    nah.. yer aireet.

I denee think I'll be stumping up fer this one.

The financial report mentioned exciting releases... unless there's the oop khorne dragon in plastic I think I'll not be holding my breath.

I guess I might as well start cracking open the stormvault to the realm of Statis celophanum that resides in the corner of my hobby room.

Khorne is getting a much needed hero rescuplt….I’ll assume Valkia whenever they drop that Battletome.

she's a certainty and will probably be exactly the same silhouette as Sigmarvalkia with obvious design tweaks.

Now they could make up for all the upset by either bringing back the khorne dragon for me to buy or alternatively just remake him in plastic for me to buy.  I'll settle for either, I'm not proud - however plastic means he'll stick around in the rules at least.

Til then I'll be going into hibernation, so give me a nudge in a year when it all starts to wake up again. Much appreciated.

Hobgrotz are commercial pasrtners and mediators  between Chorfs and Kruleboyz but aren't like the old Hobgoblins part of the Dawi Zharr army\society nor slaves, while the Horns seems more heralds and scouts for the Hashut war industry.
Centaurion also is not part of the Hashut followers as iirc the leak said they are more "gladiatoral instructors" in the eightpoints and are part of the slaves to darkness(so not linked to Hashut at all).
Chaos dwarves are still dwarves, yes they use slaves and other despicable means, i can't see them using all those inferior species to be the main part of their army...after all dwarf still have pride in their craftmanship and ability.
I like that Legion of Azgorh tried to blend the 3rd edition era chaos dwarves (that were just small chao swarriors) and the mesopotamian part  that we all love and wants back again (mostly in their war machine crew and heroes) so i could see something like a new design but more inclined to the latter aesthetics reimagined in an aos way.

Backing up @Snorri Nelriksson's claim about dwarf pride and craftsmanship, if you look at every model that has appeared to be somewhat aligned with Hashut (Hobgrotz and Horns of Hashut), their arms and weapons slowly increase in quality. The Hobgrotz helmet and grenades look like they're bolted or welded together from bits of scrap iron. This can also be seen in the Horns of Hashut, whose weapons and armor have more detail but are still rather crude by what we know of chaos dwarfs.

Hobgrots are said to be the middlemen between Chaos Dwarfs and the Kruleboyz, trading metal and weapons for slaves, so it's possible we might see them in an upcoming tome.

@Maogrim ignore everything I said and go with these two - they clearly know best.

My biggest concern is that I think they're largely leaving the old Mesopotamian aesthetic behind, since the new models don't really match the Legion of Azgorh aesthetically.

Not sure how to feel about Horns of Hashut...

Hashut gets human worshippers before a proper Chaos Dwarf remake? Seems a tad anti-climactic honestly...

Er... those humans might think they're followers but the true children of hashut know that they are nothing more than willing slave cannon fodder... or allies as we like to refer to them in the Zhar.

    And I quote:

(Cannon fodder slave) "followers of the god Hashut venture out in front of his all-conquering legions, seeking lands worthy of domination. They’re the vanguard of devastation and despair in a brutal machinery of endless war… and they have some very impressive hats."

I shall repeat once more... More-grim of the pointy ears...

And... a tease at some massively tasty sausages and marshmallows going by that fork.

That was a great Preview. Lets start with the good!!

    2 new Heroes.

    3 new Units.

    2 new Characters.

    2 new Books.

    And a Dawnbringer teaser!!

I personally love the new Sylvaneth models and that Deathmaster is perfection. Loving that we are getting more AOS BL novels and 2 new series at that!! The Dawnbringer/Cities update has me incredibly excited to see Human Mortals updated. Its the thing I feel is missing most from AOS in terms of models and I cannot wait to see what comes from them!!

    The Bad.

Only a single mini for Skaven is terrible. A new unit was sorely needed. We can only hope that there is a Warcry Warband revealed tomorrow.

REPEATED Battletome covers. That makes 4 repeated Tome covers this Edition. 40K hasnt had a single one. I hate being negative but honestly its ridiculous that there isnt one new piece of art they could slap on the cover.

mate it was a mediocre release.

We got some scraps from the table - only eco terrorist elves got a birthday.

It was alright, but not magnificent and in truth it was some bits to just say we weren't left out.

I get it, 40k/heresy is the biggy this year and sure we're getting some new slaves at the end of the year, but all in all it was a "mmm...(long pause)... nice cup of tea..." set of reveals.

For the rats I was hoping that they'd see the end of their finecast / metal lines at the very least, that would have been nice for them. Instead the poor flea ridden stinky backstabbing budget chaos god blighters got here's your book, here's your rat model, now off you go.

Sorry to say but in the words of my aussie mate, it was alright, but overall yea/nah.

The follow up article for Dawnbringers https://www.warhammer-community.com/2022/05/05/revealed-the-massive-project-to-put-mortals-back-into-mortal-realms/

Again they say this is "new concepts and miniatures grounded in the lore… but also quite unlike anything you’ve seen before" ...and yet the description on the CAD renders is "These are some of the insignia, emblems, and symbols that will come with your models to demonstrate their rather macabre dedication to the God-King" which sounds EXACTLY like things we've seen before in both WHFB and 40k...

If they wanted to put mortal back into the mortal realms they should have brought back brets - just sayin.

Anyhoo, I'm hoping that the biggest thing in the GHB is the size so I got half a chance at reading it, otherwise it's no Daark banana in the till this year either.

Ogroids look good, my hope is that they'll be as big and bulky as a bullgor, so I can transplant the heads from the bulls onto them and have some less derpy looking minotaurs.  Anyway, I'm still waiting for my big khorne marked doombull that allws me to make bullgors blades of khorne battle line - just saying GW.

Pointy ears seem to be the biggest winners so far, and I do feel sorry for rats - I don't play them but I'd really hoped for more for them, especially as they're such a pivotal GW race.

Anyway, two more days to go, I wonder what 40k and heresy stuff we'll see get dropped by the ton which we can take advantage of and convert to our needs?

Do stormcast have a beakycast chamber?

Drogrukh would be a fun release but unforunately they are extinct arent they? Unless I interpreted the lore wrong Carcass Donse, where the Drogrukh live, was destroyed during the war between the Drogrukh and the Dragons whilst Kragnos was imprisoned driving bith races to almost extinction with the Slann being gifted the last of the Dragon eggs.

so he's the largest of the breed, so what sort of size do you think they'd be if we did get them?

I‘m not completely sure if they didn’t leak the hype themselves (and then published the Warcom Article).

I agree with you. Given the depth of this leak I'm guessing it's tactical.

For a release that is end of year they won't have seeded sample books out into the wild just yet, because it's around now you'd be looking at doing final sign off and sending them to print for the first proofs.

Which makes the picture we're looking probably a studio copy.

Which makes the leaks from someone inside the mothership.

S2D tanked last release, there wasn't the reception that had been hoped for, and so this is a hype builder.

there's many factions that won't need more than a few weeks build up , but sales figures probably suggest that slaves aren't moving as well as they'd expected - and by that I mean that the know there is a BIG follower base out there, which should have corresponded in big sales, and also lots of positive buzz on the interweb, and although that may have been the case, it wasn't as much as hoped for.

In truth, what did we get? a start collecting box and a few extra bits but nothing that made us go wow.

So, my gut feeling is that there is a high investment gone into this release, and with it they need the hype behind it to make sure all those new models shift.

Warscroll for Horns of Hashutt has been leaked, picture on it is NOT a chaos dwarf, its a human with a horned helmet, and the scroll is a generic warcry warband one, the special move being a charge causes mortal wounds on 6's for every model in the unit. I'm assuming meant to be as they stab you with their helmets.

look at them as the meat tenderiser so that their masters get a forward look at what the enemy have got. After all, as any chaos dwarf knows, they're not dwarf so really not of any importance, and humans, although intelligent have got the toughness of an elf.

I'm sorry @Kaleb Daark , I'm just not impressed. Someone needs to teach those brutes that horns go on the helmets, not on the shoulders. And who needs something as inadequate and insufficient as a 'flamehurler' of sorts if well-trained Sentinels or a storm of searing white light do a much better and far more elegant job?! And due to these ugly helmets one can't even tell whether they are smiling or not.

As with all those pathetic mortals clamoring for the grace of insane gods these still have a lot to learn but unfortunately lack the mental capacity to do so.

    Humans innit.

always trying to be something else.  Do your lot prototype their helmets with inflatable party balloons to get the shape?

  13. @Maogrim  Now that's how you do a big hat properly.

Look and learn ya flappy eared stretch necks.

    look and Learn.

Like your lot, as you can see, humans look er ..um.. up to the might of Hashut, however unlike your lot we don't need floating polyhedral dice to brainwash them.  We're much more honest... you're in or you're toast - very well burnt toast, we don't do anything but well done, and as you will observe, not a voluminous pantaloon or massive trooser in sight.

Looking at the silver lining, this is probably the best developing besides having an actual BT for chaos dwarfs. It pretty much confirms they're gonna be a thing, and doesn't soup them with punny humans.
But I can see how that wouldn't be enough after the long wait chorf players are enduring.

we are built to endure and to enjoy a long wait.

At this rate I might even resurrect my old slaves and chaos dwarf painting threads from the Infernal ashes of time. (see what I did there)

@Kaleb Daarki just hope they'll be enouggh different from Space marines and Mech playstyle-wise.
I could see also GW putting in some vehicles and making them a more flexible and fast army.

I hope so too, or perhaps this is where the automata come in, machines to plug the gaps that they physically fall down on.

    i just hope they don’t become 50’s sci-fi B movie looky likees.

  16. I’d like the league to be a heavy faction if that makes sense.

I can see them with the assault drill
Transporters and men or iron and automatons that are solid and imposing, im thinking thanatar level imposing and just as cool looking.

I don’t see them as a big number of boots wafty flighty delicate army, but I see them with near deathguard hard as nails toughness and resilience. Thats how I saw the mechanicum of 30k at its core.

However the league has advanced enlightened reasoning and solidity on its side free from rituals and doctrines where you spend an hour chanting just to flick the on switch.

I suppose I’d like them to be quite elite rather than swarming chaff and distraction units.
