  1. I enjoy the game, but overall, in really any board game, war game, card game, etc., I start to lose interest after about 90 minutes. I know in 40K, 2000 point games can take anywhere from 2 hours 30 minutes to up to 4 hours easily. Is AoS similar? Seems like it would take longer because of the way the AoS is played (it's not strictly "You go, I go"). If it does take a very long time to play, do you have any ideas on how to keep a game down to about 90 minutes? Am I'm going to most likely going to need to stay at 1000 point mark or below? Limit turns? Thanks in advance! SG
  2. Considering expanding my Kharadron force. This is what I currently have. It used to add up to 1000 points until, I believe, GHB18. Now, it's at 900. First of all, what's your recommendation to get to 1000 points. Secondly, what would your recommendation(s) be to get to 2000 points? Arkanaut Admiral Endrinmaster 2 x 10 Arkanaut Company 1 x Arkanaut Ironclad Thanks in advance! SG
  3. So, should it be all Morrsarr Guard without any Ishlean Guard? Or at least one Ishlean Guard and just more Morrsarr Guard? Thanks SG EDIT: something like this: Isharann Soulscryer Volturnos Ishlean Guard 3 x Morrsarr Guard
  4. I'm more of an Akhelian guy (probably should have mentioned that earlier). I'm sure this is not the only army that is viable with only mounted soldiers, but the idea is very cool! I'm not saying Foot Soldiers are a bad idea, but I'm leaning more toward an Akhelian list with all mounted soldiers (Volturnos, Guard, Allopexes, and eventially a Leviadon or two if I go for 2000 points somewhere down the road.). Right now, my idea (which is probably terrible) is something like: Volturnos Ishlean Guard Morrsarr Guard 3 x Allopexes That comes out to exactly 1000 points Any input is appreciated
  5. So, while I don't have any of these models now and may be a bit before I can get them all together, what would you all consider the best first 1000 points to collect for Idoneth Deepkin. I'm not in any way competitive. I'm just around to have fun, but I do love these models. Thanks in advance! SG
  6. Looking to put together a fun but not competitive (win half, lose half) 1000 point Kharadron Overlord army. So far, I have: 1 x Arkanaut Admiral 1 x Endrinmaster 2 x Arkanaut Company 1 x Arkanaut Ironclad Pre AoS2, the above was 1000 points on the dot. Now, with I'm guessing some point reductions, it's 900 points. Would just adding some Grundstok Thunderers (100 poinst which would make it an even 1000 points) be a good addition to this army? Thanks in advance! SG
  7. 1) I have I believe two Deathrunners that came with Silver Tower. Can I use those models in a Skaven army with the new Battletome? 2) I bought the Spire of Dawn box (happened to find it at an FLGS long after it had been discontinued by GW), and it comes with one Packmaster that could be used a Leader by itself. It came with a Trident (lower left in the attached picture. Where did that one end up? 3) I kinda figured that the Warlord had become the Clawlord based on the look of the model, but thank you for confirming 4) The Poison Wind Mortar Team is the only one that has me scratching my head. With the exception of a Plagueclaw/Warp Lightning Cannon, all of my Skaven models come from the Spire of Dawn box which didn't come out *that* long ago. I find it odd that they would just drop this model after releasing it in a box set shortly over two years ago (while AoS 1 was already alive and kicking). SG
  8. OK, so I don't have the Battletome, yet, but I have Azyr (I know it's not by any means always accurate). It seems that the Skaven Deathrunner, Skaven Warlord, Packmaster, and Poison Wind Mortar Weapon Team have either been removed completely from the Skaventide or have been renamed as something else. Can anyone help me out with this issue? Thanks SG
  9. OK, so I really want to start an Idoneth Deepkin army. I've spoken with my wife about it, and she is OK with it as long as I buy one model/box of models and finish painting them before picking up another one. That makes a lot of sense as I'm bad about buying up 1000 points of an army, starting to assemble and paint them, and then move on to something different leaving them only partly assembled and painted indefinitely. Please keep in mind that I do have other armies that I can add these models to like Stormcast and Sylvaneth, so it doesn't have to be a leader right away unless you all thing that would be best? If so, should I go for something like Volturnos? Would you recommend Akhelian Guard instead or maybe an Allopex? Thanks in advance! SG
  10. Very nice! I think these are still my favorite though: Idoneth Deepkin Bases SG
  11. I’m only a casual player, and I love the Allopex, Leviadon, and Eel models. Really like Volturnus, too. Reavers/Thralls... pretty cool that they are blind since they live so far under the water. But, otherwise I can live without them. SG
  12. So, I have very little time to paint here lately. And, I'll probably be finishing my 40K army in the near future. I was considering starting an Idoneth Deepkin army for AoS. I love the models for this army... especially the Leviadon. Anyway, while I know there are always good savings in the Start Collecting and the Battleforce boxes, is the Deepsurge Raiding Party box for the Idoneth really a good deal? I've done the list building, and it only gets you to 820 points which is shy of the 1000 points that seems to be the lowest baseline used in the AoS rulebook. The way I have found to remedy this is to, at some later date, buy Volturnos. Swap out the Tidecaster for Volturnos, and you hit 1000 points on the dot. I would rather build my entire army around Akhelians so that I could run Akhelian Guard as troops... essentially, I'd rather have a mounted army. That said, I can see the use in having some infantry as well. Anyway, all that said, is the box really a worthwhile value if I'm more-or-less going to be throwing away the Tidecaster to run Volturnos in its place? Or would it end up being about equal if I was to buy all of what comes in the Battleforce separately except for the Tidecaster and use that money for Volturnos instead. Also, as a final question, for Idoneth players, is this Battleforce box a good starting place for someone who would like to slowly get into Idoneth? Thanks SG
  13. Yes, it was a copy and paste problem. Sorry about that. As far as new Seraphon release, I very much doubt it. With DoK and Idoneth Deepkin along with Nightvault and the new warbands coming out, I highly doubt that we'll see anything new on Seraphon for a long time if at all. It does seem odd that the most powerful Leaders are still Resin/Finecast though. SG
  14. OK, so I updated my list Suggestions and Constructive Criticism welcome Thanks in advance! SG
  15. I could very well be mistaken, so I apologize if I am. But, I'm pretty sure say... last year, all GW's were more-or-less identical in what they carried and where they carried it. Granted, they couldn't all be exactly identical as store sizes varied. But, I am pretty sure they all carried the same amount of each model, models, boxed games, etc. I think it was only recently (maybe toward the beginning of this year) that they started tailoring their stock per store. So, if a given store doesn't sell a lot of a certain model, they don't get any more of that model. If sales of that model or those models pick up, they will get more of them. You are correct that GW has limited stock space and does keep coming out with new boxes, boxed games, and models all the time. But, this time last year, you may have been able to walk into your local GW and buy an entire Seraphon army with everything but resin and finecast models available in the store. This year, however, if those same models didn't sell well last year, then your local store wouldn't be sent more stock. They would be sent more stock on what does sell well so that it would be available in the store. So, while you are correct, I do believe that GW is drastically changing the way that they are stocking their stores as well (which can make a huge difference from location to location as to what each store has in stock). SG EDIT: As a quick example, I'm sure there are several GW stores all over the US that have Necromunda games going on every day. There may even be some that have Necromunda leagues or tournaments. And, I'm sure they have core sets, books, and gangs in stock. That said, since Necromunda didn't take off at all at my local GW, there is literally not a single sign that N17 even exists... not one gang, not one book, not one core set... nothing.
  16. I actually have had a talk with my local GW's manager about that particular issue. I asked why he had nothing Necromunda related and no boxes of Chaos Space Marines (only the Start Collecting Chaos Space Marines box). From what I gather, GW is being far pickier than it used to be about what models get shipped to each GW store. If something doesn't take off at a GW store, you'll never see it at GW. This, again, happened with both Necromunda (like anything related to it... they have nothing Necromunda at my local GW) and Chaos Space Marines at my local GW. I'm pretty sure that the Seraphon Start Collecting box is the best value of all of the Start Collecting boxes (40K or AoS), so it would make sense that a lot of people would be very interested in it. But, if the additional Seraphon models (warriors, skinks, knights, guard, bastiladon, etc.) just didn't sell well, then regardless of how many Start Collecting boxes sell, they probably won't ship any boxes of other Seraphon models to your store again (unless people from that store specifically begin ordering a lot of them through the store's computer). SG
  17. Excellent! Thank you again for your help! SG
  18. Thank you for all of the info! SG EDIT: For the point cost, would you recommend Lord Kroak or Slann Starmaster? Thanks in advance
  19. Based on what comes with the Christmas Battleforce box for Seraphon, what changes would you make (add or remove) for my army to be more fun... to be more solid? Thanks in advance! SG
  20. So, I want to see if someone can help me with my army. I'm building a 2000 point Seraphon army. It's not meant for competition... just for fun. That said, it'd be nice to win as many as I lose. Right now, I don't have really any summoning going on as I've been working on other AoS projects. And, I have put the money other places. But, seeing the Christmas box set for Seraphon and the $210 savings pulled me back in pretty quickly as I love and/or really want some of the models available in that box. My current army including the battalions I use to get it to the 2000 point mark. While I like the Shadowstrike Starhost, I'm not sure the Firelance Starhost is really worthwhile. I, also, know that there isn't any summoning engine in this army while summoning is one of this army's strengths. Below is my current list, and I was wondering if anyone could help me improve the army with what's in the Christmas Seraphon box set. I would greatly appreciate it. Here's the breakdown of the Seraphon Christmas box from Spikey Bits Thanks in advance! SG
