  1. Freeguild Handgunners got a really nice up!
They got a natural +1 to hit, only require a 10+ unit to gain +1 hit again and more importantly :

"Crack Shot: Tales are told of battles won
    with a single, well-paced shot from a
    long rifle.
Enemy Heroes do not benefit from the
Look Out, Sir! rule for attacks made with a
    Long Rifle."

It's a really oppressive playstyle, and I feel bad when I roll over people that aren't prepared for it. I believe the only thing keeping it from dominating the entire meta is that it has a very low tolerance for misplays, and most people aren't skilled enough to pilot it to the 99%+ flawless play it requires.

I've traveled far back as page 180 to read about what you guys wrote thos past few months, and although I found quite a lot of good informations (made myself a memo with the links to those good comments/Explanations) I've yet to read the Ultimate Anvil Strike Guide, for you know, just what you said in your previous comment aka pilot it flawlessly :)

Would be nice to have a kind of "sticky".

  3. @Lucur You roll to cast. It's cast. It's not unbound. Now :

    - if you sustained wounds you roll to heal D3 wounds

    or

    - if all your remaining models are full life : you roll to resurrect models worth D3 wounds.

I don't think you can resurrect a dracoline if you don't roll 5 or 6 on the D3. I think Lifeswarm is great in Ghyran, or if not in Ghyran, on models with one wound > Phoenix temple for ex.

Another advantage of CoS is access to cheap battleline. I'm really curious how they intend to balance that out. Outside of Anvilstrike most people would love to lose their Stormhosts for access to most Order units...

I'll gladly take either Eternal guards or Phoenix Temple battleline over Liberators any day.

That will be insane :D , I already tested the 4 B + LO + Lum combo once and it was nasty , you think the re-roll 1s will also count for the B? That combo could completely shut down half of the board.

Better than Greywater : 4 High elf balistas, 2 Seawardens, LO + Hurricanum. That's insane because you don't have to rely on the unreliable SCE balista :) ! That's 48 shots at 36", hits 2+, auto-wound (2 Seawardens), rend -1, D1.

So Greywater Fastness allows you to take an extra Artillery piece and give all artillery extra range. 5 Ballistas + Ordinator + Hurricanum is expensive but extremely hilarious and should pepper most things off the board with little to no issue. Can't wait to see the rest of the book :P

Where did you find that info ?

  6. Joke aside, neither my opponent or me are very competitive players.

    A few remarks though :

    - Instead of taking two units of Aetherwings, I took 1 unit of Javelin Prosecutors. The aetherwings would have been better at screening my deepfield against DP paladins. But he failed his first charge, made it the second time, but he conceded a bit later.

    - It's interesting the psychological effect that 4 fulminators had on him. Although I told him how strong they were going to be agaisnt shots, he still fired upon with is 2 balistas. As expected, not a single damage taken.

    - It's hard playing in a noisy environment, how you guys manage to keep focused in a tournament in a crowded arena is an impressive fact. I forgot a lot of aditionnal rules (wound or hit reroll given by the Triumph table for ex).

    Anyway, see ya!

  7. So, here's what I'm going to play in tomorrow for Scorched earth 2019, againt my SCE friend :

Allegiance: Stormcast Eternals - Mortal Realm: Aqshy

    Celestant-Prime (340)

    Lord-Castellant (120)
    - General - Command Trait : Staunch Defender - Artefact : Thermalrider Cloak
    Knight-Azyros (100)

    4 x Fulminators (480)
    5 x Liberators (100)
    5 x Liberators (100)
    3 x Prosecutors with Stormcall Javelins (90)
    10 x Phoenix Guard (140)

TOTAL: 1470/1500 EXTRA COMMAND POINTS: 0 WOUNDS: 75
    LEADERS: 3/4 BATTLELINES: 2 (2+) BEHEMOTHS: 0/2 ARTILLERY: 0/2
    ARTEFACTS: 1/1 ALLIES: 140/200

I'll put the fulminators on my deployment line, in cover with Castellant. Staunch, cover+ their innate save will make them very resilient to the balista attack (I hope he's going to target them!). On the other side, still in cover, I'll put the 10 Phoenix Guards.
At maximum range possible from the balistas, I'll put the on one side the 5 man libs squad and the otter one on the other objective.
I'll let my opponent take first turn, so I'll know where the balistas are, I'll shoot them with the dracoths, then charge them I hope, if they fail their charge, well at least, they will have lantern+ innate save and staunch (maybe he'll shoot my castellant then).
Prosecutors should be around to help with shooting or i'll deepstrike them to harass in case he didn't make a good screening job.
I hope I can keep the Prime in heavens for at least 1 turn so he'll be 5 attacks when he comes down.
It's not hyper competitive, but I hope it will be fun to play!
About the gryph hound, is there a good way to place him so I can make use of his countercharge shot ability ? Do you guys see some major flaws ?

    Cheers!

I got one ill be running at an event in two weeks, that I'm quite excited for haha.

    Anvils:

Incantor - Lighting Blast - General
    Relictor - Translocation

    3x5 Libs

    Gotrek
    1x3 Rapid Fire Raptors
    1x9 Long Shot Raptors
    4x3 Birds

    Dias Arcanum
    Extra Command Point.

How do you plan on throwing Gotrek forward ? He's as slow as protectors

  9. Although I have to add, Aetherwings lose when they're not played with raptors, but their 12inch move won me several games!
By the way, tomorrow I'll play the Scorched earth scenario, any last minute advice guys ? :)
    My opponent will certainly field 3x5man sequitors, 1 5 man Evo+ 1x5paladins, LO+2balistas a base line.

You need 3 battleline for 1500pt games.

Aetherwings aren't worth using if you don't have the Raptors to move them in the enemy charge phase.

I don't think the LCOS is carrying his weight here. They don't do enough damage to justify their point cost and they die too easily for a 560pt model. You also have no wizards to benefit from the fantastic +1 to casting buff.

Heraldor is actually not optimal for Dracoths since you want to use their breath attack every single turn. If you want a cavalry unit that can run & charge you should use Dracolines instead of Dracoths. Dracolines are very effective with the Celestial Vindicators stormhost!

Thanks for your reply @PJetski. Where I'm playing we play around 1250/1500, we start from 1000 on Warscroll builder then add the remaining point limit. Thus I can play with just two battlelines. I think I'll play my "just bought painted and second hand" Celestant prime instead of the LCoSD. I'll play the heavy artillery Prime, using him for his comet ability. I'm not set on what Stormhost using yet.
