Not sure if this was already discussed but the pattern of the banners looks like:
    1+11 = WH+
    2+10 = HH
    3+8 = Necromunda
    4+9 = KT
    5+13 = AoS
    6+14 = 40K
    7+12 only leftover Warcry ?
So maybe Chaos Choosen/Warriors new sculpts for warcry?

I'm very certain that 12 is a Chaos Space Marine helmet, hence it's 40K as well.

sorry m8 hagg nar is the protagonist subfaction, only one per faction

In Lumineth they went ahead and switched the twins to Iliatha and Sevireth to Helon, so I thought they were putting a little more thought into this.

As much as I’d love these hints to be Ogor verification it feels much more like coy “I guess we’ll see haha” general noncommittal to anything. I’m not getting hopes up.

Yes, exactly. That's what they usually do, paired with 'we'll let you know if anything comes up'.

Wel the best scene scenario at this point for the skaven would be a revamp of at least one clan (clan eshin in particular)

but we are talking about gw.

you never know what’s going through their heads

there is a good chance they’ll bring out another 10 or so stormcast units that do the exact same thing and look just a tiny bit better then the other hundreds of already existing boring fantasy marines instead of updating the skaven,

Although I do have hopes that gw will at least start to update the older range.

clearly they can do it, if we consider the announcement of the underworlds warbands

I'm really holding my thumbs for you, my friend. Even if they're not quite my thing, I think the new warband showed what creativity could be put into that faction, to incredible results.

Yeah, GW are strange, aren't they? It's a little more fringe than the popular examples of Skaven or Ogors, but just recently I noticed that Commander Farsight is still only available as finecast. I thought he was basically the most popular character in the T'au faction, and so are the enclaves as a subfaction. But that's what you get for not being a Primaris..

Yeah but it doesn’t bode well for a big range refresh, is what I’m getting at.

I for one never believed in a larger refresh, given the nature of AOS releases after Kruleboyz and Thunderstrike Stormcasts. Nighthaunt really got off quite well with the Scriptor, the Tibia Mariner and the Crossbow unit. DOK will likely just get the Gladriatrix and the new Underworlds warband (probably locked into Hagg Nar again).

But I could imagine more Eshin stuff for Skaven, even if the other clans just get refreshed packaging.

I keep wondering how people would feel if DOK and Malerion's Aelves were to share a battle line unit of basic Ulgu Aelves in the aesthetic of the Warcy/Underworlds unit?

I think that it would be nice but then the question of soup would lie over both armies from that point forward.

I personally believe that Malerion's troops (at least the humanoid ones) will be more militaristic looking than the Shadowstalkers. More akin to classic Spearmen and especially Black Guard. At least that's the vibe I got from what I read in the DOK battletome and the Ulgu section in the rules book.

At least until now there seems to be so much animosity between the two factions that I would find a shared unit quite odd.

    Hi Folks,

are there any good Alarith-Lists around or is Alarith kind of ****** at the moment?

Got a few games with a list building around Avalenor with a Stonemage, Loreseeker, Cathallar, 20 (4x5) Stoneguards and 30 Sentinels, etc but there is just no impact and i dont feel like to be a threat on the board 😔

And just recently I read of an Alarith-heavy Ymetrica list that went 4-1 and won a tournament. Apparently it looked like this:

    Avalenor

    Stone Mage

    Lord Regent

    3x 10 Stoneguard

2x Alarith Spirit of the Mountain

At this point I think we are never going to see Malerion.

Now morathi is the center of all narratives, DoK's army has the most releases in the last year and half with two battletomes, one broken realms just for her and another one wich she was protagonic (Morathi speaking was the teaser of broken realms 4), two vs boxes of the last 5 (or 4?), two underworlds bands, one warcry band (the only non chaotic faction that gets one), two heroes in two separate releases and endless spells (the last book to receive endless spells).

GW wants Morathi to be the face of order, or at least aelves and i don’t think they want to risk all this effort with a more hyped/more important character that rules the same realm and uses the same magic with almost the same units.

    Malerion seems to be dead.

Don't know if I would agree that Morathi is the face of Order. These rather obscure armoured warriors of the god of humans did receive quite a few things in the last few months... I think five named characters (Garrus Steelsoul, Yndrasta, Bastian and the two dragon princes) as well as quite a few new units. And when it comes to Aelves Teclis and the Lumineth and Alarielle (who is due to get a new tome too) are very present, active and important as well.

No. Not even close. The idea that an author's work represents that authors views IRL is ridiculous and myopic. Authors write things to make a reader feel something. Not to replicate their worldview. If that were so, then every GW author would be a genocidal maniac. And that's just not the case.

some authors might write something that is a replication of their worldview, some of the time. But trying to draw a 1:1 link between what a FICTION author creates in their art, and what they truly believe, is generally a fool's errand.

    Depiction is not endorsement.

Hence it's usually best to turn to the text itself and the historical and cultural context in which it was written to examine what ideas and themes are present and depicted as positive or negative. That way you can for example analyze JK Rowling's texts for what they are worth without having to take all the nonsense into account she tried to add to the texts retrospectively.

  10. I don't have it in front of me right now but the Lumineth tome has a snippet on a Zenith envoy being captured by shadow demons who work for Malerion. The Zenith mage manages to escape but decides to keep the demons' attack a secret, in order to not put a dent into diplomatic relationships between Malerion and the Lumineth.

Yeah, from what I learned around here, Ymetrica/Alarith were never the competitive way to play Lumineth to begin with and have lost a little more with the erasure of the Alarith Temple battalion.

I guess if you'd like more impact you could try taking out one of the heroes and some Sentinels or Stoneguard and add another Mountain Spirit. Maybe Gotrek? A way of teleporting Stoneguard could also be useful, to put your slow but hard to kill infantry where it needs to be; e.g. a Hurakan Windmage or even Teclis.

I want to reply to this: I see your point, but the problem – possibly – is a sexualized representation of women which is, believe it or not, an inherent aspect of our chauvinist society. This is a fact, for ages, in figurative art. And GW know that. If you don't see the problem, watching a Nurgle army and a DoK one, well, maybe this is demonstration of the fact :)

I think on what we disagree on is what we consider to be sexualization. To me it's a female depiction of powerlessness or just being there for (male) pleasure. So if we had a Daughter of Khaine model on her knees, blowing someone a kiss, that I'd consider sexualized. But a Witch Aelf in mid-air, her face fierce and her daggers ready to strike is just a lethal female warrior, not a victim nor a prize. Not any more sexualized than a barbarian with a bare chest, arms and legs, be they man, duardin or saurus.

But I do unterstand there are probably lots of people, male, female etc., who'd rather agree with you on this point than with me. I've never felt sexualized or objectified myself so I can't claim any authority whatsoever. I just wanted to present my rather uniformed view on the topic.

Does the army of scantily clad chainmaille bikini elves actually appeal to female audiences though?

You could also ask: does the army of bloated and mutated worshippers of the god of plagues actually appeal to male audiences though? Does the army of scantily clad axe-wielding warrior dwarfs with orange beards actually appeal to male audiences though? Does the army of eel-riding and soul-stealing deep sea elves actually appeal to male audiences though?

The answer: yeah, sure it does. At least to some. Female wargamers aren't a monolith with a fixed set of features in taste. And the same holds true for male gamers and all the genders and sexes between and outside of that spectrum. Some male gamers for example enjoy sex appeal and cheese cake in their armies, others acticely despise these sorts of things.

When it comes to Daughters I personally don't even think of them as 'too sexy'. Their lore doesn't even mention sexuality, their poses are aggressive, not inviting. Their boots don't feature heightened heels. And models like Khinerai or Melusai are even quite monstrous. Sure, Witch Aelves and Sisters of Slaughter wear what could be classified as thong bikinis, but Marauders for example show a lot of skin too, as do Fyreslayers.

("Bah, that Bloodbowl hating Lumineth guy again. Thought he wanted to shut up for a while when he didn't get his pity party"

I plan to follow up on discussing opinions and respectful conversation on TGA as well as apologizing to Bloodbowl fans; I just don't know how I want to go about it yet. Big thanks to @Kaleb Daark and @Greyshadow :))

I think it’s pretty warranted, honestly. Complaining about a small and historically undersupported specialist game with a limited release pattern and its own specifically allocated resources is rather ugly and entitled behaviour, regardless of the admittedly irritating peaks and troughs of AoS releases.

It’s essentially the same impulse as the no less unpleasant ‘please squat X faction/range so the one that I personally like can get more kits’, which has been the line thrown at a lot of AoS by some 40k fans. Or, like, the line that was thrown at about half the Lumineth range but a lot of people who didn’t personally like them.

I have, at no point, explicitly asked for Bloodbowl to be discontinued. I was, admittedly, complaining and musing what could be. But I also made clear that it was just "not my cup of tea". But that's enough to call me behavior ugly and entitled? Thank you, that's just beyond kind.

Guess I'll be showing up here a little less now.

Yeah, hate to break it to you that blood bowl is a separate game made by a separate team that has zero impact on AoS releases. So you just look bad.

Wow. That was quite rude and absolutely unwarranted, and I think you look bad by attacking me in such a way. As do those who reinforce such behavior by the way of likes.

I know this will garner some confused emojis but...

All the time and money they could use for amazing new AOS stuff if they didn't decide to keep nonsense such as Bloodbowl around...

It's just not my cup of tea. Not at all.

  17. Hopefully they don' t do another 'technologically advanced shooty race without psykers'. Would like T'au to remain their own thing, gameplay wise.

But just judging from the look I really like these guys! And yes, Odin is Wotan in German/Germanic, and the W in German is pronounced like the V in English.

really cool paint jobs here, I normally only lurk around the Stormcast section but I have a lore question as I dont have access to the book.  What is Teclis' current position on the Idoneth, and what do the Lumineth think of them?  In the IDK book there is a view that he was an uncaring god who created them and was going to destroy them when they didnt turn out right, and was only restrained by Tyrion.  does any of the lore you've read contradict that?

Hey there. No, that's pretty much it. The Lumineth book says that the first created were mentally and physically scarred by their imprisonment inside Slaanesh in such a way that they were close to insanity and that their scions would be born with meagre souls doomed to wither quickly. So "in his grief" Teclis almost destroyed them but was held back by Tyrion. So I guess at least the part about Teclis being uncaring is not quite correct.

As far as I'm aware there's nothing more on the Idoneth in the book. Certainly nothing that would explain why Idoneth are the Lumineth's only eligible allies.
