  1. Glad they're doing something. I do hope that, eventually, GW stores will start accepting old sprues (by all means it can be limited to GW sprues to avoid slightly different compositions). Even better if they have some sort of reward scheme for bringing in your old sprues (ten old sprues gets you a £5 voucher), though that's certainly wishful thinking.
  2. I believe recycling polystyrene is expensive, as it involves heating it up to around 400C in a specific environment (no oxygen or it'll burn). I was under the impression GW didn't recycle old sprues (and presumably unsold minis) for this reason. I wish they did though, throwing away empty sprues never feels good to me.
  3. Yeah, whilst I get people wanting to avoid game long make combats, I do feel like the damage/survivability equation had seeing a bit too much towards damage for by liking. I spend ages painting a character, usually whilst doing so imagining lore for them, and then they get lifted in a single round of combat or shooting: it's a bit disappointing.
  4. I was very tempted, and I can't guarantee I won't still cave. But I've sold enough grey at a (small) loss to have mostly learned my lesson about buying stuff I probably can't find time to paint. I am, sadly, no longer fifteen ☹️
  5. That's what I've done. Krondys/Karazai is very tempting, but I have a big enough pile of grey already that I don't want to commit to buying everything. I'll buy issue 10 as well when it becomes available for pre-order, as I've wanted the Truthseekers for a while, but don't want to get the Kruleboyz warband with then it pay eBay prices. I'll probably try to pick up Bastian too when he becomes available.
  6. GW need to hire you to name their new heroes, cause you're surprisingly close with this.
  7. I don't mind the mechanic itself, but I think it should be much more restricted than it currently is. Having some powerful characters doing them is fine: it makes them feel powerful whilst ultimately not being overpowered because they don't have that many attacks. Having blocks of Lumineth Sentinels sitting masses of Mortal Would on 5+ arrows is just obnoxious. Basically GW need to stop throwing in Mortals on 6+ as the default extra kick for units. Extra hit or bonus rend are both viable alternative which aren't anywhere near as nasty, or even Mortals on a 6+ to wound for that matter.
  8. I'd expect we at least start seeing previews of some of the upcoming Battletomes and (hopefully) accompanying minis in the coming weeks if GW intends to fit them all into spring. I may have bought a bunch of Hedonites ahead of the coming price rise, and am very excited to see what GW does with their Battletome (please don't be bad).
  9. There's hope, but the Battletome release schedule is pretty packed and, if 10th edition 40k is coming soon, I don't want to be too hopeful. Better to be pleasantly surprised than disappointed. In any case, I'm sure SBGL will get new Grave Guard eventually, and their range is mostly pretty new, so it's not the end of the world.
  10. Yeah, I think of the four Death factions they are by far and away the one who most news a refresh, so I hope they'll get at least a Sylvaneth sized one. I am a bit disappointed SBGL aren't likely to get new Grave Guard, but that's a really minor thing in the grand scheme of things.
  11. Same. I'm not sure the best places to look for this sort of thing.
  12. That's what gets me I think. Other manufacturers using the same materials (I think model planes etc. Are all styrene), on a smaller scale, manage to sell their products for way less than GW. I'm willing to believe the prices of designing stuff is more expensive for GW (you don't really need concept art for model planes for example) but the difference in price is just ludicrous. I'm not at the point where I'm going to give up on GW yet. I'm lucky enough to have enough disposable income to be able to afford the price rises (though I'll have to cut back what I buy). But this has left a bitter taste in my mouth and I was seriously considering whether to give up. I have so little time to spend on the hobby anyway that in some ways giving up would be easier than trying to juggle my time, but I do like the creative outlet and I still appreciate Games Workshops worlds.
  13. My point is that if sales go down by enough as a result of this price rise, they may not be able to do that. Price rises do not necessarily lead to increased profits after all. Probably I'm being unreasonably optimistic/pessimistic, and GW have done some detailed business analysis to determine whether this will pay off or not, but it's not like they haven't over produced products that don't sell well in the past, so they are definitely capable of making a mistake in this regard. But your point about shareholders is likely what this is all about. As a publicly listed company they are kinda at the mercy of shareholders: they have to convince them every year that they are still a good investment, otherwise shareholders seem shares to buy something else, the share price goes down, and GW suddenly find themselves in financial difficulties. Being able to say "were raising prices by an average of 6%" will likely look good in a shareholder report in this regard, regardless of whether it will actually work.
  14. I don't know. GW products are luxuries. Very addictive luxuries, but luxuries nonetheless. If people have to choose between paying rent and buying food, or buying GW products most will go with the essentials of life. Raising prices is likely to reduce overall sales, and if GW haven't forecast accurately, might even hurt their profits.
  15. Personally I'd hold off buying anything that isn't already very new (Lord Kroak, the Starblood Stalkers and Huanchi's Hunters) until we've seen the full preview of Seraphon's next release. If I were to guess, is say the large monsters are probably all safe, but who knows for sure. Personally I think they are showing their age, though admittedly not as much as other Seraphon kits, so it's possible one it more of them will be redone.
  16. If they were Primaris Space Marines that's be Salamanders. Maybe that works in AoS too. To be fair, Skink is a real type of lizard so really GW need to rename them too.
  17. Well, looks like I know what my next army will be after S2D. These Seraphon sculpts are knocking it out of the park.
  18. Yeah, I thought Eldritch Omens (the Eldar vs. Chaos one for 40k) was pretty good, since it was almost entirely new minis, and served as a great way to kick off the big Eldar refresh, followed by Chaos getting their Codex. The Custodes vs. Genestealer Cult was much less cool since it was mostly old minis and was just the Codex announcement box. Basically: keep these boxes as precursors to big releases, not just a FOMO box pre-new rules.
  19. I get the feeling GW have given up on the duel boxes for now, or at least they aren't going with their 2022 pattern of almost every pair of battletomes getting a duel box to go alongside it. Given you can still find Arcane Cataclysm fairly easily (or at least could a month or so ago), I suspect these boxes didn't sell as well as GW wanted. I'd love a Juggernaut Lord. On the otherhand, the new 40k is surprisingly easily converted thanks to not having his legs moulded into the mount, so it's not the end of the world if they don't release one.
  20. I don't mind Hedonites being a single hero army (ideally it won't be a foot melee hero, what even that's fine) as they have a great range already. I just want their rules to be good... no wait, I'll settle for decent. Just don't give us a lazy copy paste battletome please.
  21. They're better: +1 attack, +1 damage to their claws; the champion's Gilded Weapon is not basically +1 attack; their abilities have changed to be "at the end of any phase, if they have taken any damage and are at least 9" away from enemies, they can move D6"" and "once per battle fight a second time with always strikes last"; +20pts for 3. Not sure they are good though: still fragile as anything, so that fight twice seems very likely to result in them being dead first. They hit harder than before, but not Ogroid Theridon hard. I for one hope they get a warscroll rewrite in HoS, but I'm not counting on it. As long as Painbringers are decent I'll be happy.
  22. As far as I'm aware we haven't heard anything yet. I'm really excited to see what GW do with it. I've got Christmas 2021's Sybarite Blade Carnival waiting to be used once Hedonites get a better book. The last few books have me optimistic: GW seems to be finding their stride with designing fun books now.
  23. Oh sorry, I hadn't seen this post. I had been checking here assuming he would update it like he has with Imperium. Sounds like Issue 5 is safely the Praetor Prime then.
  24. No it's definitely Water Temple Lumineth because (a) when you're underwater sound is muffled and (b) Lumineth haven't had a release in over six months now...
