  1. I'm guessing Warcry will also be on a 22"x30" board. GW already has everything in place to design boards of that size, and looking at the picture of the starter contents, the board looks pretty similar in size to a Kill Team board to me. 1K AoS I can see getting something like 3'x3' and up or something. 4' x 4' seems most likely though.
  2. I have a feeling we might see a demo of Warcry at the upcoming UK Games Expo. I'm not sure if GW has an events to show things off at in June, but I imagine they will want to show off a demo of the game at an event. Then in sometime starting in June we will get more Warhammer Community articles with more detail on how the game plays, background, warbands, etc. until the game is release in July.
  3. With Warcry coming out this Summer and Slaanesh stuff out already I wouldn't be that surprised to see a Slaves to Darkness Book this Summer/Fall to put Chaos fully up to date. Especially with that WarCom preview that looks very similar to the Varanguard hand. Varanguard on foot or maybe new Chaos warriors, along with another kit or two and all the Warcry bands coming out and you have a mostly up to date and varied army. I suppose that WarCom preview could be from Warcry, but I just can't see "plain" Chaos Warrior types being in the game.
  4. I for one am very excited about it, and I don't play 40k or AoS. Large scale mini games are just too time consuming for me anymore. If did play AoS I would be really excited about it, because a whole new line of models are being released that can be used in AoS. 40k didn't really get any of that with Kill Team, just repackaging of old boxed set.
  5. Thanks Still-Young for posting the picture over here, I wasn't sure of the picture posting rules here and didn't want to step on any toes.
  6. Oh man, those Splintered Fang minis look gorgeous. Over on DakkaDakka in the Warcry thread they have a picture of the whole warband in the cabinet, and there are ones not pictured in the preview. They all look really fantastic. Warcry seems like the perfect game for me, I really hope the rules are well-written. I guess we'll find out in July. Also Contrast paints look really nice. I think they will save me a lot of time on painting flesh, which is probably my least favorite/time consuming thing to paint. I can definitely get that some AoS fans are disappointed with the reveals though. I imagine there will be more at UK Games Expo here pretty soon. I think a lot of disappointment is coming from how little was shown at this Warhammer Fest, but I think more of it is that GW had to split their previews across three events this month. I presume they don't want to preview stuff too far in the future either, so they probably didn't have a lot of ways to split things up.
  7. I have a feeling Rattila is right on this one, with Warcry coming up soon I believe the scythe belongs to the Warcry band from Shyish.
  8. While it is a rumor and what not, if those Iron Golems were truly painted with one layer of the contrast paint, that is a truly impressive product. Sure, the Iron Golems pictured won't win a Golden Daemon, but if you can get those type of metallic and skin results with only a single layer of paint that is pretty awesome. If it is fairly straightforward to use it would allow just about everyone to get models painted to a good standard (provided they have a somewhat steady hand) with very little time investment. I consider myself a pretty good painter (not great by any means) but I would still be very interested in Contrast if those are the results it produces. It would speed up my glacially slow rate of painting immensely.
  9. This is a very good point. I have a bunch of games (mostly just rulebooks for game systems) that never see use because even though the games are really well made, the people I play with just aren't interested. Regardless of how well put together the rules are, if no one wants to try it, you are out of luck. I have several friends I know who would or are interested in this, but I could see trepidation for those who are uncertain if they will be able to find pick up games or leagues at local stores.
  10. Definitely an understandable viewpoint to have. I reckon you are probably right that if this doesn't sell well then it won't get a lot of support. I'm just hoping the rules are good, because they are, even if we only end up with the six initial factions, I'll still have a perfectly playable game and be happy with it. I'm honestly surprised Necromunda is still getting support as well, especially as it seems a lot of gaming stores don't even carry it anymore. But that probably has more to do with FW and as you said, it's core fans. KT seems to be curious too. I guess the boxed set and the Kill Zones sold exceedingly well (and why not they were all tremendous values), but the repacked "faction starts" and HQs have been atrocious sale wise. At least that's what I've heard. Though talking to the guy who runs my local game store, they haven't sold a single KT HQ box of the ones they got in (which is not surprising considering the value of them). Warcry could definitely be a one and done thing, with no support after the six initial factions, especially considering how it isn't set in 40k (40k branded products tend to sell better from what I gather). I do hope that's not the case. At the moment I'm just very excited to try it out and see a new side of the GW universe.
  11. This is true, though the Undead faction was mostly human (barring Vampire, Zombies and Dire Wolves). Mordheim was mostly a game about humans (fur-clad humans, disciplined humans, rich humans, graverobbing and degenerate cannibal humans, fanatical religious humans, different fanatical religious humans, fanatical religious humans with mutants, and......rat humans.....okay that was a stretch). There definitely is a possibility that other factions could be introduced into Warcry at a later date. It looks like one of the Armored guys may be a Duardin, so we may see Skaven or Beastmen in some of the tribes. If not I really wouldn't be surprised if down the road Skaven and Beastmen both become options as other followers of Chaos. I do agree however that there will be a certain proportion of people that would be interested in this game if it included other factions, so naturally the game will lose a portion of it's audience. I do think varied Warbands are a part of Underworlds success (though no one said that the Warcry warbands won't be varied, even if mostly human). I agree with Skabnoze on Necromunda though. I adopted early as I love the setting, but the way the thing was released, and especially drip feeding the rules killed the game here early. Which is a real shame, because the core of the new game is fantastic. Everyone just got tired of adding a new rulebook every three months, and the inconsistencies, and trying to find things across five books...etc. By the time the joint books were released it was really too late. Adeptus Titanicus I think is just marketed as a more niche game. The rules are apparently really crunchy and dense, the initial buy in is pretty expensive (though the overall cost is not far other GW skirmish games, and cheaper than 40k and AoS most often), there was no real starter set, and no real bundles to get into it. It seems to be a game that most people I talk to have no interest in whatsoever, but the people that do went in really heavily. I'm sorry to hear that this isn't as exciting to a lot of you, I know a few of my buddies and I will be playing this a lot.
  12. This seems to be the game I've wanted GW to make. It sounds like Mordheim (with a presumably less robust campaign system) mixed with the original Path to Glory, played on a smaller board and in a smaller amount of time. In an excellent setting with diverse new models and a very cool concept. I'm not a Chaos player in any GW game, but I appreciate Chaos, and it's awesome to see them do something with Chaos different than "This guy has a bunch of skulls and brass" and "This guy has a bloated gut and weeping sores." I can't say I have ever been this excited about a GW release (I didn't play Mordheim when it initially came out, and that became my favorite mini game of all time). I can understand those that are disappointed that this is Chaos only (I personally am on board, because I felt the restricted factions in Mordheim really helped with the setting and immersion in my opinion), so hopefully something like that will be released soon, or maybe other factions will be added eventually to this. I will say, while core KT is fun, I think the route GW has taken with it has been very uninspiring. After initially doing something unique and interesting (The Rogue Trader boxed set), KT has progressed by simply adding more Rulebooks that include more units from 40k. No in-depth campaign rules, no new factions, just kind of meh things if you ask me. Next expansion will probably be KT: Fast Attack. If we ended up with KT for AoS it would probably be much the same, fun core game and then AOS KT: Mounted Warrior, and then AOS KT: Large Warriors, etc. Doing something unique like this promises the content will be all new, not just reworked profiles in an additional rulebook.
  13. You know, if they do gangs by realms as several had suggested that would be really cool. The wild looking guys from Ghur makes sense, as do the armored guys being from Chamon. It looks like the folks fighting the armored dudes in the art might be from Ulgu. They have a very specterish and stealthy vibe.
  14. I can't say I've ever been as stoked for a GW product as Warcry. As someone who loves skirmish gaming with narrative focus this checks all of my boxes. Warband progression ? Check. Small table size? Check. Games that don't take forever to play or set up? Check. Awesome setting? Check. Mordheim is probably my all time favorite miniature game and this seems to be a AoS spiritual successor (with what I am guessing is a less robust campaign system- something I am fine with) mixed with a little bit of the original Path to Glory (WD article game).....down to the narrow setting and thus restricted warbands. Mordheim felt like Mordheim to me because the Warbands were so perfect for the setting, it helped (at least for me) with narrative immersion to not see a warband of High Elves cruising around fighting Empire mercenaries. I like that Warcry is trying for that. I probably wouldn't be as interested if it was just Khorne vs. Nurgle vs. Tzeentch vs. Slaanesh, but the warbands shown look really unique, and I'm guessing all of them will be pretty varied. Also.....the models look fantastic. Don't get me wrong, I do feel for those who wanted an AoS Kill Team (and hope that something along the lines is released soon rather than later), but this really hits all the spots for me. I'm definitely going to be clearing some room for this one.
  15. So some good news just came in from Dakka. Apparently someone over there called their GW rep about the Squig Hoppers and was told they are 10 to a box. Which makes the box a very good deal.
  16. This is a good point, and I think it really reinforces that if you are concerned about how basing your models will affect the games you play, you should really talk to your playgroup or the venues you play at before you base your models. No one around my runs AoS tournaments and my playgroup is pretty casual. If people are basing a model because they did a cool conversion or what not we are all for it. We only had an issue once when a guy (who no longer plays with us) tried to base large models (50mm) on 25mm bases so he could fit more into combat.
  17. 50 USD makes a bit more sense if the Hoppers are 5 model box. GW is weird with their price conversion between countries and often 45 euros is 60 USD, so that's what I was going off. Not sure if the U.S./Canada prices are in the wild yet.
  18. I'm not saying it's not a possibility that the Squig Hoppers will be 5 to a box, but with the way GW prices stuff that seems pretty unlikely. The Deepkin Eels came out this year, are a dual kit, and are three to a box. They are also 50 USD per box. It would make no sense for five models that are a third of the size of an Eel to cost more than three Eels. I think if GW was putting the Hoppers five to a box it would be Khinerai prices (dual kit, similar size) at 45 USD a box.
  19. That's nice to here, I've always like the Spider riders, but the leg posing on the spiders has always kept me from investing. I may have to give converting them a shot.
  20. I imagine the hoppers, at what is very likely 60 USD will be 10 to a box. The original picture showed 10 of them present, and only when GW showed the alternate build were 5 pictured. They are a cavalry model, but by the looks of it be about half the size of anything riding a horse-shaped creature. If they are only five to a box the price is pretty steep. The rest of the prices seem pretty fair.
  21. Squig freakin' Knights........that is too cool. They look like something out of Labyrinth.....I love it.....GW is going to be breaking my bank in January. Especially if the Centipede hero and troggoths are as cool as I anticipate.
  22. I am so unbelievably stoked for this release.....and I'm ecstatic they are giving da Gitz a proper release rather than two new kits, a book, and a new hero. Also that blurred out worm thing......totally a hero on a giant centipede. I really can't think of much cooler than an army with a giant centipede and a titanic spider. And how cool is that armored squig herder with his visor down? The whole lot of the models previewed look great so far. Time to get rebasing my 80 night gobbos!
  23. I suppose that's true to some level. I like the Warqueen alright, and I really enjoy the Chieftain. To me, the new models don't have any of the Chieftain's charm.
  24. Yeah, they just seem really blocky and oddly proportioned even aside from that I don't like the concept that much. They definitely don't look like modern GW models. Compared them to the new Fiends, the last two Shadespire warbands released, or the new Blackstone Fortress stuff and they look miles behind in quality.
  25. Blackstone Fortress looks absolutely amazing. I can't wait for it. Delaque are pretty cool and more importantly we are getting all the Necromunda rules in compilation books. On the AoS front, I am super excited to see Moonclan coming next. For the Darkoath, I really dig the dog and absolutely hate everything else. It looks like Franzetta barbarians met an anime hair and weapon designer. I was hoping the sculpts would do more to make me like the concept art, but now I like them even less.
