  1. I really need to see new Dark Aelves models. I'm curious about the direction they take with them. I'm a bit surprised GW still hasn't introduced them. In many Warhammer card, board and video games Dark Elves were treated as one of the main factions, next to Empire, Greenskinz, Dwarfs, Chaos and High Elves.
  2. Let's be fair: it's not rumor thread for ages now. It's general discussion thread. If it was about rumors only this thread would be 30 pages long, not over 4100.
  3. Yes, it's better to start with grey. I don't remember exactly but I think I started with Mechanicus Standard Grey and then made most of the highlights with Administratum Grey. Finally added White Scar Air paint but to be sure I should check with my notebook. Edit: Removed other pictures not to disturb "rumour thread" .
  4. Stormcasts and SM are popular because GW decided them to be. If these two armies receive new minis every few months and in every starter set it's only natural that many people end up with having one. Same works the other way around. Fyreslayers are not popular because they haven't received new minis other than foot heroes for the last 8 years.
  5. Agree. Few months back I painted Combat Patrol box of Tau, with white armor and orange details. It was difficult for a couple of reasons. White Citadel paints are chunky and don't get watered down easily to be used with an airbrush. It takes a lot of coats to firstly base miniatures and then tidy them up. It's hard to highlight white. It took so much effort that I stopped painting Tau with that Combat Patrol.
  6. I'm the kind of painter that just wouldn't omit these details and leave them unpainted, even if it meant hours of frustration in the process 😉 But can't all of this be right to other armies as well, including Lumineths? Paint to the level you want and you'll be happy. I agree on the fur part. It looks good and it's fast to paint it to satisfactory level. Although I love flat surfaces ever since I bought myself an airbrush. Things like coats, walls, power swords, shields and armor look incredible in a matter of seconds. I highly recommend buying one to every Warhammer fan.
  7. Although Stormcasts are already cluttered with miniatures and it's overwhelming to build an army where you need to compare 60 warscrolls, even for an experienced player. Somebody earlier mentioned CoS to take their place. Judging by the latest cavalry unit they will be extremely hard to paint, with all those details and heraldry.
  8. Thankfully there were several dual sets released each year and in the past years I bought at least 5 of them, either selling one half or falling for the temptation to start new army. It happened to me that way to start collecting Tzeentch when I bought 2x Aether War set and later on DoK when they were put into a box with Nighthaunt. That's a Win - Win for both the customer and GW. And personally I would like to see a shift from Stormcasts to Lumineth Realm-Lords to be poster boys for some time.
  9. There are 40 new miniatures shown for Kill Team and it's even not a new edition starter set. It's a NARRATIVE EXPANSION. At the same show long awaited title, The Old World, presented 2 models. Just saying....
  10. Even if so, it's worth considering if putting people and money into Old World will pay off as good as would using the same resources for 40k or AoS. They are well established, have a huge fan base that always wants more releases. GW invested a lot to make AoS be in the place it's now. Also new Cities of Sigmar might not do any favor to the Old World as well. I can already tell it will look better than anything from Empire or Bretonnia and "being normal" was one of not too many pros Old World had over AoS.
  11. I wonder what is the plan for selling Old World to people. Honestly. I hope it's more than relying on sentiment because it won't work. A great majority of people who used to play WFB before have either migrated to other games/systems or have abandoned this hobby. There might be a few people who still keep their minis on a shelf and were faithfully waiting all these years for this setting to come back but how many actually could there be of them? And how about people new to GW or new to wargames in general? Why would they choose Old World over AoS? Because of the more realistic setting and world design? If I were to guess that's not really that important. Minis are. And those are far better and more fresh on AoS side. I really don't see how is this going to work if they are about to resell some really old minis, no starter set and poor support with fresh sculpts. Or this is what I assume after presentation of 2 (TWO) new minis for game's presentation. Compare that to AoS start.
  12. That's true. TOW is what HH is for 40k. Good news for AoS. But still I expected more from this show. Starter or at least more units shown.
  13. Cities' cavalry look awesome although I pity on somebody who will paint all those details. Fyreslayers are receiving a foot hero! Awesome! They only had 15 so far. Harbringer is incredible Gloomspite hero is beyond great. Need him right now Nice Ghoul model. Looks really cool. Congratulations GW on releasing this beautiful Ironjawz model. It took some time but this model is fantastic.
  14. I'm playing Nighthaunt and have over 3k points of them but I'm getting impression that GW ran out of ideas for them. Just black blankets covering some misty beings. I'd love to see something going beyond. Stormcast look exactly the same as always. Nothing to look here. I like the direction they took with FEC although the ape ghouls are awful, not offal. The main character ghoul looks really cool combining gore with dignity. I never thought I would say that but LOTR got the best miniature.
  15. Big Tyranid models look absolutely great. Space Marines are a synonym to boredom as always.
  16. I hope you are right on the "HH to 40k" as I love AoS but still I will consider that a total failure if 90% of the minis are the same as 20 years ago.
  17. Releasing two abandoned factions in a starter set sounds like a good idea to convince people that they actually learned a lesson from killing WFB. Now all comes to execution. Putting really old minis as a Grand Groundshaking Premiere of a new system would look like cabaret imo. It would be acceptable if some of WFB minis would be in the end in those armies but c'mon. You don't attract people with stuff they could have bought years ago even if it's about sentiment. Their feeling are located in the setting not the sculpts themselves.
  18. I would use a different term for that haircut but I enjoy this forum and don't want to get banned 😉 I thought for a minute to swap a head from Witch Aelves box but ended up in collecting DoK instead 😄
  19. These two minis look so great! If there was a helmet option I probably would have started a Stormcast army myself. I really dislike her appearance.
  20. Are Unbraneth the last army in the queue? Even a niche faction like Chaos Dwarfs will come out sooner? 😢
  21. I expect two new armies in the starter set. By "new" I mean fresh models. It doesn't matter if it's Bretonnia vs Tomb Kings or Cathay vs Kisley as long as new sculpts are shown. If however Old World is going to look like AoS versus sets (1 new hero + book + old minis) and they would like to resell 15 year old minis then farewell TOW. GW either does this job right or better not even start.
  22. It doesn't matter. There are a lot of people who are Fyreslayer wannabes but will never sign up for this army because of lack of development. It's been like 8 years and still out looks like an army of clones. Potential players will avoid it army until it changes.
  23. I on the other hand think that Ivory Host might be the best legion actually. 3 hits on every 6? During a game it could mean 20 or 30 additional to wound rolls.
