  1. It really depended, to be honest, on opponent and scenario. I think most frequent would still be dryads, just cos 20 is so good. But if playing a big monster, it would sometimes be bows, whilst if there was a lot of high armour in the opposition then I would summon scythes. In one game I even summoned a Treelord...
  2. Basically set up shop in the woods, Alarielle sat within 6" of two, surrounded by dryads. You are on the objectives so enemy has to come to you. Use Alarielle to take out support characters, dryads to win the grind off, then in the end game alarielle can be a beast. All alongside this you have the Phoenix just being immense and debuffing everything or slowing stuff down.
  3. I've been playing they don't. They're not part of the original battalion, after all.
  4. Do you have any hunters? You could drop him for 3 of them and a branchwraith or wych?
  5. Not sure I rate the Ancient in there, truth be told. Outside of Gnarlroot he seems overpointed. The list I was playing worked on taking position turn 1, then drawing enemy into the woods. Dryads deal with hordes, magic and Alarielle with big guys. Plus Phoenix is sheer filth.
  6. This was me. It was great fun. Full list is below. It's very tanky, as you say, but it's also surprisingly killy. I got 8k kill points in total, I think. Dryads can kill when generating additional attacks on a 5+ and re rolling to wound. I also could have come 2nd if I wasn't an idiot in the final game, on stream ?. 7. Great summary by Isotop there. I know the stats show that Swords are better, but whenever I think about how I'm using Hunters, they're normally in cover and often my own Wyldwoods. Cos they plant their roots, as Yoshiya says, I think they would normally not get all of them in if I took Swords, but with Scythes they do.
  8. It's not an ability. It's a missile weapon. It's listed under her profile as a missile weapon.
  9. @Kaylethia equally the ability doesn't specify that it doesn't need Line of Sight. And it is a missile weapon.
  10. Where in Drycha's rules does it say you ignore LoS? That would be the ability taking precedence. Just because it doesn't mention something, doesn't mean it ignores it, if it is in the core rules.
  11. It's a good point, @Isotop, as the Medusa has the same wording - it mentions visibility. I just think that purely because they do mention it, doesn't change the fact that the core rules now say that missile weapons need line of sight, which is what this is. I'm a Sylvaneth player, so it's not as if I have an agenda here. I love the idea of sitting Drycha in woods spamming out mortals, but just as it is, I don't see any evidence suggesting her missile weapon ignores the core rules for missile weapons.
  12. So you have changed your mind @Isotop? Think it does require LoS?
  13. It's listed as a missile weapon. So it has to follow the rules mentioned above. In the same way that you can't run and use it - it's down as a missile attack, so it has to follow all the rules of a missile weapon. I'm afraid I disagree with you and @Isotop. Think it's clearly covered under the core rules. If it wasn't listed as a missile weapon, like the dragonbreath ability or Heraldor, and was merely something that happened in the missile phase, I'd agree.
  14. @romhi the core rules say: "MISSILE WEAPONS In order to attack with a missile weapon, the model using the weapon must be in range of the target unit (i.e. within the maximum distance, in inches, of the Range listed for the weapon making the attack), and the target unit must be visible to the model with the weapon" It's listed as a missile weapon on Drycha's profile. It may have been played previously as not needing LoS, but I guess it came up less then? Now, with Wyldwoods rules, probs more likely to happen. I really think it clearly needs LoS.
  15. Think it says a a wood within 6" of the caster in the rules.
  16. Hi Lenny, I think it does require line of sight, unfortunately. It is listed as a missile attack, and in the core rules a stage of using a missile attack refers to needing line of sight.
  17. That's really not how it's worded. "A" means a single unit. Unit is singular, for it to be multiple units, it would need to be unit(s). Otherwise it would be the most amazing battalion in the world.
  18. @Isotop it has been FAQd, I'm afraid.
  19. I think 4" range would be great actually, loads of cool uses for it. Unfortunately think the artefact caps it at 3?
  20. I was doing similar with durthu and alarielle with my old list (durthu with ethereal). Pretty certain it's just normal wounds, it'd have to mention mortal wounds to include them. Still a useful ability.
  21. Hi Ben, not sure if you are accepting grudges on this? If you are, can I grudge @Chris Tomlin please. Thanks, Laurie
  22. Is there a reserves for this chaps or just a case of looking out for drop outs as and when they happen? Thanks.
  23. I think you could Romhi. Possibly a bit overkill though? Doesn't Dreadwood do it pretty well by itself?
  24. The idea I had in my head was putting them in a wood in/near your own deployment. If you walked them in, then they wouldn't need deadly tests. Might be an issue with magic casting nearby though, I agree.
  25. @dmorley21 I'm starting off with Ironbark, so think it could work. I agree, I like the idea of 20 Ironbreakers (If you can get them into a Wyldwood, that should be a nice combo!) I actually would combine them with a Runelord - the 6+ ward save on them is cool, as is the boosted dispel, especially now it's 30"! The only thing I would note, is these will limit you elsewhere. I don't know what else you fancied taking, but I would put aside Alarielle, for example. Treelord: 240 Tree Revenants (2 x 5): 160 Branchwych: 80 Ironbark (inc Household): 180 Ironbreakers: 280 (I think?) Runelord: 100 =1040
