  1. A while back I bought 10 night runners, still on the sprue, from a popular auction site. I'm guessing the seller only wanted half of the box. Anyway, I've been using them alternately as a single unit of night runners or 2 units of gutter runners. I have to say that I've been impressed by both units for their points value. So much so that I've bought another box of 20. Now I'm wondering how I can make them distinct so that they aren't confused with each other on the battlefield. What are your thoughts? What do other people do? I can build them with different weapon loadouts, but the colour scheme is fairly strict i.e. black 😁
  2. True true, so it pays to make sure your frenemy explains all his abilities before the game. And I thought coherency triggered after a turn(15.2) , so it would be after the battle shock phase.
  3. Yes, the lack of a horde bonus still hurts, but we aren’t really affected by the new coherency rules. Because of GW’s rules being in inches but bases having to be sold in mm, our 25mm bases mean that even stringing Clanrats out in single file means that there are 2 models within 1”. The one and only time I’ve had to think about coherency is with a unit of 6 rat ogres when I played pure moulder. But I love that list though. I might even steal that 🤣
  4. I think the point here is that the WFT and Deathmasters don’t count as drops and therefore don’t have to be in the battalion. You are correct though, it’s not a single drop army. The battle regiment allows 3 leaders and 5 troops which would be the grey seers and clawlord, and the 3 battleline and the 2 grinders. The deathmasters and WFT are hidden inside those battlelines. The 6 giant rats would not fit.
  5. It's true that clanrats are not going to deal any significant damage but they can play an important role that makes them more than just a carrier. Drop your WG in the centre of the battlefield turn one, 9" away from your enemies lines and you chain your 20 rats out in a single line of around 20" This makes them a great speed bump and give your back lines (jezzail, fiends) an extra turn for shooting. And a buffed and overcharged ratling gun with re-rolling hits and +1 damage would be doing an average of 7 wounds against a 4+ enemy. Two of them could take down a unit worth more than the combined cost of 2 RG and 1 WG Good luck getting that 9" charge off consistently, even re-rolling that's a 48% chance. If you take cogs that could go up to 66% chance of an 8" charge but that's a big gamble. And don't expect your deathmasters to do very much. They desperately need a new warscroll IMHO
  6. My plan is to run it with 20 clanrats hiding 2 Ratling guns. With an Arch Warlock general with overseer of destruction placed on the edge of the deployment zone it is possible to get him within 12" to give +1 damage and re-rolls hits to both in turn 1. If you were feeling crazy, you could extend this to 60 clanrats hiding 3 Ratling guns and 3 WFT 😂😂
  7. Maybe just a warlock engineer with a warpstone harpoon ?? 😂

  9. @Kaulder i'm guessing that warscroll builder has not been updated with the lastest points from the FAQ but the deathmaster is now 100 pts, and night runners are down to 75 pts for 10. Doesn't really make any difference to your list because it won't leave you enough points to buy anything else, but might guarantee you the triumph more often 😆 Edit: sorry, just re-read your post and noticed that you already know about the points drop 🙄
  10. Haha... i'm so guilty of this too. I hate to run the cheesy stormfiend lists but having not won a single game in 3.0 i took a unit of 6 fiends against my friends Stormcast this weekend and acheived a mighty victory for the rat-hordes. Best thing was, the SF weren't even my MVP's, they took alot of focus but my opponent underestimated my unit of 4 rat ogors who were absolute machines 🤣
  11. How and why are you doing the conversion? I’ve just ordered 2 ratling guns from my local store for only £9.50 each. Do people not like the metal sculpt?
  12. But with the Warbringer casting DDF (hopefully 3 times with a lucky D3 roll) on my 60 Clanrats who are re-rolling 1’s, and have an extra attack thanks to the clawlord, I’m hoping for death by a thousand cuts 😂
  13. Somewhat similar to a list I’ve been working on, but with more Verminlords and some rat ogors for a bit of punch. 14. In the new Battlescroll https://www.warhammer-community.com/2021/12/21/introducing-battlescroll-the-first-regular-rules-update-for-warhammer-age-of-sigmar/
  15. I saw some rumours that there's nothing for us in the FAQ . I hope that is not true
  16. @Riff_Raff_Rascal looks a fun list, but not legal for match play I think. Nurgle are only allies if the rest of your list is pure pestilence, right?
  17. Found it... 1.6.5 So if I let my opponent attack first, I can pile in and attack twice with any models killed, the remaining models can then pile in and attack as normal? Very skaveny, I like it 😁 Edit: I now realize that rule 1.6.5 applies to the unit rather than the model. 😭
  18. So I have a game tomorrow against Tzeentch and I'm crafting a new list. I'm thinking lots of rats, a Warbringer with Dreaded Death Frenzy and Thanquol with Death Frenzy. My theory is that 60 rats hitting and wounding on a 3+, rerolling 1's with double death frenzy is going to be hard to stop and will take a while to get below 30 models. But after reading the FAQ regarding double death frenzy it states that I can pile in and attack twice after death, but only if I haven't fought in that phase? Does anyone know the logic for that? Is there a limit on only attacking twice in a phase?
  19. It wouldn’t be any more absurd than KO having frigates as battleline in one of their sky ports. I’d like to see themed Skaven armies based on something like city rather than clan
  20. That was my other thought. I do have 2 WLC and 2 WFT so i could just go for mortal wound spam
  21. A couple of weeks ago i had a friendly game against SCE at 1k points. I know this isn't an ideal point bracket for Skaven and that the SCE tome is likely to be the new hotness for a while but i was surprised how easily i was defeated and how little i managed to kill. So i got to thinking about how i could defeat the heavily armoured elite troops such as the Annihilators. I really struggled with their 2+ saves. I dug out my trusty calculator and did some calculations: A single annihilator with 3 wounds and a 2+ save will need (on average) 18 wounds at 0 rend to kill (saving 15 of them) 18 wounds at 0 rend against a unit of toughened Rat Ogors with 6w and a 4+ save would do 9 damage and kill 1.5 models How best then should we deal with the meta trending towards 2+ saves and 5+ wards ? The answer i think is REND ! If we were to attack the same annihilators with -2 rend we would only need to do 6 damage to kill a single model Those same 6 damage at -2 rend against our toughened Rat Ogors would only do 5 damage and not even kill a single model Luckily we Skaven have multiple options to deliver high rend attacks. The Verminlord Deciever, Thanqoul (with braziers), Lord Skreetch (with the warp-tech knowledge), HellPit Abominations as well as ranged attacks from the Jezzails, Acolytes and Stormfiends I'm playing SCE again this week and i'm going to try and take as many high rend units as possible and see what difference that makes. What have other players been doing in this new meta, and do we have much hope of winning against such tanks??
  22. So.... the new Warhammer app is out in Beta today. At first glance it looks good. I can see all armies battletomes and traits/artefacts etc.. I'm assuming this is for the purposes of Beta testing only? The list building looks good but i tried to build my list for this Friday and it wouldn't let me assign artefacts other than universal ones to my Master Moulder. And if i made my MM a general he was allowed to take the Cunning command trait and others that should be restricted to other clans. I've logged my feedback with GW but wondered if anyone else had found any "funnies" yet ?
  23. I might try this actually... with the Master Moulder able to heal D3 wounds on the pack too that would be insane. Also the wording of this ability does not exclude 2 Master Moulders healing the same unit
