  1. It's not quite the same. The KoS has spines sticking out between the scales.
  2. Most of the Nightvault warbands are OK in AoS. They are essentially leaders plus bodyguards with each leader having a decent ability or two. It will be very interesting to see the warscroll for the Ko warband. It might give us some hints about the direction the next Ko book is going.
  3. Recently they have got much better at updating the app to include the latest errata. The Khorne warscrolls have already been updated. It would be great if they could update battletomes and add the designers commentary. That really would make it the perfect AOS resource.
  4. The points adjustments come in the ghb which is only a few months away now. The biggest concern is that the fyreslayers may have missed the printing deadline. Ghb 2019 will be the first points patch for AoS 2. Stormcast came out just after the last ghb. They were never going to change their points until ghb 2019.
  5. Yeah, enjoy your cheap bezerkers while you can. I could see them going up to 150 pretty soon.
  6. I don't agree with this at all. The new beserk Fury ability is extremely useful against all the units that strike first. Against a gkot, a unit of 20 vulkites may well die, but before they do, they will do an average of 12 wounds back. Give them sling Shields to do a couple of mortals, and charge them into a gkot and they have a very good chance of killing it. If you put them into the battalion that lets them auto run 6 and charge with plus one they make a great suicide squad. There are multiple ways to add one to save rolls, so against units that don't do mortals they make a great tar pit.
  7. Looking over these warscrolls, there seem to be multiple ways to add one to save rolls. An extremely durable fyreslayers army will still be a thing. The magmapikes also went from range 15 to 18 which is pretty good.
  8. Just a heads up to say that all the updated fyreslayer warscrolls are on the GW New Zealand site. It will be interesting to see the new points because there isn't a single warscroll that hasn't been buffed in some way.
  9. GW doesn't want khorne players to have fun. The khorne FAQ is out.
  10. Next will almost certainly be a specialist games week. Some of their new stuff has been confirmed for April. We also have more for Blackstone fortress on the way. I could see us getting those two weeks then Slaanesh
  11. Just wanted to point out that something doesn't have to be in the ghb to be usable in many tournaments including gw's own events. It just needs a warscroll on the app and points in warscroll builder. That's how someone was able to take tomb kings to the last aos heat at warhammer world.
  12. It was certainly interesting to see a slaanesh related tease yesterday. It suggests that Slaanesh is not too far off. As for new armies GW releases seem to fall into 4 categories. 1- updated book with spells and scenery (fyreslayers) , 2- updated book with some new minis (khorne, Stormcast) 3- new book and minis expanded from existing faction (Dok, Ironjawz, Slyvaneth, nighthaunt ) 4- All new faction (Deepkin) GW have launched one completely new faction for AoS each year since launch: 2015- stormcast, 2016- Fyreslayers, 2017- kharadron Overlords, 2018- Idoneth Deepkin In his interview on the stormcast podcast Pete Foley said that he wants to keep introducing completely new factions every few books throughout the lifespan of aos. Since he is the guy who makes the big decisions it is logical to assume that we will get at least one brand new faction this year. At this point it becomes guess work. My money is on a new death faction. I think that the Aelves will be a 2020 release. Having Aelves as the new faction two years in a row seems a bit much. Chaos is already getting a lot of love this year, and there are three destruction books needing updates before we worry about anything new for them.
  13. It’s both. The faq says ‘use or benefit from’. I initially looked it up because I thought @PJetski was wrong but the opposite is true. Edit- it seems people can’t agree on this. Time to send an email to gw.
  14. Sorry @Walrustaco but @PJetski is right on this one. These are all allegiance abilities. So it includes spells prayers etc. Here is the FAQ to back it up. A prayer on the warscroll would be different. It could affect anyone if the wording permitted it. Regarding the rumour engine, the promise of new battletomes for each alliance after FEC went on preorder and the missing warcry image suggests a new death faction is on the way. This could well be it.
  15. They said at least one from each grand alliance. Slaanesh will already be the second chaos book since that announcement. We know for sure that Fyreslayers and Slaanesh are coming. The looncurse hint makes a Sylvaneth book a very high possibility. There was a rumour that ko and Sylvaneth would get updated battletomes alongside thier underworlds warbands. If we get a ko book too, that could mean 8 books in the first six months of the year. I think we won’t get an Aelves book until next year and slaves to Darkness will probably be saved until after all six Warcry warbands are out. It is not impossible that they will do a combined Orruk book and a combined Ogor book. If we do those plus free peoples, dispossessed, Tzeentch and Seraphon in the second half of the year we get six books in six months which is not impossible. This would bring us pretty close to being fully up to date. Personally I don’t think we will get that many and we may get an all new death book this year. My feeling is that we will get new books with only spells and scenery for ko, Seraphon and beastclaw raiders and a big release for new death and free peoples this year. That would make for 12 books this year which is pretty good really. It would also make for 4 big miniatures releases and and one medium sized one (gloomspite, Slaanesh, new death, free peoples and Khorne) which is the same as last year. (Nurgle, DoK, Deepkin, Stormcast and nighthaunt)
  16. Price is a major issue. The cheapest possible 2000 point build , maxing out on start collecting boxes comes in at £360. This can’t make a particularly well optimised list as the magmadroths are not that great. By contrast you can make a decently competitive fec list for £165. Also the sculpts are not the best and they lack variety. There are definitely ways to make the book better. Improving the magmadroths and making the whole army more elite would help with the price issue and the performance issue. Like many I was hoping for some more units but the terrrain but the incantations should help a little with the variety issue.
  17. Yeah these kits are not the best. The underworlds kit is much better. It is amazing how much difference a subtle tweak to the faces and poses makes.
  18. As I said earlier, I think the reason they didn't show mortals yet was so they could say this. The preview was very aos heavy. This was a good way of throwing 40k players a bone. I think warhammer fest next month will have much more 40k stuff. They can show aos mortals then as a balance the other way.
  19. That symbol is FEC not soulblight. You can see it in the firestorm supplement.
  20. Gloomspite got 12 kits. Nighthaunt got 14 not counting the starter set. Stormcast got 12 in their recent wave. All armies that already had some kits. 8 new boxes is not that big a release in recent times.
  21. Apparently they also said in the Q&A that they would become available soon.
  22. Regarding Slaanesh, I think we will get mortals. There are a few reasons. I went back and watched the reveal trailers for gloomspite and gsc. The gloomspite reveal was missing, the troggoths, the the dankhold Troggoth, the snufflers and the loonboss. The gsc trailer was missing the new buggy. Even khorne had the the new Herald as a surprise release. The adepticon show was very aos focused. The only new minis shown for 40k were the Slaanesh minis. in the preview article the section was headed Realm of Chaos, not aos. I think GW wanted this to feel like more of a dual game release. Showing the mortals which would only be usable in AoS would dilute that message. The hellstriders will look mighty lonely in the new book without any mortal friends. GW has gone from doing a mortal only book with the first chaos battletome to bringing them together with daemons in recent books. This makes the idea of a second mortal Slaanesh book unlikely. The cover of the battletome only has daemons on it but so does the Tzeentch book. Being the only chaos God without a mortal infantry unit would make them feel like the least important God. I doubt GW wants to encourage that opinion. I think there is a good chance we will see mortals at warhammer fest in May, with a battletome release later that month. An interesting side note is that six of the armies with allegiance abilities in ghb 2018 now have their own battletome. I would like to see gw give allegiance abilities to six more armies in the next ghb.
  23. They never did. In a seminar last year they said we would see cool new stuff for destruction in 2019. Presumably they meant the gloomspite. If we assume the lvo info about new battletomes for each grand alliance meant in 2019, then that promise is already fulfilled with the fyreslayers announcement. If we assume it means post Lvo, then we have another destruction battletome and interestingly another death battletome this year.
  24. I really wouldn't get your hopes up for new kits beyond what we have seen. While it is a shame that we won't see mini magmadroths or a golem unit, I do think that endless spell monster is the best one yet. The scenery piece also looks great. I would like to see some unridden magmadroths as a new unit type and a big buff to the elite infantry to let people build competitive armies with fewer models if they want.
  25. Although it feels like an AOS year 40k has probably had more new minis so far. AOS has had gloomspite and two extra minis. 40k have had big releases for gsc, chaos and primaris. The Khorne and Slaanesh minis are deamon only (so far) which can be used in both games. I think the future could look something like this: chaos specialist games fyreslayers blackstone slaanesh looncurse/ underworlds apocalypse forbidden power primaris Warcry This would take us up to about the end of July. This leaves room for another surprise or two for both systems alongside a presumably massive sisters release.
