Seeing the most recent endless spell additions makes the Nighthaunt ones just seem kind of worthless.... poor little spooks...

The power creep with endless spells was real before but now it's just crazy

I would hope that at least these 'spells' cost a ton of blood tithe or require a priest to take friendly units out behind the shed to get them going.

Warshrine won't work on the beasts models. It only helps models with the Mortal keyword, which beasts of chaos models do not have. The only model in your list that the Warshrine is supporting is the Lord of Slaanesh on a Daemonic mount.

You're right I forgot beasts don't have the mortal keyword. Figure I should run a second gorghon instead?

  3. So I have an idea for a hosts list that makes use of the depraved drove to bring in some beasts to fill out our admittedly ****** poor range of options for mortals and battalions.

My idea at the moment is:

    Shagoth

    Great bray shaman

    Infernal enrapturess

    KoS

    Herald on exalted chariot

Lord of slaanesh on daemonic mount

    2 units of 10 gors

    1 unit of 20 gors

    1 unit of 3 fiends

    gorghon

    warshrine

I'm hoping that the shagoth, enraptures and KoS will earn me some quick depravity to bring in daemonettes. The fiends have handled big monsters pretty well for me in the past so i'm thinking of using them and the lord with a gryph feather charm to tie up beatsticks. The warshrine will help get charges off when i'm not rushing someone with an artefact and will help protect the beasts from battleshock and unnecessary wounds. I feel obligated to try out the gorghon because it seems like a nice distraction carnifex to throw at my opponent. The bray shaman can help the gors keep up and it's spell can help move enemy backline into charge range. All in all probably not the most optimal list but that's why i'm posting here for advice!

  4. Hey all,

I've been talked into running slaanesh for a path to glory campaign and wanted to know if rules had been released for taking the infernal enrapturess in a warband? Would i just use the herald restrictions since it's a herald or does it have it's own warband rules yet?

As someone who shares no love for TK I think thats pretty cool...

But then again it’s not my army,  I’ve said it before, Undead Order based in Azyr would be fantastic for TK, their background would suit the idea of them being Lore tied to the Realm of Heavens, but I imagined something along the line of “Good” undead with a dislike for tainted Chaos, looting Destruction, and Nagjash’s smelly undead Legion. Gold Flying Chariots, Death mask soldiers, Giants Constructs all led by withering Liches and princes in fine ornate armour...But guess they’re just in the Chambers now.

If there's going to be a 'good' undead army it's either gonna be TK 2 electric boogaloo or some edgy anti-nagash vampire rebels. I'd be happy either way but if that stormvault opened and some bone boys in golden armour walked out i'd start playing order in a heartbeat.

  6. Settra might not bend the knee, but maybe after fighting his way through the warp, slaying countless daemons only to have his socks rocked by khorne himself, would Settra strike a deal with Sigmar to be reforged as a celestant. Part of the deal may involve having a bunch of TK souls being reforged as well, forming this unit of 'imperishables' he leads. It might be less of a 'you work for me' and more of a 'i'll just point you in a direction and you do your thing' type of agreement. Sigmar provides the power and bodies (both literally and figuratively) and Settra uses his literal eons of skill and experience to curb stomp anything stupid enough to be in his way. If this is what's in the next soul wars release then for once i'd actually eat my shoe and say i'm happy to see a stormcast release... GW prove me right, but please prove me wrong....

  7. Been seeing some discussion on the daemon engine teases, looks to me like it's all for 40k models if not one large model. We've seen armour, a heavily modified marine power pack, a chain weapon, crab claw and bolter. I wouldn't be surprised if this is for a new slaanesh daemon prince or slaanesh themed lord of chaos or some new hero variant for 40k, probably as either part of the next black legion push or the hopeful release of emperors children as a stand alone codex. On the bright side (for folks that don't play 40k anyways, for people like me who play emps children it's just icing) new slaanesh stuff for 40k means possible new daemons/sculpts that can be used in AoS and lots of new slaanesh bits for conversion projects.

  8. Update on the tournament I went to:

Pulled 2 wins and 1 loss, all really close games.

First match was against another grandhost player, we couldn't push each other off of the objectives so it came down to kill points, I came out on top due to killing his morghasts, terrorgheist and VLoZD.

Second match was against DoK, lost by 1 victory point in a down to the wire match where my opponent pulled a win by pushing through my grimghasts and dire wolves with a massive stack of snake ladies. Morathi tore through my skeletons for 2 turns but fell in turn 3 to arkhan and the mortis engine.

Last match was against SCE, Pulled a 2 point win by maintaining objective control using my better numbers. The match came close near the end however due to a ballista/castigator battalion tearing up my fodder.

All in all, the battalion worked great even if I didn't do too many wounds with spells, the debuffs got there money's worth however. The corpse cart did wonders for nearby dire wolves and kept my wizards going. Every match my VLoZD lived way longer than he should have and managed to tie up and weaken a lot of big units in each game. My biggest issue was probably having too many heroes on one board side, leaving nothing but my VloZD to anchor my galives and wolves on my other flank, bit of a drawback inherent in my battalion choice but still a fun time.

The way I remember your list, it added up to 1870 (arkhan, 2necros, VloZd, mortis, 2x5 wolves, 40 skellis, 12 glaivewraith and the battalion).

disclaimer: no experience with the stalkers, but they look brutal...

with the battalion you start with 2CP, so you don‘t really need to buy one.

Wightking should fit pretty snug into the skellis... not sure what else you would be looking for.

other option might be a soul harvest bomb through a portal... you‘d start with 3 CP and boost the soul harvest with Arkhans CA, while the wightking turbocharges the skellis. Or more puppies

the hardest part is using the list, can‘t help you there, I‘m bad at that 😂👍

I never bothered buying the endless spells box because I'd only ever use maybe 3 of them. I've fooled around with similar lists before, usually ends up with the dire wolves holding side objectives, skellies swamping middle objectives. My opponent unable to decide which hero to focus there range on and me taking ten years to do my hero phases because of all my spells. Also forgot to include the corpse cart for the extra +1 to casting, but if a wight king would be a better pick then I might go with that.

  10. @Malakithe @Honk I need you guys to weigh in then, should I drop the glaivewraiths for a wight king to be a tankier general? I'm hesitant to make the VLoZD my general because I want him to have some freedom of movement and not have to worry about him being near anything, the necros are already going to be hanging around my skellies so i figured might as well slap nagashizzar on one.

Share the results, especially if there is a win.  Details please.

Also the choice word “shenanigans” is entirely appropriate.  In a 40k League game for giggles someone threw an Eldar list of Named Characters at me plus one transport at me.

I'm just praying not to be paired against the tzeench player that's going, It'd be a shame for all my magic to backfire 😅

  12. Trying out some shenanigans for a tournament soon:

    Lords of sacrament:

    Arkhan (soul harvest)

necro 1(general, lord of nagashizzar, overwhelming dread)

    necro 2(ossific diadem, fading vigour)

    mortis engine

    VLoZD(ethereal amulet, vile transference)

    2X5 dire wolves

    1X40 skeletons(spears)

    1X12 glaivewraith stalkers

    1 purchased command point

    Any suggestions or criticisms?

Agreed! Plus the fact they aren't spells does also herald them expanding into the non-magic armies like BCR. Which, also given the affirment that even more battletomes are coming, means a good chance BCR or Gutbusters will get an update!

That skull looks like the most fragile model imaginable though! xD

It would be cool for BCR to get an endless spell type model for that endless blizzard thing in their lore

I think slaanesh will be mixed up in the new AOS expansion, if we look in the top 5 thing to look out for this year GW notes new endless spells, slaanesh and the expansion. I suspect we will get a tease of slaanesh around valentine's day, GW won't miss that. They even used it to reveal Morathi.

True, after all my valentines day will probably be spent painting the daemonnetes from wrath and rapture...

But i also wouldn't mind it being used to tease soulblight with a lahmian vamp sculpt or even old issy von carstein herself! Doubtful but they've surprised us before.

Tomb Kings have been kept in a secret vault by Sigmar. Soon he will unleash them upon Nagash.

Not the tomb kings as a whole, nagash saw to their defeat... but in a secret chamber marked "open in case of bedsheets" sigmar has kept the mighty daemon prince Settra the imperishable, who he obviously had to pull from the skull throne as he was busy telling khorne he does not serve, he rules...

A little confused to why Khorne is getting an updated tome, and especially endless spells of all things but I'm not complaining. The teasers for future releases like the new AoS game and soul wars 2.0 seem promising! I wonder if the "something ancient and terrible" has something to do with Tomb Kings? The Sylvaneth and 40k models look lovely, I especially love the chaos spider model.

Slaanesh feeds off souls, and the aelves steal them so i wouldn't be surprised if it was something aelf or slaanesh related. However tomb kings coming back would be a pleasant surprise. Glad i started my emperors children army this year, with all the fancy new stuff i'll be able to get a surplus of old models cheap now, and replace my old abbadon...

So from and AoS perspective, actual information revealed is pretty meh(not a fan of Khorne), though I'm pretty stoked about Chaos Space marines. Primaris Space marines are getting their vanguard chamber now, will they get their sacrosant next, or is that Grey Knights.

i can agree on the AoS being meh, was hoping for darkoath or slaanesh as i play both but ah well. And clearly we'll be getting primaris grey knight lieutenants, what else would constitute a proper expansion for our stormmarineeternalastartes?

Do you think that performance might signal that they can perform well or is it just a one off? All I'm reading, of course, is results. I didn't watch any games, what makes it so remarkable? Can other players not emulate this?

They have a few neat tricks, like grapple hooking around in the shooing phase, but there transportation rules with their airships does handicap you a fair bit for using one of their unique mechanics, so i feel it comes down to a perfect storm of skill, enemy army and mission type.

Hmm. Forgot about price as an obvious repellent. If you think about DOK though, they're arguably worse in terms of money, but theyre super strong so people buy them regardless, also Im sure some people just like them, but they are also broken lol. So I guess at least if KO do get a rewrite, they'll get buffed before getting their costs cut.

Even have a way to make gunhaulers battleline or something so that you don't have to drop $150 (canadian monopoly money) on the bare minimum arkanaut company required to play. Then there's the $100-150 cost of there larger airships... Yeah considering I was a broke college student at the time I found it much easier to put together a LoN army.

  20. Just now, Walrustaco said:

Why do you think casuals don't play them? You see casuals playing stuff like Aelves or StD. I remember some factions putting me off by seeming hard to transport or seeming easily damaged. I remember that was the initial feelings people had with skyships.

I myself have a Slaves army (though i'm currently using it as the basis for a slaanesh army until darkoath drops) but between their less than stellar start collecting set, prices of their other kits, unfamiliarity with being a new army (where as aelves and slaves are based in older armies with nostalgia from WFB) and yes awkward transportation (been dealing with that with my mortis engine lately) they where a hard sell to players with only so much money to spend, my self included as i considered them for my first army, throw their sub par rules on top of that and i can see where many people would be turned off from them.

  21. Just now, Walrustaco said:

Are you trying to tell me that we have a rumour in the rumour thread? Since you're mentioning that, are there any other rewrites or releases you know of?

I'm also curious about what you mean by virtually no representation. Are they not still played at tournaments? Did a list with KO not finish 2nd at CanCon as was mentioned?

A good tournament player can get results with almost any army, a lot of the competitive players in my area switch armies all the time to challenge themselves. But from what I can tell, there aren't many casual players running them, none in my area and none in the local areas of any of the folks i talk to outside my area. Both of the hobby shops i go to tell me they don't sell either.
