No idea if this is accurate, but I saw someone say that even the trebuchet from the latest Bretonnian model pictures should not yet have been invented at the point in time TOW takes place

I went and dug up my Bretonnia Army Book, and imho it's pretty vague whether 'the king' refers to A king or Louen himself. I think there's some leeway there.

I think the Soulblight vanguard set/start collecting should also work just fine in TOW, since it's mainly updated model kits of things that already existed in Fantasy.

I'm pretty happy then as with that + classic red-trimmed WHFB crypt ghouls and zombies box, I'll have a small Vampire Counts army ready*

What being called "Age of Sh**mar players" for 8 years does to mfs. Don't act like you didn't see it coming. The WHFB community always treated AoS players badly, don't expect the same AoS players to throw you flowers now that Old World is around the corner. Of course they're gonna feel scorned and resented.

Maybe if the way bigger sect of WHFB players that hate AoS for a living hadn't been a bunch of toxic gatekeepers since 2015, we wouldn't be in this situation. I'm all for entente and prosperity between communities, and it's sad when there's bad blood between some of us wargamers. Because it harms the hobby. But don't act like WHFB fans weren't the ones to have thrown the first stone.

Oh c'mon, now this is getting ridiculous. I feel second-hand embarrassment reading this on TGA of all places.

Have there been people online who have torn AoS down and given it kindergarten-level nicknames? Yes. There's also people online who post hate speech for laughs. For my own sanity's sake, I don't want to view 'people online' as representing the whole of an entity, whatever that entity might be.

Hopefully you realise that some miserable person tearing AoS down is not representative of what a regular WHFB fan thinks of AoS. The, if I may be honest, juvenile and overly dramatic grandstanding at display here is pretty silly when one remembers this is a forum for plastic toys (painted and collected by adults!). Like, congratulations, you get to be snide because someone onetime drew a comparison with AoS to ******. Is...is that productive?

    Like,

We're still talking about plastic toys, right?

    Right?

I have a pounding headache, so im not up to checking, but are the artillery crew on new bases? Interested to see if they are models or tokens in the new rules as i prefer artillery on one base together.

To me it looks like new bases.Q8wrCjFJwoxIWSm4.jpg.14a7a4fd7fcdc31df1176e9da9d7f61d.jpg

  5. Apparently controversial opinion: I'm fine with the old models. I find them comforting and nostalgic in my geriatric old age of 28. Absolutely ancient.

I never collected enough Bretonnians to even reach 1000p, so I'm just happy to be able to slot new old models next to my OG ones.

They're not a monolith but it is inevitable that in WHF spaces the AOS hate comes out at some point. Whether it gets pushback, or gets shutdown, or even ignored depends on that space sure. But for whatever reason, some fans cannot accept that GW killed fantasy and not AOS. So here we are, going around and around. I'd love to see the day where I can encounter WHF discussions "in the wild" (i.e not here) and not see AOS hate that is well-agreed-upon. Does not seem to be soon unfortunately!

Something something 'two wrongs don't make a right'

Yeah it's cringe (how do you do fellow kids?) when WHFB fans rag on AoS, but it's equally cringe to see TGA's hour of hate for WHFB. I'd even say the latter is far more disappointing because I look upon TGA highly, while the corners of the Internet that tend to rag on AoS are...well, if someone looks highly upon Facebook, Reddit or the like, I weep for them.

I don't understand the need for adults to diminish each other's rules frameworks for their plastic toys. It's not going to bring the wife back.

Wow, what a handsome lad! 😍 Kurnothi are, to me at least, such an interesting concept for (a)elves that it pains me to know GW hasn't really done anything with them yet. I know this will be heresy to some, but I find the design of Sylvaneth as a whole incredibly boring - and despite of the ongoing 'haha Duardin are best amirite?' joke that says a lot, as the dryad miniatures are legitimately my favourite WHFB era minis and I'm a certified Drycha Hamadreth fangirl (I can fix her). But the rest? Couldn't interest me less. I'd rather collect a small Soulblight army than try to force me be inspired by the rest of the Sylvaneth range. And I have! And the undead are, despite as murderous as dryads and Drychas, far less ecologically conscious, cute nor made of bark.

But Kurnothi? That's peak (a)elven perfection. If I could add hot furry beast aelves next to hot tree women, my wallet would be already empty and I'd regret my life choices that brought me to that moment. And the undead would be banished to an ebay auction in Shyish. Such a missed opportunity.

This guy was one of my favourite minis back in 2003 when I got back into Warhammer. It's weird looking at him now and realising how poor the detailing is on him compared to modern minis, since he was an absolutely top notch mini back then.

I think he'd be a great choice for a glow up. He's very iconic.

Absolutely agree - at the time (give or take a year) when I was a wee lass, and Games Workshop still published thick yearly catalogues that I and my brothers would read like the Bible, that miniature really stuck with me. He does look a bit goofy in today's standards, but maybe I should pick one up for nostalgia's sake. Definitely agree on him being an awesome candidate for a glow-up!

This would be an ideal candidate for a new sculpt in plastic, retaining the existing style. After all, it's still for sale and thus appears in the army book

I've been thinking about it : the new Cities of Sigmar look were reminding me of something, but I couldn't put my finger on it. I just found out : they remind me of Berserk artworks !
As I love Berserk and AoS, this is a match made in heaven for me !

Seriously go read Berserk if you haven't already, it's a masterpiece. But I digress.

I'm now genuinly hyped for the rest of the range to be revealed. Come on GW !

No way was 'Warhammer forum making me finally read Berserk' on my 2023 bingo card but here we are.

  12. Not me wishing for Idoneth or Lumineth rumours so that @HollowHills and @Maogrim respectively would return. They might be stinkin' knife-ears, but they're OUR stinkin' knife-ears! Not even a full Duardin range can be as joyous as jokingly bickering with aelf fans...

That is the true tragedy of Duardin. We need aelves to grudge with to be complete 😢

you beat me to it: Dawnbringer Crusade rules make the most sense in their own supplement book if Cities tome is going to have ELEVEN subfactions.

that would also mean DBC rules are easily fit into a narrative supplement so non-Order has a reason to buy it; either for some of their own rules, the story moving forward, or both.

If a lot of non-humans are squatted, do we even know if we'll have all those cities as subfactions? What if they, Sigmar forbid, simply use them as different colour schemes?

Any rumors I share from them I try to leave their name out of it. They do a great job of keeping us informed but the last thing I want is a bunch of people pestering them, I'm sure we're bad enough as it is.

I also don't know where Whitefang gets their info and the more prevalent their name the more likely they might get cut off from their source?

As far as I know I don't think their doing it for internet fame or would have said so? I'm assuming a lot but trying to err on the side of caution. If I'm getting anything wrong please let me know.

No, you're correct - I'm very happy for their (or perhaps TGAs?) relative obscurity, lest the bleached fang gets taken out by GW's Vindicare Assassins...

I'm simply surprised as I'm an avid follower of videogame leaks and rumours, and often see messages from boards very much like TGA (I assume they're built on same platform, as even reactions are identical to ours) getting posted to reddit - the mere whiff of rumour being shared for those who want to be 'in the know'. Of course, many of such rumourmongers also strive for e-fame...

Honestly at this point I'm surprised I don't see them mentioned elsewhere. You'd think sites like Reddit or DakkaDakka (don't they have an AoS section too?) would crosspost everything WF says, as afaik they haven't missed once.

I agree some communication is needed here to avoid what happened last time when big chunks of units were shelved.

Well, it is GW we're talking about...some days it feels like they make decisions by throwing dice. Get a double 6 and Chorfs will be confirmed!

I was kinda surprised that the Sunblood and Eternity Warden didn't get new minis, but (assuming they survive to the new book and don't get dropped) they're almost guaranteed to be the obligatory single foot-hero release for the next time Seraphon get a Battletome.

After sleeping on it, I'm still unimpressed with the Dawnbringer armour design, but I've completely come around to how weird the faces look. Imagine you're some elite Chaos Warrior who's plagued the realms of mankind for centuries, backed up by daemons from ****** beyond your comprehension and riding a flesh-eating horse that shoots lasers out of its eyes, and the blokes who rock up to challenge your domain all look like this21d02e5fa93e2c9d3fca4b8b36727c16.jpg.50169e20f9ad0eb1a36acaa1d36a9e64.jpg

I actually agree with everything else you're saying, but this reads like digital haruspicy or non-ironic version of my #PUDanon chorf copeposting - unless I've missed the Whitefang-English dictionary guide. I mean, he IS our oracle but sometimes a pipe is a pipe.
