Yeah it’s fair to say it can go either way.

I just feel it’s not gonna be as big a change because it still feels like we’re riding off the waves Broken Realms caused so we’re still on “tour” around the Realms to see what’s changing(getting refreshed) on the ground level, what hidden gods are coming out of the woodwork and the new narratives picking up the plot lines BR didn’t resolve.

With how lower stakes the current Dawnbringer books are the build-up looks a lot more laid back to me like we’re only entering another chapter in AoS rather than a massive shake-up Malign Portents & Broken Realms were.

Could be wrong but it might be AoS5 with the long awaited Tyrion & Malerion that finally sees that as we don’t have to play catch-up with the older factions by then(hopefully).

I agree mate. I can see 4.0 being a 'Catch Up Edition' small rules changes with big releases.

Updating most of if not all the remaining WHFB Factions.

Ogor Mawtribes. Skaven. Beasts of Chaos.

And giving range refreshes or Wave 2s or even 3s to a lot of the 1.0/2.0 Factions.

Fyreslayers. Idoneth. Kharadron. Ossiarch. Lumineth. Kruelboyz. Stormcast.

And on top of that releasing Chaos Duardin all in a big lead up to 5.0 having the return of Tyrion and Malerions Aelves.

These predictions are pretty realistic. Games always have at least a sizeable release for every Grand Alliance every edition.

For Death, FEC have already been done, NH are pretty big, I could see Ossiarch wave 2 or a small SBGL release with new grave guards.

Destruction I think it's gonna be Ogres because of the new gorgers. But Gitz and Warclans are popular armies so I they'll always get something (fingers crossed for Bonesplitterz)

Order, SCE get their obligatory beginning of edition wave, hopefully it's not 100% new units and it's updates to AoS1 SCE sculpts. And Cities needs more waves to feel more complete, we're missing Tyrion and his Lumineth, and obv Malerion, and FS need a big upgrade, and IDK and KO need small upgrades, and Kurnothi... If I were to pick which ones will happen for 4th I'd say Cities wave 2, FS wave 2 and Kurnothi because of their role in Dawnbringers. For Tyrion & Malerion we just don't know.

Chaos already has a lot on its plate with Chorfs and Skaven but yeah I'd like a Nurgle and Tzeentch upgrade. And also I'm willing to bet Beasts get a range refresh next edition.

Hoping for Beasts range refresh as well, if they do I think itll be 3.0 Sylvaneth sized as having Skaven refreshed and Chaos Duardin released is already quite a bit.

I could also see Tyrion coming this Edition at the end of the cycle in the new Narrative. Building towards Malerion in 5.0.

I’d settle for AoS 4 or 5 giving some much needed reinforcements to the Bonereapers who have a 20 unit range. Any Death faction beyond that either just got a bunch of stuff (FEC) or isn’t nearly in need.

I think its only logical that the next Death update is Ossiarchs Wave 2.

I could very well see Death and Destructions updates this Edition being an Ossiarch Wave 2 and Ogor Mawtribes refresh.

Single mini updates for the rest of Death and Destruction with the slightest possibility of a Mancrusher update for the Sons, if not they miss out this Edition which is fair enough.

Skaven refresh and Chaos Duardin releases for Chaos with updates to Tzeentch and a small update to Nurgle.

Order will recieve the largest with new Stormcast and Wave 2 for Fyreslayers, Idoneth and Cities of Sigmar with Lumineth getting a small update as well.

My predictions have been made. HAVE AT ME @Whitefang

Very likely. I’m thinking based on Poseidon’s Hippocampus(high five to people that remember that unit from Age of Mythology RTS) while their Eastern inspiration side nods that the Zodiac has the horse for the water elements.

Will be interesting to see how that translates to units since they opened up design room with “River Aelementals are the most numerous of the spirits” so they can throw in any kind of water units they can think of while the Pachyderm Sages give them a tanky ally.

Which does leave Deepkin fans envious but we all know the solution.

In regards to the Cogfort we have been receiving models that are the same design to Hammer and Bolter animations recently such as the Blacktalons and now the Callis and Toll set. With what looks like the Darkoath riders coming they did show up in the Monsters episode of Hammer and Bolter and there was a cogfort in it as can be seen from the promotional image when the episode was announced.

I want nothing more for COS than for Cogforts to come to AOS.

I think its more of a matter of when then of if. GW plastics have come so far in such a short time.

I'm of the mind that if something happens to BoC, it will be the current models shifting to TOW and a new range released for AoS. There's a lot of excellent design space for weird mutant beasties, but the "all goats" motif of current beasts does put a design limiter on how far they can stretch the envelope before the models don't look like they belong.

An overhaul would allow them to add Pestigors, Khorngors, and updated or faction specific chaos spawn, and then release rank-and-file BoC who tie the disparite god-specific beasts together aesthetically.

There's a LOT of design space available if they overhaul BoC, I find it hard to believe that GW would pass up that kind of opportunity (especially since, as others have said, it allows them to create a copyrightable IP in the process.)

    3 hours ago, Gitzdee said:

This might be an unpopular opinion. I would love for BoC to distance themselves from the god specific designs, those could still have a home in the other tomes. I would love to see a version of beasts i dont ever want to encounter in the woods. Keep the goats and bulls and add things like bears (honey RE?), badgers, moose etc and throw it in the AoSification mill.

I would love for Beasts of Chaos to interpret different animals and beasts into their ranks. Even if we keep the basics as AOS has untold numbers od creatures. Keep the Goats and Bovine but add in more.

Bears, Big Cats, Deer, Horses, Dogs.

    Just make them more beastly!!

  7. Theyre not going anywhere.

In my opinion after some thought there is only one explanation.

The Beasts of Chaos minis as we currently know them are moving to TOW.

At the same time this happens Beasts of Chaos in AOS will recieve a massive line refresh.

That is what I believe will happen.

Beasts of Chaos are going to become Legends. Very shortly they will not exist in AOS as a supported product as they are integrated fully into Old World.

    @Whitefang Could you confirm that?

Im gunna need a confirmation from @Whitefang as well because this is absolutely ridiculous if true.

Unless it means Beasts become something else like Cities this is just a major kick in the teeth for no reason.

Call me cuckoo For coco puffs but I reckon each of the Harbingers will bring, and so far, has brought a respective King. The Marrow Scroll Herald linked to Ushoran and the Gloomspite Harbinger brought us Trugg.

So we are yet to see A king, or something similar for Both Nurgle and for Fyreslayer. My money is that these are for “Nurgle king” equivalent, no idea what Fyreslayer would have as a  “King”

I’ve not been following Dawnbringers lore nor any news about it much so apologies if already discussed or disproven.

4th edition will almost certainly be revealed at Adepticon (March 20 to 24) and will likely launch in June.

Dawnbringers 4 is being released February 10

Dawnbringers 5 will likely be released around Adepticon, and Dawnbringers 6 will be released in April/May or just get canned like the Alarielle Broken Realms book

It seems like there have been some setbacks in the release schedule due to whatever caused Legion Imperialis to get delayed.

Hard to get excited about Dawn 5/6 if there's a new edition within a few months!

Was there actually supposed to be an Allarielle book!?

Thursday is guaranteed to be Heresy/Imperialis, Monday will probably be the Custode or Ork mini if it's not for Blood Bowl or Necromunda.

Honestly beyond Dawnbringers there's not really any slots for AoS releases between now and 4th in my opinion. If they had a surprise battle tome coming we'd have hints of it, and there probably won't be more than the two releases for DB 5 and they won't reveal DB 6 for another month or two.

Dawnbringers VI will most likely be the Khorgus Khul Daemon Prince, if the narrative indees goes that way and the Chaos Marauder Horsemen.

After Dawnbringers wraps up we will probably have a few months of quiet before the marketing and hype kicks in for 4.0.

Speaking of trolls and snarfang, do you guys think they would get any new ones? Imo they could do some really creative stuff with plain troggoths that look like burial mounds/kurgans when they sleep. Also if we get a wolf chariot it better be a sleigh.

New Troggs are always welcome. In the Lore they literally adapt to their environments and Realm Specific upgrades are the perfect way to do this.

Also Im hoping for a Fellwater AOS upgrade in 4th if not 5th Edition.

From a Chamon POV, how do those factions fit in? Tzeentch and Skavens are pretty solid in Chamon, but what about the rest? Is there any major location/ narrative from any of them that happened in Chamon?

I dont think Realms have much to play in the way of releases. 2nd Edition was Death and Shyish focused and we got Lumineth Realm Lords and Sons of Behemat in that time. Only the narrative is really affected.

Took a peak on the 40k slated releases and until adepticon it seems like we'll starve a little. All I've counted has been:

    -orks (just a new HQ)

    -Custodes (just a new HQ)

-The complete FEC release (I mean, how much can it be delayed?)

-Dawnbringers 4 (I mean, how much can it be delayed?)

-The KT box? The eldars vs scouts was delayed, but this one may get delayed as well

    -Bretonian knights on foot

Oh, yes, probably GW will release something else sooner, who knows if we'll get 3 dawnbringer books on 6 weeks. But it seems like there isn't much else being cooked during february? Kinda weird. Wouldn't be surprised if they release something shown on LVO a little bit sooner than expected.

(Alltho, I dunno if there is any preview scheduled before adepticon)

I think by having Dawnbringers V shown off weeks before we got IV means the schedule is out of whack again.

I get so so so excited at the Narrative and cannot wait for 4.0. New Edition, New Hype. Everyone crosses their fingers for their Faction to be next.

I have a very strong feeling in my Gut, which is a very good thing for an Ogor, that the following Factions are getting love next Edition.

    Ogor Mawtribes.

    Fyreslayers.

    Idoneth Deepkin.

    Skaven.

    Tzeentch.

    Beasts of Chaos.

Maybe it's time they start planning those narrative campaigns as something to span the whole edition, with books being released every six months, and not as a rush-to-the-finish-line effort to shoehorn into ever-shifting schedules right at the end of edition...

Personally as someone who puts Models and Narrative far above anything else in the hobby I would love more Narrative books throughout the Edition. It would also help Blacl Library in being able to reference or even place characters on those battlefields to help create a more 'Lived In' world.

Maybe a heavily armoured Warlock model will be coming with Dawnbringers?

"Then a thud echoed. Katchrikk’s glee choked. Another heavy impact saw the smoke ripple. A hulking shape stomped into view at the lip of the spire’s savaged gash – a figure entombed in a walking, gun-studded coffin of green-tinged metal.

"A keening, whirring din rang out. Ignoring Zzzit’s scream, Katchrikk raced to arm the spare warhead, as the generator mounted to Queelum’s armour roared  – providing him the strength needed for the other Warlock to heft a ratling gun single-handedly, its barrels whirring and keening to life."

The main issue we have is we don't know how much it has been used by Underworlds, which had two seasons set in the Gnarlwood as well.

We've got both The Great Stinkhorn and Spinecrawler Webs that could tie into Gloomspite. Personally I'd assumed The Great Stinkhorn tied into Grinkrak's Looncourt. That said most of the Warbands we have gotten do line up with something on the map so I'm going to be hoping for a Spiderfang vs Centigor set for the next release

Edit: Maybe the Spider-Incarnate is being saved for that, added to a box instead of terrain as a monstrous creature that warbands can recruit/fight

Oh I wish they would bring back monsters like they had with the Mindstealer Sphiranx and Fomoroid Crusher!!

I was checking again (and again, and again, and again...) the Callis & Toll minis and noticed that maybe we are being spoiled a little bit?

Either the group is too presumptuous after getting such a name or they come with a spoiler implicit in their name.

They had better not just have spoiled their own Narrative...
