  1. That puts the BOC squatted rumour to bed for now. If they don't want to alarm players just yet, they may well offer index and never replace it with a proper BT.
  2. That's another excellent piece of advice that should be repeated often, myself included ! To use my CoS example again, just because their minis terrify me now doesn't mean I won't attack them in the future. Having a baby also plays a part in reducing the amount of painting time available... But fortunately these little beasts grow up eventually !
  3. To talk about my quick experience with recent CoS minis, despite the fact that I've been painting for a long time, I hit a wall painting the launch army set, and particularly with freeguild cavaliers. I'm a slow painter, in Eavy Metal style (but without the talent that goes with it ) so it took me an awfully long time to paint them (5 weeks for 5 riders... 4 months for the whole box oO). Although I really like CoS minis (they're probably my favourite range in AoS at the moment), I'm switching to Soulblight now because the ratio of minis appreciation/time/speed of painting is much better for me. Finding the right balance between time invested, rendering requirements and minis appealing (gameplay is secondary for me) is really not easy sometimes !
  4. Exactly the same here... (and yet how I'd love to go to Warhammer World !)
  5. I confirm that this is an old artwork from 1st edition. Otherwise an empty article today if you're already used to the Mortal Realms. I hope we'll get some real infos, whether it's about lore, rules or minis, because otherwise it's going to be a long time until May.
  6. Curious... On French store, Gloomspite Gitz box is out of stock, while Soulblight is back in stock on UK and French store. So I don't know if that's a reliable clue as to what's coming out next...
  7. I think there'll be more new references for Chorfs/Malerion. 17 new kits combined for Votann (11) / WE (6), that's barely more than skavens will get at 4th launch (according to @SG Warhound infos, rats alone should get around 15). As for Chorfs, I still think they're going to "replace" BoC. GW probably won't want to increase the number of armies for AoS with too many things to release/update already. If you add 40k, you end up with 50 factions (!) to renew every 3 years. And I'm not even talking about the other games... It's a crazy pace to keep up (but it's entirely their fault, I'm not going to feel sorry for them).
  8. I can't see GW releasing 2 big new armies, with all new stuff that implies, in the same edition. Knowing that Chaos Dwarfs are definitely coming in 4th, that pushes Malerion and his followers back to 5th at best (I'd bet my life that they'll merge with DoK). Unless GW teases them with Warcry and/or Underworlds. Same possibility I think for Lumineth on Tyrion's side.
  9. Seen on a French GW store FB page, the announcement of an AoS campaign, from 06/04 to 23/06 (end of June... what a coincidence). The visual seems to be homemade, but they say they'll have more info on Monday. We can expect official communication from GW and not just from the store.
  10. The departures of Thomas Elliott and especially Paul Dainton (my favourite GW illustrator of all time) are very bad news for the quality of GW illustrations. I also hope they'll find good replacements (Igor Sid seems to have returned, at least to BL ?) but it's going to be hard to do as well. This newsletter art reminds me of the terrible period at the start of AoS when there was a lot of very poor quality artworks.
  11. I'm curious to see how stormvermins will turn out. I'm hoping there'll be more of an elite feel (even if they're only rats, after all ^^) than in the current kit.
  12. You can't imagine the frustration of not being able to explore more of AoS lore when you really want to (I read english on forums but I admit that I don't have courage to take the next step by reading an entire novel).
  13. I want to believe you, but unfortunately BL has decided to stop translating AoS novels into foreign languages. I'm sure they can't see any further than "it's not selling, so we're stopping", but it's the worst decision they've made to prevent AoS lore from appealing (at least to people who don't speak English). When you see that in 2024 BL celebration anthology, there are NO AoS short stories (is that the case with english version ? ... This is the first time I've seen this and it doesn't seem like a good sign. Especially in year with a new AoS edition.
  14. AoS characters seem to me to be struggling to gain popularity, so a secondary character like Gavriel... I think that, apart from the enthusiasts like here, a lot of people won't even realise that he doesn't exist any more. Even though I'm keen to see the AoS lore develop, I think Stormcast BT needs to thin out (SM syndrome). If "useless" entries can disappear without being replaced, that seems to me to be going in the right direction for this army.
  15. Ok, my little Adepticon recap here : Nice overall, but not whaoh effect of last year (can't have primarchs every year). The fact that no miniatures were unveiled for AoS launch box is a factor here. AoS : superb cinematic. Technical progress since 3rd edition. Skaven are going to have a great range. A little disappointed by Ruination chamber. Seems to be just veterans/bladeguards. The griffin looks nice (I like griffins). For once, I can't wait for more info on rules (please make 1k format nice). 40k : Zero interest. Next. Underworlds : I really like this humans fanatics (I'm not very objective about COS) ! Just the right touch of originality for AoS. Ghouls are blander but still nice. A box I'm going to buy for an excellent game (perhaps the best in GW catalogue right now if you like card-combos like Magic). Warcry : Meh. I'm not an ossiarch fan but I agree this minis are decent. The same goes for Sylvaneth. Yeah, I can't get my heart set on this box, but that's OK. Kill Team : Very cool Votanns ! If only I had time, manpower and an extra bank account, I'd make a 40k Votann army. Nothing special for GenCult, but I do like their colour scheme though. TOW : Very nice dwarf characters. The rest doesn't interest him. HH : No interest. Necromunda : No interest.
  16. If it's the same pattern as last year for 40k, we should have the contents of the new AoS launch box by the end of April (April 29, 2023 for the Leviathan reveal).
  17. It may still be announced for pre-order next Sunday. Just like the Nightmare Kill Team box. It's a bit strange to have the latest Adepticon announcements overlapping with those of the previous one, but it still fits in with the schedule.
  18. Tyranids are full plastic, if I'm not mistaken (excluding FW). However, there are still a few Finecast references in SM/DA/Necrons ranges.
  19. I wish there weren't so many new additions, which makes this army completely bloated, especially compared to the other factions, but it's a lost cause... We know, thanks to @Whitefang, that it's going to be a mix of new stuff (Ruination chamber/Death company-like) and thunderstrike updates to older units (new liberators seems like a safe bet to me, especially after the Realms of Ruin video game). Prosecutors thunderstrike would be great too !
  20. The clan rats have been redone, probably because all units in the launch box have to be new and you need a basic troop. Which is weird, I agree, other kits would have deserved an update much earlier like night runners, plague monks...
  21. We seem to have had this conversation in other times and spaces...
  22. I think it's possibly a nod to the days of Fantasy Battle when the Skaven were seen as a fable by the citizens of the Empire. But now I think it's more a reference to the Stormcast, who aren't so eternal after all... Hello ruination chamber.
  23. I may be wrong, but I still think that GW will let COS gradually become human-centred. It may not happen in a single edition, but I'd say at most during the 5th it will be done. They won't mind not following what they've written in previous books (referring to the Dispossessed Dawnbringers content). The 8th edition WHB dwarves are already visible in TOW stuff and dark aelfs already have the ground prepared by lore to disappear (tensions between humans and aelfs following Morathi's machinations).
  24. I think (and hope) that GW's aim is to limit battletomes' numbers. Disappearance of BOC "replaced" by Chorfs is a step in that direction. Otherwise, too many armies/minis to release/balance... it's becoming a logistical and planning nightmare with too many games, too many releases. Nice reveals otherwise. Gunnar's band are full of character and the other Darkoath leaks are a glorious addition to this STD sub-faction ! The gnomes team are super cute ! But that's another universe altogether (I'd see them more in the Everdell board game, for those who know). On the 40k side, big mek is cool and custodian HQ is pointless at best, ridiculous in its proportions at worst. AoS/Mortal Realms definitely has the best GW minis.
