    I've been looking at something similar @Gibs I've also been looking at the buff Khorne list idea mentioned earlier in this thread. Going to playtest them moving forward under both ravagers banner and host of everchosen.

    I also think that a cavalry centric army might also have some legs with or without Archaon I am not sure yet.

    I feel like having Archaon is a must but maybe the ability to have more cavalry/units might be stronger. 

    Either way I am not committing to any list for definite yet as we have an FAQ coming and what looks good on paper and what's good on the table top are two different things 😂😂

    However, the new warrior sprue has 17 heads on it when you factor in all of the bare head variants. Swapping in one of the new heads onto an old body seems to help tie them fit in among the new sculpts.

    I have my book and it's as awesome lore wise etc and I had hoped for.

    Ignore the negativity from some users I think STD will be a solid adaptable choice in the upcoming meta. 

    I would agree with @Sinfullyvannila and say while the new model is nice I would want to maximise my cavalry units from a look at the book.

    Maybe run a chaos lord on foot and a chaos sorcerer and have the DP as general spread your threats etc. 1000 points from my experience is about board presence, if you run an elite army you need a crippling hammer from people running swaves of units. 

  4. For me I am very excited while we might not be broken I have looked through the warscrolls and the minor improvements and for me this gives me plenty of options that won't feel like I'm self handicapping myself. 

    If the battalions are varied and flavourful I think this is going to be on par with the Gloomspite, Ogors books and that's great!! 

    I have pre-ordered the books and cards as I have 4000 points of chaos already built. Though I say this the new sculpts and cultists I am sure will tempt me if not the magic cat of doom and the crusher! 

    Exciting times hitting the tables next year with slaves and big man.

    Anyone else notice Archaon is missing a command ability on the App. 'By my Will' is missing anyone know what it is?

  5. As a huge lover of the StD range and chaos in general if they can get a book close to Gloomspite Gitz with everything at an ok playable level with a few good combos I am going to even more happy than knowing 40 CMs that I haven't finished are still very usable in the ravagers allegiance.

    It's starting to look alit like Christmas..... 😝😂😝 Can you tell I'm hyped.!

  6. So this is amazing news Ravagers and an Archaon, or maybe Archaon my Varanguard and some knights.....all marked differently or all marked the same. 

    I am a very happy customer right now, nothing better than a book that sounds stuffed with options for all my units. Here's hoping this is Gloomspite/Cities esk tome and not one subfaction to rule them all!

    Oh I agree they need an update just an update I can still use the old models while I transition. 

    Getting the dread axe means that they are dodgy lookalikes 😄 the untamed beasts is a great shout though @Charleston I am sure I have some fenrisian wolves laying about somewhere!

    A thing I tought about, ist that maybe GW will restructure Battlelines for StD. I belive all Cultist-Units will be unconditional Chaos Battlelines. Meanwhile I also belive that Knights and Chariots will either loose Battleline-Status, or may become conditional Battleline, beeing tied to a certain Warlord. I couldn´t imagine GW to change Warriors, therefore I am quite trustworthy that they will remain unconditional battlelines, too.

    I also like the fact that GW mentions damned legions in the video, which means some "tribes"-rules as other factions get.

    Havin Chosen to stay around is something I´d rather not expected, but actually I am fine with it. This opens up some small odds for a plastic kit at a later point.

    Edit: My Bets on Units:

    Heroes:

    • Archaon -> Profile reworked, will get some new focus in the Lore again
    • Lord of Chaos -> confirmed to stay and new profile with flail and the new CA is already known. Great thing
    • Lord of Chaos on Manticore ->I would bet on a manticore upgrade, paired with a new CA
    • Lord of Chaos on daemonic Mount ->I belive this one will be gone and replaced by the new one
    • Lord of Chaos on Karkadrak ->Announced to come and to have some charge sheningans
    • Sorcerer Lord -> Will stay as our main Wizzard and also a valid plastic kit. Finaly having our own Spell Lore makes them great. I hope their custom spell remains, althrough I am not sure for the Foresight-Reroll-Rule.
    • Sorcerer Lord on Manticore  ->Also Upgrades to Mount here.
      • In general I belive we will get a tribe with a wizzard focus so we can upgrade our Sorcerer to T2
    • Sorcerer Lord on Horse -> Will most propably be cut as there is no sculpt yet. May also get a new Sculpts which can be assembled into a Lord on daemonic Mount, which is rather less likely.
    • Darkoath Warqueen ->I could imagine some minor buff
    • Darkoath Warchief ->Really requires some rework as the whole "Heroslayer" concept doesn´t work out great
    • Gaunt Summoner -> I highly belive he will be included as T2 wizzard with his own Spell Lore. Summoning will be propably cut away.
    • Daemon Prince -> I see him to get some new Ability. Maybe the old Battalion of 4 DP´s will have a comeback.
    • Exalted Hero of Chaos -> My bet is that he will disappear in silence.

    Battlelines:

    • Knights -> I expect some buffs. Aligning the Charge Bonus to -2 Rend and 2 Damage as in CoS is quite possible. I hope they keep their Shield against MW´s. May become a conditional battleline, tied to the new hero. May stay unchanged.
    • Warriors -> I see the Halberd and Greatblade go, having two Handweapons beeing changed somehow. I hope shields stay awesome. Will for sure stay unconditional battlelines.
    • Chariots -> I belive if Knights change to conditional Battlelines, Chariots will do so, too. Maybe they will give some minor upgrade to Chariots, althrough the Unit is actually fine.
    • Gorebeast Chariots -> Here I could imagine GW to attempt some changes. A streamline of the charge ability is possible. I belive they are at risk of loosing battleline status.
    • Corvus Cabal -> May get some minor buff to make them on pair with the other tribes. Either unconditional Battleline, or Battleline with Darkoath Warlord.
    • Unmade -> May stay the way they are. Either unconditional Battleline, or Battleline with Darkoath Warlord.
    • Untamed Beasts -> Will propably stay the same. A better meele Profile for the beast would´ve been awesome. Either unconditional Battleline, or Battleline with Darkoath Warlord.
    • Iron Golem ->I also do not see much changes here, maybe the Ogor to punch with a new profile. Either unconditional Battleline, or Battleline with Darkoath Warlord.
    • Cypher Lords -> Rather unchanged. Either unconditional Battleline, or Battleline with Darkoath Warlord.
    • Splintered Fang -> Are actually a quite a badass unit right now so I rather do not see changes here. Maybe heal 1 serpent for each single serpent caller in the unit, but thats it. Either unconditional Battleline, or Battleline with Darkoath Warlord.
    • Spire Tyrants ->Either unconditional Battleline, or Battleline with Darkoath Warlord. Profile still has to be revealed
    • Flame Cabal Thingy -> Maybe we will get them revealed this weekend as I really hope that the Tome will have all new Warscrolls inside.
    • Varanguard -> Propably stay Battleline with Archaon as General. I see some major rework to the profile incoming.
    • Marauders -> See them axed and replaced by cultists
    • Marauders on Horses -> The weird one, as I actually see GW to keep them around.
    • Belakor -> Propably will be stomped ito beeing a DP kit only, having the Warscroll beeing dropped from the App and Store. A big comeback, as awesome as it would be, seems rather unlikely. Althrough he IS the only named Character Chaos offers beside of Archaon right now.
    • Slambo -> I see a cut here.

    Units:

    • Chosen -> Are indirectly confirmed to stay around. I could see them to have some changes to their Aura and price.
    • Chaos Warshrine -> Out only Priest will have a good time I belive. The custom Prayer may be upgraded and I belive there will be quite a lot of prayers to choose from. Either 6 unaligned or maybe even 1-3 per god. Maybe a buff to the meele capability
    • Chaotic Beasts (Furies and Raptoryx)-> Will be included but I rather don´t belive them to get any love. Furies are quite usefull for the objective game right now but Raptoryx have to compete against Corvus Cabal for the spot of cheap chaff.
    • Chaos Warhounds -> May be included. Would be rather a suprise as they are well placed within BoC.

    Monsters:

    • Slaughterbrutes ->Will be included. I wish they would rework the Profile for them. At least the Mortal Wound rule as it is requires a rework as it is badly worded. I belive they may get an additional Mark of Khorne now if desired.
    • Mutalith Vortex Beasts->Same as Slaughterbrutes. May have a rework and will get the option to get the Tzeentch Keyword.
    • Chimera ->May be included as through Warcry. I do not see a rework of the Warscroll as likely here.
    • Jabberslythe ->I belive we won´t get them.
    • Soul Grinder -> The big unknown one. I wouldn´t wonder if GW cuts them from AoS, althrough I also really can imagine them to add the Soul Grinder into the army and to keep it to pick one of the Marks of Chaos. Althrough I rather doubt a rework of the scroll beside the claw ability, which is one of the last "silly" AoS 0.1 Rules leftover as Nagashs Grip was.
    • Chaos Gargants -> Possible. They are still listed to exist under GA Chaos in the Shop and I would wonder why GW would keep them there if there is no tome to use them. The kit is around so free cashgrab for gw and a nice unit for us players.
    • Coackatrice -> Hopefully stays a BoC Unit~ I dislike the Kit and see no overlap here
    • Catshpinx-> Will come, hopefully the Warscroll is in the Tome
    • Ogroid Brute Thing ->as Catsphinx
    • Formoid Crusher -> See the two above.

    Allies:
    My bets go on Khorne, Nurgle, Tzeentch and Slaanesh, as also Beasts of Chaos. Skaven is the only thing that seems weird as they do not follow directly the Pantheon of the Chaos Gods.

     

     

    I don't mind any of this minus the squatting of my 40 mauraders....pretty please with sugar on top GW make them garbage but don't get rid of them 😂😂 

    Trying to convince them they are any of the warcry guys I might struggle....is there an Age of Conan warcry warband coming 👍🤞

  9. I read that statement about old models and was happy as I like the old models and the new ones. I also took this as my 40 Chaos Marauders aren't going to be taken away before I have even finished them 😂😂 also I might even snap their heads off and put the new spare ones on some!

  10. My wallet is sooooo ready.

    I finished my 10 Chaos knights and warriors ages ago when we were the guys wishlisting and people were setting my expectations really low 😂😂

    Now it's time to get hyped!

    Also I noticed the wording of the warcry units as bloodspoil. So this is me being super hopeful that my 40 mauraders will not be squatted and still very usable. 

    I might splash out and get my first limited edition codex bundle with the ES. Just to support the goodness of should I say Chaos!

    Did you magnetise your GUO? If so, consider Rotigus instead of normal GUO if you are not taking the Spellportals, because he acts like an infinite range artillery - if his spell comes off. You could double up on that with Plague Squall on the Glott, but it's less reliable. Of course, it means your command traits and artefacts would have to on the LoB and/or Herald...

    Thanks for this so I haven't finished my GUO for this exact reason. So Rotigus would be better unless I was taking the spellportals interesting, I didn't know that. What weapon combos do you usually go on the GUO for the different builds?

    The mauraders were an idea but again I'm being patient as I know S2D is around the corner (I have 10 CK and 20 CW built and painted).

    I could always go plaguebearers or monks like the person posted a few pages back. 

    Anyone had any success with battalions outside of blight/plague cyst? 

  12. Good evening rotbringers and plague slingers. Been reading for a while and the army has reached 1k and I'm looking at the next steps to a semi comp list (play at a club with various skill levels and go to tournies).

    Loved the blades + Maurader combo highlighted here, so thinking of that and some of my favourite models.

    Big helper would be build for a GUO spell heavy or big and punchy?.

  13. What @Smooth criminal says is on point with the current top performing lists. They tend to run 3 BT in Tyrants and Minimum Gorepilrims and then mongers to buff (see the top performing list from B&G). 

    I run a 2 BT list (UF and Skar) and more mortals and while it is good it is definitely not broken and more of a mid tier list.

    Not run Skullmongers so I would lean on the more experienced players for that opinion.

    My new Khorne list will be double battalion mortals (Gorepilrims + bloodforged) and Skar. Gonna play test it and see what it's like next year.

    Your list has a lot of good models but little synergy.  Nurgle really needs to make use of synergies to have a chance in the current climate.  And as much as I wish the maggoth riders were viable they just aren't.  Some of my favorite models though 😕  To try and keep your list as intact as possible while optimizing it I'd drop the plaguebearers, orghotts and Lord of Blights then add 15 more blightkings and a warshrine.  The warshrine ups the percentage of wounds your models ignore from 33% to 44%.   Then I might do balewind vortext.  Anyway that's my two cents and a lot of that info is from reading this forum 🙂

    So apologies if I am showing any ignorance but you mention synergies. 

    Now Nurgle aren't killy at all by this forums admission, results and reading warscrolls.

    So what should I leverage synergy wise that I am missing DR? With Glotkin I though putting everything on a big blob and holding centre board would be a good idea?

    Again I totally understand the reasons to take BK -1 rend batallion or ally in Skaven blobs just wondering if their is any off meta choices experienced players have been thinking up.

    I just attended B&G and I saw a few lists that did alright and were 100% not on meta.

    Haha that is alot of models. Seems funny though. I saw the Nurgle +Plaguemonks post on the previous page but not a huge fan of the idea of painting 80 rats on top of the 80 mauraders like you have, especially with the maurader models looking like Conan or the 90s show Hercules 🤣🤣

    I was thinking of something like below but maybe I'm an optimist because I know from a few pages back Nurgle are in a tough spot and most run blight cyst or thricefold just seeing if there are any maniac lists I could jam!

  17. Hello fellow rotbringers, I have been given a Glotkin as a present and have a urge to build a fun and crazy list around him after finishing my Khorne project.

    Do not care about super competitiveness as I will be the pilot!! Just want a list to have some synergy or cool little trick I can pull off.

    Something wild and out there I can build and win a couple of games at a big event if I'm lucky 🤟🤟😜 I'm sure you guys won't disappoint.

  18. Yeah I would like the save upgrade! I have 10 CK so that would make a big help.

    Also would like to see the manticore have rend!!! The amount of times I chomp on someone and they go 'so 4 attacks what's the rend?' and I go 'oh he doesn't have any teeth it's all gums....no rend' 😂🤣

    Then finally would be some unmarked loveliness or something for running them with Archaon as this is my biggest want. Just a middle of the road Archaon battalion that I can run Varanguard, maybe a Chaos champ, CWs and CK in a mortal managerie of loveliness

    I like first list more because Rage thirster in this configuration is very strong.

    Swapping knights+cp for blightlords can be a consideration. Swapping heal priest+5 warriors for 10 chaos warriors can be a consideration. I don't think any of this affects list in a meaningful way though.

    Thanks Smooth your observations are right the changes would be minor but I wanted to check as I value the dudes in this threads opinion.

    I really wanted to go mortal heavy but I've run out of money and time with work to get skullreapers/wrathmongers, more reaver's etc done in time.

    I used him recently in a tournament while his extended pile in caught some people off guard he really was lacklustre with the same setup (hew, sword of judgement, Lance) I'll run him with friends still so hopefully he will do better for you love the model.

    @Zamik is correct. There is still a benefit to taking this weapon though,  such as if you fight something that gives -1 to hit, then you would still be hitting on 2+, the artifacts would also make for easier activations  for abilities that trigger on a 6+ (though those are becoming rarer).

    Yeah I am debating the realm artefacts and I am trying to pick between them. Thanks for the info though.

    This is what I'm going to take at B&G.

    Running screened Skar, mortals in MSU blocks, shrine+brazen+killing frenzy in GP, with dog summons. This hopefully will make a durable objective fighting army with a bit of monster smashing punch.

    Now I wouldn't get your hopes up because while the plane might look impressive the pilot just got his licence if you catch my drift 😆

    Mauraders having been getting a bit of a spotlight recently. Nurgle been running them, Khorne and a American GT was won with 40 as a order mercenary group. 

  24. Mini report from 1 day shop event. 14 players.

    Went 1 and 2 with what I had built as other Khorne models didn't arrive in time. Winner of the tournament was a shootcast list beating out a daemons of Khorne list in second.

    As you can see this is no way competitive but I didn't know the club that well so had no idea the level of lists.

    Turns out pretty on par with the meta. Skaven, Ironjawz, Khorne, Fec, Cities of Sigmar, Sylvaneth + Gotrek, Shootcast.

    Game 1 - played FEC Blisterskin on Duality, 2 GKoTG, 1 Arkhan, AAR, Ghoul patrol (50 with summons) and 6 summoned flayers. He was a GT heat 3 player and it showed.

    He made me go first and I just tried to screen Skarbrand for Turn 2 going first. He soon dealt with the screens with the highlight being curse of years clearing all 10 Knights in a blink of an eye. 

    With Skarbrand exposed through a slight gap the roll for double turn went his way and that's all she wrote two GKoTG chomped through that side and accumulation of obj and a lack of counter punch and GG. Major loss.

    Game 2 - played versus a Stardrake centred Stormcast list with 20 sequitor blob 10 shooter Bois and some Dracoths. Was shifting objectives and I managed to get the choice and went second. Much much closer Skarbrand went mental and killed his Stardrake with a 16 wound wonder punch. Lost because objective rolled under the sequitors 2 turns in a row and this was opposite side to my Skar by the end of turn 4 I could draw before time but failed my charge roll twice on Skar and me and the stormcast laughed and it's was done. 14-11 but with victory points worked out as major loss again.

    Game 3 - FEC Hallowmourne list with double battalion. Much fluffier FEC list on Focal Points. Skar went off big time killed over half his army after chomping through his Horror and ZD flank and I snowballed objectives to major win.

    Overall the Khorne elements were great. The warriors were a sturdy backfield objective holder, but the 500+ points in the general, DP and knights were well a let down 😆😆

    No surprises really and I hope with the improvements discussed earlier in the thread my next list will be a bit more competitive.

    Came joint first for best sportsmanship award so we rolled off lowest roll wins 😂😂 I rolled good for once!

    Finished 9th overall.
