  1. In June, Fyreslayers had a representation of less than 2%. But for the past while they've hovered around a solid 3-4%. I think there's just this misconception that because they have the lowest aesthetic popularity rating (even people that play them hate that they all look the same), that nobody plays them. Plenty of people still love dwarfs but don't want to play their shooty steampunk cousins.
  2. Cool model. The flavor text and the rule for Fortified Position don't match up though. Unless gargants can suddenly fling their clubs across the battlefield.
  3. I swear...if they make a Cities Ogre unit and don't port it over to Mawtribes...there will be a grumbling. Maneaters are still f*** awful.
  4. These spells are kind of ridiculous. Game shiftingly powerful stuff. Lumineth, Tzeentch, Soulblight, and Seraphon are going to destroy the world this year.
  5. Call me an ol' Longbeard grumbler, but I hate that the return of the year-long GHB is all about MAGIC. Magic...ptooie
  6. The whole point of Old World is to attract the elderly grumblers who spout that the Fantasy days were better. Of course they're going to show all of the outdated, retched models that tap the old nostalgia bone. But real talk here, let's not pretend most of us aren't going to just play with AoS stuff. RIP to those factions that are on the "We don't have the time/energy to work on these" list. Ogres always suffering.
  7. Lord forbid they use any of their MASSIVE YEAR-ON-YEAR PROFITS to maintain reasonable costs. Greed be greeding again.
  8. It's so boring. Hag queen and witch elves again? Really? If they were going to do another DoK gang it should have been all Khinerai or warlocks or something remotely interesting.
  9. It's worth noting that both Dankholds' Crushing Grip is now at the end of the combat phase, which means they have to survive it, which sucks. But you can still squish vital unit leaders. I'd also point out that the Glowy Howzit is now AWESOME in my opinion. The wording has changed significantly. Now you only roll if the troll took wounds that weren't negated (if you fail the 4+ ward) at the END OF THE PHASE (meaning you get the ward for the whole phase at least), AND, if you end up having to roll, you only roll a SINGLE DIE. Statistically, this means your Trogboss could very easily have a 4+ ward for most of the game.
  10. Old World could easily be designed with slotted regimental bases in mind (ala Conquest) to allow players to use models from both systems. Do I think they'll do that? No. The greed is too powerful.
  11. My tinfoil hat theory is that Trolls are getting a wounds characteristic of 5 because the Loon Shrine, since its wd update, restricts units to a wounds characteristic of 5 or less. They're also as large as Ogroids, which have 5 wounds base.
  12. So is the Troggoth Hag gone for good this time?
  13. Anyone know what base size those wolf riders are sporting? I have some fantasy models to call forth from storage.
  14. I don't know if anything in that report is accurate. But AoS 3rd is definitely less popular in my area than in previous editions. Reasons: 1) Don't know how many times we can say this but...the game is too damn complicated. Strategies, battle tactics, battalions, ever-shifting realm rules. It's too much for your average wargamer. Only hardcore competitive players care to commit this stuff to memory, so all of the casual players end up playing a couple of games and then calling it quits. AoS should be the beer and pretzels game you can enjoy even after a long day at work. That's not what it is right now. People can talk all day about how the game has never been more balanced (which is true), but it doesn't matter a lick if nobody wants to spend the brain power to play it in the first place. 2) Prices have been so dramatically bloated in just the past few years that many potential customers are simply left by the wayside. There's a stark difference in prices in AoS from 3-5 years ago to now. Warhammer increasingly becomes the "premium" wargame that fewer people can afford. Sure, high-income households will continue to buy in without a care in the world, but middle-to-lower income customers are becoming increasingly reticent to get into a hobby that's going to bleed them for hyper-inflated models and books. I'll always play Warhammer to some degree, it's been embedded in my brain since I was a youngster; but slowly I've been selling off more of my Warhammer armies in exchange for trying out other companies' games, and I've found myself much more content. AoS is just too expensive...too tiring to play sometimes...and doesn't have me as excited as it once did.
  15. Conquest looks dope. I just wish they hadn't gone the GW-influenced "premium price" route. Otherwise I probably would have tried it by now.
  16. He always spouts nonsense and is almost always wrong. Sometimes he'll parrot something a well-known source has already leaked, but he's historically been wildly inaccurate.
  17. Mountain Lumineth armies are nonsense. They get a gajillion free buffs and debuffs and are nearly impossible to kill. A 120 point Stoneguard unit shouldn't be able to take a 260 pt Glutton charge, be totally fine, and murder almost the entire Ogre squad. The only thing in my army able to do a dent against them was a Stonehorn, and even then, there's no way he would ever be able to take down a Mountain King. The points are whack for Lumineth Cowlads.
  18. Anyone have points for DoK, Maggotkin, or Gitz? Ogres were a disappointment.
  19. Remember that awesome teaser for the last Gloomspite release. We had a snowy banner scene that became progressively more infested with gobs. It really feels like they've fallen on their laurels with 3rd edition releases. No creative hype trains. Just bland announcements of preview reveals.
  20. It's still a 50/50 chance, and it's pretty easily avoided. I've used Gnoblars in all of my games since the new book and they've never done any amount of damage that would have affected the outcome of a game. I think GW's "FUN DETECTORS" went off and decided to shut it down for trembling fear of something that wasn't a problem.
  21. Why the hell make Gnoblars cost 20 more points? They're literally just bodies meant to die. Were they afraid of a Gnoblar meta? The Gutbusters stuff is still way overcosted and 30 points on Ironblasters is an overcorrection for something that's only a problem in a specific subfaction. At least they're finally doing away with the stupid 5 point increments.
