    There’s not really. There are minor details that hint at the clans (a hood, a crest and some pustules), all of which were present in the previous kit.

    i wouldn't really consider "pustules over most of the exposed skin" to be a minor detail though? and if these were present in the previous kit, then it's even more of a reason to believe these details are signaling a mishmash of clans at the bottom rung of skaven soldiers?

    i'm confused as to how others don't see this tbh, I know it's only 2 models so far but... if the pustule guy had a bell flail instead of a shield and the black mask guy had a sling instead of a shield everyone would be saying they look perfect for Pestilens acolytes/Eshin runners

    Huh?

    there are huge notes of pestilens, Eshin, and Verminous(?)/the martial clan on the designs?

    which means you have the opportunity to mix and match to make clan-specific units it seems

    I noticed two prices decreased recently on the Aos Armyboxes and now this battleforces dropping 10€.

    S2D -> 155€
    Seraphon -> 170€
    CoS -> 155€
    FEC -> 155€

    when you say army boxes do you mean the FOMO releases? If they're calling the new ork box a battleforce it's interesting it's coming  before Christmas! hopefully more discount boxes in the future then

    Thinking about AoSification, I think there's one thing that we've missed. The fact that the clan now seems to be composed of the classic clan rats, Eshin and Pestilens. This one could be easily one from Pestilens and the other one from Eshin.

    yes, these new Clanrats are very explicitly made up of a bunch of (major) clans. which is my favorite detail about them!!

    Maybe the Lord-Vigilant watches over the others in the Ruination chamber in case their flaws start getting out of hand?

    i knew there'd be at least one unit doing this :) my guess that the new 3-elite unit from the trailer is the most stable of Ruination is probably close to the mark too then

    It's not really the other way around, it's both. It removes any limitations of how you build your models but limits customising the units load-out and their purpose in your army list e.g. taking shields for defence, taking paired hammers for offence, putting special weapons on the champion because it'll have more attacks with it. It removes all of that side of the game. Personally I modelled my models to match the unit profile I wanted them to have.

    I don't think it's a good thing really and kind of flies in the face of 'unit profiles are designed around the way the models looks on the tabletop' since neither the shield or the extra hammer do anything different, they've got the same save and same offensive profile regardless. Why even bother wasting the space on the sprue for the paired hammers.

    it is both, but another big pro is that you don't have to keep buying more of the same unit to have every weapon loadout so you can keep up with whatever meta is current. this is a way to get more casual people into trying out the competitive side.

    i think there's no good answer to make both parties happy here, and i find myself agreeing with GW picking the modeling/creative freedom side over the weapon rules side. i have literally procrastinated building whole kits because i could not choose which weapon profile to give them ("magnetize them" is not a good answer for this either).

    will i miss more customization options for lists? sure i will 100%, but i won't miss it as much as feeling free to build a kit however i think looks best.

    I find flavour, immersion more important than balance. This is to simplified for me and I am saying this while I am more a hobbyist than a player. Absurd direction.

    the warscroll still retains flavor in a different way: the shields keep your save at a 3+ and the dual hammers is where the crit mortals comes from. invert it and you get dual wielders who have superhuman parrying and shieldbearers with lightning-charged bashes (directly from the Vindictors' reasoning for having crit mortals in 3e).

    ALL of that flavor with the same statline as Vindictors, so you can choose based on the unit's traits/abilities rather than weapon profile. Now i'm free to model build AND list build how i want My Army to look on the field.

    So with Celestar Ballista gone is Stormcast going to get a new artillery?

    *hits the waterpipe of hopium* what if the new COS artillery can count as regulars in Stormkeep armies, not auxiliaries? surely the Cogfort will have other Ironweld friends coming with it yes-yes...

    When I spoke to my local they said it was fine to build and paint stuff I already had at home in my pile of shame/opportunity. I just had to bring in them or photos of them to prove I'd built and painted them. The only thing required to do instore was to play the games there (mine is just doing 600 point Path to Glory ones) but the staff said if no other players were available when I was they'd play against me.

    We will get used to this new terminology I guess.

    yes, it's good to keep in mind that if rules feel too "different" to you it's likely because most of us grew up with the hit/wound/strength/toughness roll tables. in comparison, learning different colors and a few icons will go quickly.

    @Ejecutor the campaign is pretty simple: you're given a card with a collection of tasks that earn you up to 18 points. It's basic stuff, build a unit, paint a unit, play a game, introduce a friend (you can get six by building a vanguard box). At the end of the event the manager collects the cards and determines whether or not the local players built or destroyed the city.

    can we do this at home like Ejecutor asked and also, is it only things bought DURING the event or can it be any kit? like I just bought a new Seraphon Salamander (at an actual GW store), surely that should count if the event is soon?

    Yep, buying and painting new thunderstrike models will solve the issue.

    i mean sure, not really a solution but if you want the new Ruination stuff you'll end up with new liberators yes?

    i'm not saying this isn't frustrating but out of everything getting cut having to proxy your older Liberator prime seems trivial compared to Sacrosanct, especially when it seems that more people have the ETB liberators than the multipart ones.

    when I was getting into the hobby one of the big tips for SCE was to buy the first Underworlds warband to get a grandhammer for liberators and pick up cheap secondhand starter halves instead of paying full price for the multipart.

    Not impossible, but pretty awkward and annoying. Most players will have a nice champion model with a plume, special pauldron, and a grandhammer, since that was optimal and legal in the past. Now that is illegal, so you always have to explain to the opponent that the dude who looks like the champion is actually not - instead it is one of the ordinary looking ones.

    well if you happened to get the multipart kit, you could either snip off the prime's plume or use one of the new thunderstrike primes right? or any other prime with a shield you may have.

    Oh, do you have a link? The way the article was written really suggested to me that the rules for sacrosanct were fully being retired and that refreshes would be for some of the non-sacrosanct units. That's great news if the rules are staying because I know a lot of folks, myself included, think sacrosanct is the best.

    it's somewhere in the rumor thread and on reddit, unfortunately can't find it again due to how many people are posting !

    i'll preface this by saying it absolutely is anti-consumer and scummy, but there's no way GW aren't replacing Sacrosanct with Thunderstrike versions. the wizard-paladin aesthetic is one of the best in AOS period. if og Sacrosanct are legal until 2025 then I really think we can expect some replacements during 4e with a full refresh by 5e.

    Vanguard chamber is the weakest Stormcast aesthetic. some of them might get refreshed, like Raptors, but i could see Vanguard being the only SCE stuff that doesn't see a proper redo.

    The Liberator warscroll really adds insult to injury for SCE players. In theory, you can use your old models. In practice, the warscroll makes it impossible.

    The warscroll specifically prohibits the unit champions from carrying Grandhammers. This was both legal and optimal in the previous editions, so every SCE player has modelled their Liberators in a way that is now illegal.

    i don't think it makes it impossible, and especially when most liberators i've ever seen are the starter box that gave no grandhammer. you could also easily mark another liberator as the leader, since it makes perfect sense for special weapons carriers to be marked as well.

    it will feel psychologically like you're the one who killed your own model.

    i mean... this is Nagash's whole thing. it's why he wants to be the only god of Death. it may subjectively be a rule you dislike, but it is 110% flavor for bone daddy. you could always ask for best out of 3 too ;)

    8. Even though I'm colour blind, I like the presentation. It's super easy to find the spell and the rampage on the warscroll.

    extremely glad to hear this as it was a big fear of mine that GW would not consider colorblindness when coloring everything. hopefully the charge and hero phases remain relatively separated

    for example if the sequitors are redone they would be able to play with their old minis even in matched play (using the warscroll of the redone miniature of course)

    it was always going to shake out like this TBQH. it is just a damn shame GW left it to an intern/community manager and didn't PUT IT IN THE SQUATTING ARTICLE.

    CSM got 40k Beastmen, maybe STD will get a unit of Gors next edition.

    Looks like they want clearly clear cut armies for Chaos : Undivided, big 4, Skaven, Chorfs and I feel like they must’ve felt like BOC was “stepping ” on STD turf because they’re both undivided armies. But that opens the way for maybe undivided Beastmen in STD just like there is god marked Beastmen for Slaanesh and Tzeentch.

    "Slaves to Darkness" is so broad an army title, if Darkoath are fitting right underneath it then it stands to reason that refreshed BoC come under S2D as well.

    edit: would love to see Beastmen separated from Chaos to become a primal force of animalistic destruction 😍

    However, it's taken AoS way, way too long to "find its feet" and decide what it wants to keep.

    yeah it feels like there's been a LOT of upper management meddling... the fact that AOS has no solid video games in 10 years apart from Realms of Ruin (which is still shaky) reeks of meddling for profit over any kind of substance. that clearly bleeds into the miniatures games as well.

    we also know 1e took a bit of fighting on the creatives' side to get Stormcast to become more than the "fantasy marines" that management wanted. (that post might even be on TGA?)

    i could see one more purge after this but come on. just tell us what WILL get refreshed and what isn't planned. even if the release is in 5 years.

    Wait so with a certain SCE character killed off in Dawnbringers 4 and their model now removed...are they gone completely? Or being reforged as new mini?

    the more i think about it, the more i feel like this is guaranteed tbh

    This is basically what they did for 40K with Primaris.

    well this happened a few more times with marines, especially in the beginning editions like 3-5

    people loved "beakies" coming back in 30k for a reason, for example. i think the jump from beak helmets to the rounder ones is a similar situation here--that the old models will essentially be useable for the entire life of AOS but newer versions will come out.

    thank you, feels like it's been complaining about warcry-band bloat and stormcast bloat and now that they're refreshing things (in an army with incredibly easy proxy potential) the sky is falling.  GW has reasons for doing these things, as stupid as it is that BoC and BS are leaving.

    while i'm sad to see so many stormcast squatted, it is a strange day indeed when the biggest community joke is "stormcast range is so bloated i don't bother learning any names lol!!!" and now the general playerbase is angry they've been culled. Not unwelcome anger for sure, but major whiplash

    It feels like the theme just doesn't fit with the Total War gameplay.

    it doesn't at all and i'll die on that hill. you either make the 40k game feel too small by putting it on 1 planet, or it's got cobbled together systems to accommodate for space warfare & feels like 3 separate but mediocre games.

    doing 40k makes no sense when AOS would fit into TW like a glove.
