  1. Fast times at Sigmar High here. He’s HEEEEEERRRREEEEE —— —— AHOMTEP THE GOLDEN VULTURE OF VENGEANCE, HIGH KING OF THE CARRION ISLES, AND EMPEROR OF THE HIGH WINDS. It’s done - it’s done - it’s done! Time to go celebrate!
  2. Little hour of base coats on Ahomtep last night. One of my goals with this project is to improve my painting. Trying to get better at clean application of base coats to save time and headaches. Also trying to get better at how crisp the lines and highlights are, but that’s for later. for now, I have to decide if I want to scrap the pinks on his hat/whole model. I want to keep a connection to the rest of the army, but I want him to stand out. Thoughts gang?
  3. Thanks for the kind words! Got a bit of work done on Ahomtep. He looks like hell right now, but soon he’ll be a dandy. Doing a lot on him because I think he deserves it. Going to be going back and forth with red and blue on his armour. Fancy boy needs all his little accoutrements picked out.
  4. Speaking of conversions ? Got my boat and bird together. Couldn’t help myself after a long week of house painting. Wanted to feel like I’m making progress on this project. Got a due date coming fast ? and after that I won’t be able to get too much painting done! I’m very happy with the pose. Got it a lot more inline than I expected. I was worried it was going to be all janked up. I was just fooling around trying to find a landing spot for the bird and found a nice spot that had lots of contact points for glue. It just so happened to create a nice fluid line, giving it a more natural sense of movement. Here’s hoping the gorilla holds on well! Only Ahomtep himself to finish up!
  5. Lot of work done on my Exalted Tomb King! Well, not on the king itself, but all the accoutrements of the office. Chariot and carrion are almost done. I’ve even gotten to do a mock-up of how it’ll sit on the base! Really happy with how it’s coming along. Still more to do. I added a couple of pictures from various stages of the painting. Along with those a few “action shots” from the first game with it in my list! ETK is nothing to mess with! Especially when it has the ethereal amulet. 3+ ignor rend all day long. In the middle of a hobby lull, but hope to get some painting done next week. End of summer is a hard time to paint.
  6. OH MAN. That would be amazing! I'm hoping to convert up a few of the endless spells for my army when I figure out what one's I'm going to use. Cogs seem like the club house leader. Just have to figure out how to best Tomb King them! Thanks MB! I'll post up a few newer photos of the engine for you to see the finished project!
  7. After I got the bird together I decided to work on my base. I knew I wanted something considerable, and with the release of the Azyrite Ruins it was a pretty easy decision to include one of those. I tried to find the positioning of the boat and the vulture in relation to the ruins and came up with something that worked. Oddly when I went to go try it again after I found a better spot for the bird. Happy accidents are the best. After I got the position down I checked out the great Paint Picker app that guy named Aaron Tunney built. If you haven’t heard about it yet I highly recommend it. With my army having a lot of teal, purple, gold and bone to it I wanted something that would compliment it well. The app generates the complimentary colours for what you’re working with and it spit out a nice emerald green for me. I’m really pleased with the result and think that the green was a solid addition to the pallet. I’m going to paint up the rest of my ruins to match!
  8. Put in a bunch of work lately and my Exalted Tomb King is starting to come together. My big bird got a long neck attached to it from the Lord of Change along with a few choice bits from several Tomb Kings kits. Most notably the back armour plates from the Necropolis Knights/Sepulchral Stalkers. It was so nice to find a good use for those! Some of my favourite pieces from the TK range that are very difficult to use in other places. This was also my first foray into the wide world of green stuff. While a bit scary off the top it ended up going pretty well! I’ll do things a bit differently in the future(actually watch a couple videos on it might help!) but I’m pleased with the results! More updates incoming.
  9. I know in my heart of hearts this isn’t happening but, IM ALL IN - TAKE ALL MY MONEY - ALLOFIT, if it does. I love AoS, think the game is super fun and I love the lore too, but nothing’s clicked with me as much as Tomb Kings has. Really hope they do it some day.
  10. I think so too! Added a longer neck and I think that makes it even better. Now im working on putting holes into the wings to add some exposed bone for more of an undead look. After that I’m going to work on the head/neck positioning. I want to get that so it has a bit less pull to the side, but keeps the sense of movement This project is me trying to push myself and try some new things, namely trying out green stuff for the first time! I’ve bought it over the years but I’ve never ended up using it for one reason or another. Pretty excited and nervous for it. Going to be green stuffing feathers and covering up the gap between the neck and body. Also doing some wrappings for the wings. I don’t think any of it will be especially challenging, but first time for anything is always a bit nerve wracking.
  11. Speaking of that carrion here’s a wip I did up. Going to try and extend the neck and make the wings and body a lot more dead and covered in wrappings. Also getting dangerously close to finishing that Mortis Engine / Casket Of Souls up!
  12. “Things I Didn’t Know Existed for 400 Alex” Well that’s rad. I’d really like to figure out a good way to do the horse helmets like that. Think it would give a great differentiation from the deathrattle horses. ————————— Decided that some hobby was better than no hobby and worked on some wings for a fun future project. Making my own Settra conversion where he’s on a flying chariot being pulled by a massive carrion. Filed, drilled, scraped and used a hot pin to cut up and puncture the fins. Pleased with the result. Really happy with the way the hot pin pulled up the plastic to give the holes a lip, so it seems more like fabric. Want to smooth out some of the transitions with some fine grit sand paper next before moving onto the chariot itself.
  13. Thanks guys! I hit a bit of a painting road block but I’ve been able to get some work done, little by little, over the last few weeks. Here are a couple terrible pictures:
  14. Thanks! Really happy with what I’ve gotten done so far. Looking forward to finishing this beast up!
  15. Started laying down the first few spooky layers and washes onto my Engine Of Souls. I have a probably too time consuming method for my ghostly magic clouds. Base coat of Ulthuan Grey Wash of watered down Beil-tan Green Dry brush of Ulthuan Grey Wash of watered down Nihilakh Oxcide Dry brush of Ulthuan Grey. I’ll also target some of the deepest recesses and speckling with a mix of Beil-Tan green and black wash. still need to do the final dry brush and recess shading on the ghostly bits here. It’s coming along! I’m going to try and do some glazing with purple to bring out all the robes. Hope I can blend/fade those into the spirits.
  16. Thanks a lot! Made a bit more progress on him last night. Added on the base coat for the sheild checking. Thanks for the feedback AJ!
  17. Shield yes. Helmet no. Helmet will be getting more depth and highlights added to create a golden spot in the middle that I hope will draw the eye. I’ve used the helm before in the army on a liche priest and I ended up really liking how simple but effective it is.
  18. Got something I’m pretty proud of. My “Engine Of Souls” a Casket Of Souls - Mortis Engine hybrid. Ever since I saw the Casket Of Souls I knew I wanted it in my army. Since I’ve shifted my list building to work with the Legion of Sacrament I knew I needed to have a Mortis Engine. So I thought, “Well how do I combine the two?” I worked out the core parts of each model. So for example, the Mortis Engine needed the ghostly smoke knights, and a necromancer to keep it true to itself. The Casket Of Souls needed the guards, the casket itself and a liche priest. Knowing I wanted a tomb king bent to it I decided to replace any parts I could with TK bits. So the necromancer was out, and the liche priest was in for sure. I then tried adding the guards and was pleasently surprised that they also fit well. The casket was the tough part. I tried it in about 4 or 5 different spots before a pal on a WhatsApp chat suggested the obvious, to place it in front of the liche priest. Low and behold it worked almost perfectly! Thanks Stonemonk! With those in place I set about to TK up the Mortis Engine. I chopped off a bunch of plain skulls and added in TK heads. From there I swapped in the TK long shields where I could and used TK weapons where they made sense. Most notably on the three knights at the front where I used my last Tomb Guard head and some other bits from that wonderful kit. All and all I’m incredibly pleased with it and I’m excited to work on the base next. My goal is to work in the milder base from the casket of souls so I can get a sense of satisfaction by using all that kit. Painting this sucker is going to take forever but I’m looking forward to it.
  19. HMMMmmm that does make more sense and I’ll always be a sucker for anything alliteration! Yeah that’s going to happen right now. Editing time!
  20. A traitor from the Necropolis Knights of Khatep’s Spear has fallen to Nagash’s silver tongue. Hassan Ishtar, otherwise know as “The Dagger of Ahomtep” was in life a trusted member of tomb legion. A Necropolis Captain known for his even keel and fair judgements - an aberration to the usual hard line the captains took in their duties. Ishtar was mocked by his peers for being too lenient and too slow to act. Thinking and weighing his options when he should be doing in their minds. But it was not them whom Hassan Ishtar answered too, it was Prince Ahomtep. The prince trusted Ishtar and his timely actions. “A well timed dagger, is more deadly than any kopesh.” The prince would say. Since being raised from the sands of the endless deserts Ishtar’s outlook changed. Gone was the even keel & fairness. In their stead was a brash cunning and hot headed furvor. Trading in his well timed dagger, for a heavy cleaving axe. With that loss so did his favour with Ahomtep also slip. A will to be taken seriously and to show that he could act with haste was all consuming. He showed his former legionaries just how deadly serious he was, giving up his mantle as captain to take up a new position. As soon as he was asked he kept at the chance to show all that he could be decisive. No longer would he be mocked, ridiculed or looked down upon. For his ascendency gave him power and the command of an entire army, not just a few snake riders. The old Hassan Ishtar is truly gone now. And so are those other Necropolis Captains. Tricked by one of their own into an ambush - Skeletons picked apart by amethystian spirits. Their bones now scattered across the Endless Deserts. This is Ishtar, now the Axe of Ahomtep, Knight of Shrouds:
  21. Thanks for the kind words! I really appreciate it. I’m super stoked you like them! I’ll have more coming soon, promise. Working on some more skeleton warriors tonight and hoping to have some Tomb Guard arrive tomorrow. Thanks Tyler! Feels a great to have one of my hobby heroes enjoy my work. I’ll have more soon!
  22. Trying to put together a fun list for the new Legions Of Negash book and I’m diving into the Legion of Sacrament. Got plans to use a Mortis Engine and I’m planning a hopefully pretty sick conversion. Going to use the Casket of Souls, a Skycutter chariot*, and the Mortis Engine. Hard part will be finding the Skycutter for a decent price, seeing as I only want the chariot* bit. But, that’s beside the point. With the new book came new rules and new models to build. Here’s my first attempt at a suitable gravesite marker. Going to need to make another 3 so I can take full advantage of the new healing mechanics. Any thoughts on it? Plan to measure from that top spike. Please check out the video attached for a better idea of it. cheers gang! * not a chariot, as discussed by HWG CCF07B67-30A5-4934-8A5D-B5FACBE061B3.MOV
