 Bloodletters and 20x Marauders, then an option to consider is also to use 10x Blood Warriors and 40x Bloodreapers. In this case the Marauders are there to add some backline body, I don't think they are a bad choice. They are equipped with shields. At this moment I am not certain what is best, I think Bloodletters because of the Daemon synergy and Command Trait from the Bloodthirster. I'd love to know what kind of set up you guys use for the Wrath of Khorne Bloodthirster these days. I think equipping the Bloodsecrator with a Brass Rune isn't bad, despite the Unbind units I have. Gore Pilgrims: [Gore Pilgrims 200 Bloodsecrator 140 Slaughterpriest 100 Slaughterpriest 100 Slaughterpriest 100 10x Bloodwarriors 200 40x Bloodreavers 240] Bloodstoker 80 Mighty Lord of Khorne 120 10x Fleshhounds 200 10x Skullreapers 340 5x Wrathmongers 180 2000/2000 As above I'd love to see some fresh perspective on Gore Pilgrims, I'm willing to try 10 Fleshhounds here again to at least have a unit with a decent Movement, which ideally will be sufficient to allow the rest of the army to catch up. I do think I have sufficient bodies. It might be even smarter to go deeper into the Bloodreaver swarm and perhaps consider addtition support with a Chaos Warshrine. At this moment I'd just like to know some experiences with Gore Pilgrims or the big blob of Skullreapers. Again as always, thanks for the feedback, cheers! Blood for the Bloodgod!
  10. Cool horde Dickbill! Go for it. I do think you might want to sneak in a Chaos Shrine in somehow.. Though I'd agree that Wrathmongers can do this too. An alternative would be to: - Change Khorne Lord for Khorne Lord on Juggernaut 120/140 - Change 10 Blood Warriors for Chaos Warshrine 200/160 This is my issue with it, GW has shown they do understand how to design armies with similar power levels, Khorne was on that place. Then for better or worse there are some within that design team who stop looking at army context and just throw out stuff. My annoyance isn't that they now do it once, it's a constant repeat with Khorne. If people want to know the actual full list of 'GW doesn't know what they are doing with Khorne' I'm fully willing to elaborate that in a larger post. Cheers,
  11. I wouldn't do it, feel free to paint them up as Khornate as you wish, but Brass Despoiler Battalion really thakes away a better Allegiance Ability and synergy with the whole army for no clear reason. Bloodsecrator, Slaughterpriest and Bloodstoker are pretty much the only reasons left to perhaps consider Khorne. But you are really in a better position now with playing Beasts of Chaos and sticking to their allegiance and such, even with spells. Looks cool to me, it's just that in general facing any higher armoured army now is going to be a problem. Bronzed Flesh is fun but turtling up doesn't jam well with our army. The big monsters are still there but I'd also say they are the prime targets for your opponent. Give it a try, feel free to give some feedback on how you feel about it Well you really don't at a competitive level, the consistency to rely on Bloodletters/Moral Wounds is gone, which was the last grip to be sort of Tier 1.5/2. What you could consider is stacking up on Skullreapers and hope some make it to the enemy.
  12. The fact is buffing Bloodletters MW makes Khorne competitive, understand they they buffed themselves up until Wrath and Rapture too. The lists you posted only show this aswell. It's objectively incorrect to state the Bloodletter Bomb died with 2.0. It died with Wrath and Rapture. To come back on your own lists: 1. Daniel.Ford ran 90 Bloodletters. 2. Daniel.Ford again show how great Bloodletters where. 3. The great David Fields certainly did something epic with Council of Blood, though keep in mind here that what gave him first place was the great painted and modeled army. If I recall correctly what won on points was Legions of Nagash. 4. I can't find Vincent Chain. Darren Watson actually went for the Blood Tithe approach, though didn't see any amazing results. 5. Daniel "Lord Doyle" actually runs 30 Bloodletters,. Long story short, the consistent succesful Khorne lists have been running Bloodletters. They have done so with the buffs, be it their own 5+ MW or going to 4+ with Frenzy stacked. In general: Games Workshop didn't need to do this. We don't need a 2008 WBF repeat where the newest army's are also the best. This is what killed Warhammer Fantasy Battles in the first place. Which is why I don't understand why Games Workshop chooses it to do this again.
  13. It's one list as fas as I know, a real while ago and it wasn't any mayor event as far as I know. Really I can't say these changes are based on anything except for a general 'don't care as it's 2 years old' additude that became WBF's downfall. To me it's no coincedence that new armies matter and old ones do not. It's an old habbit of GW that got me out of WBF to begin with. It's a whole lot worse when you go from a single unit that had acces to 5+/4+ to Mortal wound versus 6+ to Mortal wound with no cost change. A 5 wound 160 point character with a 4+ is a hard pill to swallow. Fleshhounds get 1 shooting attack extra, it's funny that it's there, but it doesn't really matter. Lastly Bloodcrushers got a 2+ D3 Mortal wound impact hit, better as they used to be, still however have just 1 attack per rider. Grand result, effectively two units became more expensive, one practically stayed the same and one got a tiny bit better. To me it's just clear that they don't care about this army anymore. Skullcrushers still are just Mortal, Khorne Lord on Juggernaut is still just Mortal, Khorne Lord with Fleshhound is still just Mortal. Compair that to Chaos undivided, Tzeentch, Nurgle and Slaanesh you see how much it matters that GW actually puts effort into some armies. It's starting to become a fallacy.
  14. At least the model is cool I guess, but dont see a real reason to play it.
  15. It's been close to two years now where Skullcrushers arn't Moral Daemon, Lord of Khorne on Juggernaut isn't Mortal Daemon and Mighty Lord of Khorne with Fleshhound isn't Mortal Daemon. Whoever gave 2 cents about Khorne unit design in GW left the building a while ago, instead we get worse units and a long overdue reason to thake Bloodcrushers at all and with their single attack they are still very far from good.
  16. Well, the news is out: - Karnak, seventy more - Bloodletters, same cost, directly nerfed in power - Bloodcrushers, minus ten - Fleshhounds, same cost, can do pew pew
  17. Maby Bloodletters will be cheaper, I doubt it but it could occur. There is some hope in having a lot of units still for Blood Tithe point reasons, as before though, I don't think they will be cheaper. I still think Skullreapers are okay but this was in the context of Bloodletters being good or good enough. Sadly Bloodletters is not where the edited 6's stop, I hear the Crimson Crown got an edit too. Bloodcrushers as are still don't serve a true good purpose. Cheaper is nice, but yes I agree Khorne could use "rebalance" or more specifically could use a content creator again that actually cares. Khorne indeed basically is the equivelant of where Destruction stands. A lot got removed/altered and what we recieved in return is shooting with a Fleshhound leader and a "better" Karanak that likely is more expensive too. Absolutely agree with this, I think we've even mentioned it during the first pages of this topic. This is also why my focus isn't really on Khorne for a while now. Love the models, love the lore and look but this just doesn't add up for me. Daughters of Khaine does better what Khorne used to do, heck even Slaanesh and Nurgle seem to form an army that better do what Khorne used to do. Jokingly I made a list of what happened during the years with Khorne, more specifically marked what isn't around anymore: Sayl's flying Bloodletter Bombs Bloodsecrator's stacking Reliable Mortal Wound output Anti Magic And to me this is the status of Khorne, we're sort of Anti Magic. There isn't anything in particular we do that others do not do or can't do better. I think GW is pretty consistent in making NEW armies count and OLD stuff slowely irrelevant. So the conclusion I can only come up with is indeed that Khorne might become a relevant competitive army again IF GW decides to update it for Age of Sigmar. As is I think this will occur after a 40K update so I think we'll be looking at this for at least 1,5 year in the future. There is still fun to be had with the army and models, but I still don't see us doing much unless we get a new Age of Sigmar logo on the book. I only play Khorne though but I do believe it's very much in line with what GW did to Destruction, Desciples of Tzeentch etc. Somehow Seraphon dodged the 'first edition books become competitively irrelevant at larger events' bullet. Despite this, I am truely happy with the new models. Do think it's bizzare why GW didn't do this way earlier and hope to see Fleshhounds in a seperate box very soon. Cheers,
  18. In responce to the above, I think Karanak will cost 140 at least, because let's be honest here, the deal we get on Special Characters never really has been amazing. Skarr technically is cheap, so is Scyla but the 'great' special characters are generally costly for us. 40 point Battalions... I just don't see this happening for Khorne. It could be possible he's 160 and the Bloodletters are 100 but considering how Khorne evolved the last years, I doubt that too. @Revan123, fantastic army! Great job truely! In terms of DoK, under the right conditions I'd say they generally do Khorne's job better. Which isn't to say that Bloodletters are useless but is to say that Mortal wounds under the new rules are just much harder to find in Khorne, and that matters. Somewhere way back in this topic or even last edition I felt Bloodletters are what made Khorne competitively stick around, these have been altered, which means the grip on the competitive meta has been lost or is very lose. How to deal with other armies like mentioned? Unclear, Gore Pilgrims remains good, Blood Hunt remains good, as Fleshhounds recieved a minor buff but other than that yeah spam some mortals, hope that the anti-horde spells don't get to you I guess.
  19. If they had 2 attacks that would be fine, but I very much doubt they have those attack numbers. I do get it somewhat from certain players point of view, in the sence that Bloodletters used to wreck havoc back in 1st AoS. But now without Sayl, Bloodsecrator's stacking and good acces to Mortal wounds things become awefully clear that your better of playing the newer armies with AoS 2 aswell. Sales matter, I do really get that, but I don't think this really needed to be done. If Bloodletters would have gained another attack I'd also think they would have very clearly mentioned it. It's a sideways edit which ends out to be a minor nerf, however it was applied to an army who got a lot of 'top tier tools' removed allready. It's fun to play Khorne still, it's just that more had the older stackable Mortal wound rules, so if they apply the change to all those units eventually then Khorne basically is an anti magic horde army with Gore Pilgrims to sort of count.
  20. It's a pitty Bloodletters got changed like this, perhaps a cost reduction will be put in place with their power reduction. But considering how Khorne got changed the last year(s) I doubt they will be cheaper. My best guess is that Karanak is now 140 but more likely 160. Fleshhounds probably will stick at 100. Bloodcrushers at 140 would make them a unit to consider. We will see.
  21. Yeah I also pinned them for this reason and as we speak are pulling them off the base. My backlog is way too massive though, so no paintjobs where damaged, but man, this confuses me... However I will say, this base absolutely adds more tactical flexability to them. What made me happy is the new Karanak reveal though! I feel Karnak will be looking awesome if they also really have him fired up like that! It could even mean we're seeing updated rules if he is so massive and IF GW wants to make him more unique/powerful to match his actual fav pet status of Khorne. All in all looking very much forward to this!
  22. I think one hammer of 10 Skullreapers is great, serves a similar purpose as 30 Bloodletters but I wouldn't likely include additional multiple pockets of 5 Skullreapers. Offcourse you can do so for Battalion reasons, but 10 Skullreapers and a unit of 5 Wrathmongers usually give more utility.
  23. Lots of options are around, personally can see the pros and cons of 3 Slaughterpriests in Gore Pilgrims but it depends on the whole list context. I'm personally not that huge on the Daemon Prince Cheers!
  24. And also the beast is here! It's an epic model offcourse, in my opinion not really mend for gaming but fantastic for the ultimate Khorne fan for collection and display purposes. I have to say, I think the dragon looks ace, but I do dislike the rider. Luckily it doesn't seem like it would be hard to convert another one, that makes more sence on top of an dragon. What I do think is a petty is that the other one was discarded, in my opinion it looked way better as what we see now. VS All in all though that is my one and only gripe with this model So if I where to get it I'd basically go for another rider on top, likely with a big shield and offcourse an axe. Cheers!
