    I think that most of the time Marauder are as good on the offensive as Bloodreavers.  If you compare a unit of 40 Marauders against a Unit of 40 Reavers with reaper blades. (Both within 12 of the Blood Screator).  The Marauders are only worse if you fail to roll 3+ on the Barbarian Horde roll and if you get 5+ they are better... 

    Mathammer says that the 40 reavers should make 35 wounds. Marauders who fail the check will make 23.33 wounds, Who roll 3+ will make 31.11 Wounds, and on a 5+ will make 41.48 wounds. Now if you can give them an extra attack (aspirng deathbringer command trait). Mathammer says the reavers are now making 46.66 wounds, but the Marauders who pass the 3+ check are now also landing 46.66 wounds. 

    When you then consider that Marauders are on the smaller base the chance of being able to land all 40 into combat increases. 

    The advantage is that reavers unlock battalions with other useful powers. The Marauder Battalion is cheap, but I cannot advocate running 120 Marauders... I think. 

     

  2. Have you considered running a larger bock of Marauders? I have been experimenting with a block of 40.  It would cut a chunk out of your summoning pool.  But for 200 you end up with a unit that can be a pain to remove.  (I have been know to give them mystic Shield, and Ocular visions from the  Chaos Sorcerer Lord, and sit them in a nice bit of cover and tarpit quite scary units, or make last min runs up the table ). 

  3. Yes the -1 Morale is for Bravery and Battleshock tests. 

    I do also worry about the favoring of Melee.. but the penalty's for shooting will should be minimized to the end of the game. As it has to be turn 3 before a flat pen hits shooting. Whereas the 2nd turn you could face deadly terrain, or a charge pen, which will hurt the melee armies. 

    Edit: But yes I see you point in re-reading it.. I need to be clear that you roll starting turn 2. (So round one is always Light Drizzle) [Thematically armies start battle then hopeing it doesn't get worse for them.   I also think the -2 movement should be made to runs as well. 

    additionally, I think I should expand the section a bit and talk about terrain types. As I envision more  lakes and rivers so less stuff that blocks line of sight, which helps bring in the balance back to shooting.
