  1. Yea I have both models already, I just dislike them (I have a thing against the heavily armoured legs/bare chest/helmet setup in general) and Garrek, holding his hard-won offering, caught my attention as a man of action rather than just a drooling devotee (looking at you, axe-wielding Slaughterpriest). That's the kind of "priests" I imagine Khorne would favour more
  2. Yea maybe, it just crossed my mind. There'll be a lot of 6's to wound with 10 attacks though, especially if he gets to reroll the 1's from the juggerlord. Definitely trying it out for a few games.
  3. Btw regarding the Juggerlord in Skullfiend Tribe: Giving him the Gorecleaver while giving the +2A weapon to an Ex. Deathbringer w/ Impaling Spear, keeping them close to each other and within the Bloodsecrator bubble would generate 10 attacks for the Deathbringer. Nasty.
  4. Yeah but switch those skulls he’s standing on to a huge rock, a 40mm base and you’re good, atleast in my group. Maybe a different paint job. I think Garrek would be cool standing on a decapitated body, holding the head as a fresh offering to Khorne. That’s what a Slaughterpriest should look like IMO, not like our barking drunkard standard model.
  5. By the way, wouldn’t this guy make for an awesome Slaughterpriest?
  6. With Gorecleaver it’s still only 3 attacks though. I think he can do pretty fine with the Skullfiend tribe weapon, 5 base attacks will allow for a bit more reliable output.
  7. No I mean to place him elsewhere in that case, with units who would benefit more.
  8. Character question: I've been planning to run the Asp Deathbringer behind my Skulltake batallion (2x5 reapers, 2x1 khorgoraths) for some extra attacks. However I've been looking at the Exalted Deathbringer with Impaling Spear who could almost do the same amount of damage on a good day, without having to spend a command point and relying on bubbling (although 12 shouldn't be hard to fit the Skulltake in). Plus he can give me battleshock immunity elsewhere on the table instead. I'm relying on Skulltake to be my hammer though so they really need to smeesh. Thoughts? Which one do you think will generate most damage output?
  9. Which is why I'll be running mine (1x3) as just a bodyguard to my Juggerlord so he can go around and kill stuff. Should be enough to chew through any medium-sized tarpits. It might even better to assign someone else as general so he can be more free. 🦅
  10. Best case scenario we can view the points in the book as a trial period before GH19 is finalized.
  11. There's solid truth in this. I think you just spared me from hours of painful re-modeling.
  12. So, since we've gotten enough info to start making lists, I thought I'd give you the outline of my army to dissect. Ambitions are pretty standard casual-but-not-too-casual. Skullfiend Tribe Lord of Khorne on Juggernaut 160 -Artifact: Crowncleaver (+2A) Aspiring Deathbringer 80 -Artifact: Collar of Contempt (dispel spells+endless spell) Bloodsecrator 140 Bloodstoker 80 Slaughterpriest 100 10 Bloodreavers 70 -Meatripper Axes 10 Blood Warriors 200 ~Gorefists better now? -2x Axes 10 Chaos Warriors 180 ~will eventually upgrade these to Blood Warriors, or something else? -HW/Shield M Skullcrushers 180 -Glaives Khorgorath 100 Khorgorath 100 Skullreapers 180 Skullreapers 180 Skulltake battalion 140 Hex skulls 40 Extra command point 50 1980 / 2000 As mentioned, the Chaos Warriors will be replaced as soon as possible, but with what I’m not sure yet. My plan is to have a strong magic lockdown game and have the warrior units in the center, while having a strong right flank consisting of the Skulltake batallion + Aspiring Deathbringer. With the Skullfiend tribe bonuses/command abilities these should be able to chew through most units. The Lord and Skullcrushers will reinforce either flank - I actually like +2A on the Lord as it makes for more reliable output compared to Gorecleaver. I’ll probably struggle with big monsters, but who doesn’t! Thoughts?
  13. He pretty much has to be dedicated to one/two units for the entire game now. Beyond Skulltake batallion, perhaps he's not so useable anymore. I get that GW wants to move away from auto-include characters, but there were others that should've been dealt with first in this regard. Such as our non-wizard wizards with non-wizard wizard towers.
  14. While my pure mortal non-Gore Pilgrim army was subpar before the new book and looks to have a slight improvement with the new book, my fears about where the idea of Slaughterpriests would go have proven true. It was a real pandora's box. Instead of focusing on Khorne being the close combat army everyone wants and expects it to be, they've just let loose with crazy decorative items which make slaughterpriests even more of an essential part of the army. I am a big fan of the new anti-magic tricks we're getting though (I just don't like how they went about it), and I think the prospect of those haven't really been taken into account in the discussions here so far.
  15. Yeah I remember the days when Chaos Warriors and Knights were the most feared infantry/cavalry in the (WHFB) game. Just look at them now. 😢 Are BoK generally considered an 'easy' army to play compared to others (except for SCE)? Being a flagship army and all. Perhaps they want to keep us simple and mid-tier?
  16. Thanks. As you say I suppose there are other factors weighing in though such as survivability etc. But I can definitely see the need for a points drop. Sidenote, I've been fielding a unit of Chaos Warriors alongside the Blood Warriors for a long time. Perhaps that's where I'm confused because compared to them, the Blood Warriors are outstanding!
  17. Speaking as one inexperienced with playing as any other AoS faction, what exactly makes them weak?
  18. Aha, yea I listened to the youtube preview again (guy talks fast) and it seems you only have to give it to the "first character" and not the general. Cool! I'm leaning toward Skulleater tribe myself, which would give me a weapon with +2 attacks to hand out. I think it'd be a pretty good fit on the Juggerlord as well to have 5 base attacks. Ah decisions, decisions...
  19. Also I've been thinking about the Blood Warriors weapon choices. Since we're getting pretty easy access to re-roll to hit through the Slaughterhosts, do you think the double axes will be worth it over the brass knuckles?
  20. Yeah I was thinking of the Gorecleaver. Since if he gets the Slaughterhost (Goretide) trait he gets an artifact as well. You can let another character be the general I guess but who's a cooler general than the Juggerlord.
  21. Damn. Can you give several artifacts to one character though? Thinking of the Slaughterhost artifacts.
  22. They have gone pretty far on the 'wholly within' theme. Characters are really gonna have to hug their units, it's gonna take some time to get used to having to measure the distance from every model to the respective character. Is it as extreme with bubble characters in other new battletomes?
  23. That sounds a bit weird, since when would the skulls have a chance to affect enemy wizards, if they go away the same turn they were summoned?
  24. Has it been figured out how and when the Judgements "disappear" yet? On the Skulltake batallion, the Khorgoraths lost their +3 attacks but it seems every unit in the batallion gets the extra dmg on 6 to wound now (instead of just the Skullreapers). Useful on a Bloodstoker-whipped unit, for sure. I'm leaning towards that and the Skullfiend tribe, which'll be useful against units that rely on nearby buffers (such as the ones my regular Nighthaunt opponent uses). Especially if you can send the Hexgorger skulls to coerce wizards into moving from the other side of the table.
