My name's Tristan and after many years away from the hobby I've picked table top wargaming back up in a big way. My local scene is small and new. Our local gaming store dropped GW about a decade ago and only in the past 5 months started stocking and a dedicated group started building up the community again. After getting back into 40k, some of my newfound pals talked me into giving Sigmar a try. Billing it as a quick game to get into, I gave it a shot and was hooked. Realizing that I could finally play with the Tomb Kings that I've always wanted was a big draw too. Then the other shoe dropped. "Oh they cancelled the entire line" "...****** it, who needs a savings account anyway?" I'm going to use this space as a way to document my progress, make some fun backstory in the Endless Deserts for Tomb King Ahomtep and his city, and hopefully have some fun back and forth with y'all about it. ------ The Spear of Kahtep The Necropolis of King Ahomtep is one of wonder and no fixed point. Placed upon the floating desert spire known and the Spear Kahtep, its largess and glimmering towers are known to slacken the jaw of even the most hardened Duardin. It's Pyramids, obelisks and streets woven into the great rock's surface, busy with activity. It is known to mostly drift between the edges of the Sour Sea and the Carrion Isles, but it has been spotted near the bastion of Bétone. The great spire blotting out the sun as it passes. Only the liche priests of The Spear truly understand how it traverses the deserts wind. When the unyielding suns of the Endless Deserts are darkened by the shadow of The Spear, all know it is their demise made shade.
I have always loved elves, ever since I got into the “traditional” high fantasy settings in my pre-teens. It started with the Lord of the Rings and Warcraft III when I was 12 or so, and it has sort of persisted In the background as a preference all of these years. I just find the idea of a tragic, fading race of obsessive personalities fascinating. Now that I’ve found myself struggling through a rocky stretch of my adult life, it has brought me quite a bit of solace to indulge in my fantasy whims whenever the opportunity presents. I’m starting this thread to record my slow, hopefully methodical progress of meditation through painting, dwelling largely for now on my love of fantasy elves. The Daughters of Khaine are such beautiful models, and yet so small and fine. The dynamism of the sculpts and the lithe sensuality are wonderful, but my god they are hard to do justice with paint. I have tried to start things off on the right foot, or wing, here: Apologies for the potato resolution. Next up, I am making a start on repainting battleline. This girl needs to be redone in nmm and get her base updated.
Hi everyone! This thread is made to post stuff I paint that doesn't belong to my Brayherd, mostly Silver Tower for now but other things later. I had already painted roughly half of the Silver Tower minis: The Gaunt Summoner and familiars, Ogroid Thaumaturge and half of the Kairic Acolytes, Tzaangors and Horrors. For completeness' sake, here are some pictures of those. That left me the other half of the Acolytes, Tzaangors and horrors, the Grot Scuttlings, the Skaven Deathrunner and all the heroes. The main reason I hadn't painted the rest of the minions yet was that I didn't feel like painting identical models again, so to avoid that I went to a bits site and got Tzaangors and horrors from their respective boxed sets, and bought a whole box of Acolytes at my FLGS. The rest of them will be used in a future conversion project I have planned (after the Brayherd is done to a satisfactory level). I've been working on the first hero for the past week and a half, and the Darkoath Chieftain is now complete! I decided to do him in a very Slaanesh-y colour scheme - pale skin, dark leather and metal, purple cloth and so on. Next up are the five remaining horrors, which I'm going to paint in a batch.
Evening all. Since returning to The Hobby 18 months ago I've been very naughty and built up an embarrassingly large collection of models and an even more embarrassingly small number of finished armies. Zero to be precise. To that end I present this thread! A place to post my progress with painting/modelling/narrative efforts. I have the rest of this week off work and will have plenty of time to paint up a 1k narrative/matched army I have built for Devoted of Sigmar. The list is as follows: Lord Celestant on Dracoth (General) Witch Hunter Warrior Priest x 2 War Altar of Sigmar Flagellants 2 x 20 Total = 990 pts Hopefully enough to have some fun at least! I hope to do a little creative writing for their fluff soon, but my initial idea for them is that they are essentially from a small trading town in some cold/mountainous part of Ghur (do the realms even have a north??). The coming of a zealous Stormcast and a few Azyrites to the town has whipped a large number of the populace into a pro-Sigmar frenzy and formed a semi-rabid mob ready to unleash on the non-Sigmarites in the region. More to come on this as I think on it. Now onto progress pics... The goodies... All built... Sprayed and ready to paint! With all their skin and cloth I'm thinking they're prime candidates for some contrast paint, and I'm hoping I can get them painted pretty quickly while training my speed muscle. Will be back soon with progress! Cheers.
