  1. I prefer the current AoS tone as is. Hopefully they can play a little both ways from time to time and not wind up grim dark again or as a Warcraft cartoon.

It's pretty interesting as the setting is actually darker than old wfb, chaos is dominant here, but the focus on order counter punching gives color and hope.

I like AoS quite a bit.

  2. Recent GW female minis have them dressing appropriately by class not gender. Think about the two female Stormcasts...fully armoured. Or the Mist Weaver in Silver Tower. All dressed logically.

This Darkoath Warqueen is also dressed according to her class and not by gender. Very barbarian/sword & sorcery. If not a breastplate...would folks rather she be topless like the chieftain and all the other marauders?

GW is going in the right direction with their female models. They are dressed equal to their male counterparts and none are posed sexually.

The "chain mail bikini" comments are people looking for offense when there is none.

Edit: I like the current logo fine, not sure why we need a change there. Regarding other news... I'm still hyped with all the AoS minis I still need to paint...and now adding Shadespire...so I'm ok without more large scale purchases in the near future. New factions will come...in the meantime...save a little dosh or use the money to treat the significant other/family/friends.

On the firestorm live video they said that firestorm is the first of many similar campaign boxes, and they will do other ones in other realms. was also nice to hear the design rationale behind the content.

So it seems they see these campaign boxes as an extra route to bring in more allegiance abilities and flesh out more towns and geographies.

In a few years time we are gunna have soooo many allegiance abilities to pick from, its gunna be ace.

This is good to hear. I heavily committed my home terrain and mats to Chamon, so look forward to a campaign box set there.

The issue is really that GW has to deal with a competitive mindset and casual mindset, the competitive is often looking for ways to improve the game, be it for Factions or Core Rules, while the casual mindset just wants more and more models, narrative and all kinds of things that are the more physical aspect of the game. In my opinion GW is going back and forth well enough on this. GH2017 was for the competitive mindset, Firestorm and Blightwar for the narrative.

    I'd agree with this...in fact I do! ;)

As a narrative gamer I have my eye on Firestorm and Blightwar post holidays. GHB17...not so much atm.

Looks like its time to kick back and catch up on some painting ...

Hellz yes! This is where I am at this time and I'm knocking a lot of projects out.

I now have a higher percentage of models painted than ever before.

Time for a small update. I've started on the Khorne part of the starter box, wanting to try and finish the entire box. Which would be a first for me. Most of the starter boxes I've bought over the years have been half finished, neglected, or traded away, be it fantasy or 40k.

But no longer! (I hope :)) The quality of the AoS starter is that good. First up, the Khorgorath, which I converted a little because the original face.. well guess I like the weirdness of it, but it's also a bit messy and hard to make out. I've put chains on him as a little nod to the old Chaos 40k dreadnought background, being chained to the ship's hull in between battles.

Where'd  you get the chain? do you recall the scale or size?

Firestorm ho! Rock on Greywater Fastness allegiance! :D

Firestorm is a new way to play Warhammer Age of Sigmar, allowing you and your friends to battle for supremacy in map-based campaigns. As you win battles, you’ll be able to capture territories and build a kingdom of your own, adding powerful gameplay benefits to your army. Inside the box, you’ll find the campaign map, decks of dominion cards for each player and stickers to mark your impact on the Realm of Fire – all of these are fully reusable, meaning after one Firestorm campaign you’re free to set up another one. There are unique strategic challenges to map-based play for gamers, while for narrative players this is an easy way to structure a campaign. Firestorm has been designed to be compatible with any kind of play – you can fight your battles in tense games of Skirmish or try the new siege rules from the General’s Handbook 2017, or even string them together to create varied, rich, and thematic games.

    PreviewSep17-Firestorm4krcba.jpg

There’s more! Firestorm comes with 10 new allegiance abilities representing the unique armies of the Great Cities and those who would tear them down. The Great Cities are the kingdoms of Order in the Mortal Realms, each home to a unique and varied collection of humans, elves, duardin and Stormcast Eternals. You may remember some of them from the Season of War campaign, such as the Greywater Fastness, others you may have already explored, like Hammerhal, while some are completely new, like Tempest’s Eye. The new allegiance abilities are designed to represent how these cities fight; the forces of the Phonecium, for instance, are inspired to fight harder by the deaths of their comrades, honouring the Ur-Phoenix, while the armies of Anvilgard crush their foes underfoot in relentless marches. We’ll be previewing some of these next week in detail – what’s more, these are usable in any of your games, not just Firestorm!

None of my mats or terrain are set in the Realm of Fire.

  8. The back of the Shadespire box layout looks very much like an old school, classic gw board game. nice touch. i wonder if the side graphic and box size would also match?

I don't see Shadespire reaching X-wing or Magic levels. i think being unpainted hurts it a little. However, if GW did each faction in its own plastic color then it may work a little better. Sort of like that new AoS starter...these Stormcast models should have been in the gold plastic. Deathrattle could be white, flesh eater courts grey, skaven brown, orruks green, tzeentch blue, etc, etc.

Still....ever since I laid eyes on this back of box image...I've been hit with nostalgia. Combine that with my AoS infatuation and it's getting likely I'm going to give this a shot.

  9. One of the big bonuses to the new WHQ games is that we can use most of our AoS models.

That "double duty" for models doesn't seem as likely with Shadespire. Seems we would need special decks and such for each character.

I suppose my question is...does this complement AoS like WHQ does or is this a separate game only sharing the same setting?

  10. It'll be interesting to see if it's the Aelves (seemingly hinted to with the KO release) or Deathrattle (timed with this fall's targeted Shadespire release).

I'd like them to go ahead and updated Nurgle with a proper Battletome so they can be brought up with Tzeentch and Khorne.

I think games workshop confirmed in white dwarf that there won't be any death or destruction packs for silver tower but they did suggest further warhammer quest boxes would not be limited to just the silver tower setting. That's not quite confirmation future Warhammer Quest boxes but it suggests them as at least a possibility

Well, I suppose some support is better than none. I'm hoping more 'boxes' doesn't just mean packaging models together in a group like the Mighty Heroes pack.

I'd love to get another setting or two with unique creatures and tiles.
