  1. Oh snap, I hadn't noticed the Grieving Legion keyword on Kurdoss. Does that mean you *have* to take Grieving Legion if you want to use Kurdoss?
  2. Goldchaser Maw-Walkers Grub is monstrous in size even for his kind, but he was never the brightest of lads. He did however find entertainment in watching the Leadbelchers blast things to pieces. They would never let him hold one though since he would often mess it up and break parts. The Rusty brothers, two Gnoblar twins, proposed to him an alternative then. They built a catapult on his back so that he could still see and participate in the destruction. And they get to cause it of course. Win-win. I am quite happy with the wooden parts. I knew I wanted them to have a metallic sheen to reinforce that we are in Chamon, but I didn't want them to be fully metallic. I think it's worked. The base is meant to be oxidized copper. Overall, quite happy with the result. There were tons of fiddly little details so it took a bit, but worth it. Only thing I'm not too certain about is the rust effect, maybe it's a bit much. Any thoughts?
  3. I think Frightful Touch is a nice example here that GW has hopefully learned. Just being auto-wound feels a bit weak because there's other factions like Kruleboyz that got the MW on 6 while that feels more appropriate for Nighthaunt than them tbh. But then you get an army like Krule where it's all about MW output and nothing else. I don't think it's good for balance and leads to an arms race. I do wish we had a pip more rend here or there, because ghosts passing through armor just makes sense and it would really help units like Harridans. All in all, I hope this is a sign of a shift in design philosphy for GW, and not just haunt being left behind.
  4. Speaking of the Command Traits. They do seem all kind of meh, especially with the Ruler of the Spirit Hosts change. Feels like 9/10 times you're better off taking Master of Magic on a caster general to get Soul Cage or something out more consistently. Our spell lore is still damn good, but we still don't have casting bonuses outside Reikenor so MoM is incredibly valuable.
  5. Even reading the Scarlet Doom flavor text, it genuinely feels like they intended it to be for Dreadscythe Harridans, but then they realized that MW on the charge for a unit that benefits from enemies being wounded was too easy of a synergy and they swapped things around.
  6. Nighthaunt subreddit. The thread with most comments, someone asks about Path to Glory.
  7. Oh thanks, found them. So the Dreadblade Harrow is now a mobile propagator of Command Abilities. Grimghasts have lost their re-rolls but gain an extra attack against hordes. Scriptor seems unchanged. Nothing extraordinary there. Not sure if Grimghasts really measure up to Bladgheists or Harridans though.
  8. More I think about it, more the combination of Knight of Shrouds and the strike-last effects we have available both from Soul Cage and Wave of Terror seems very potent. With multiple Knights there are genuinely realistic scenarios where all of our units strike before all of the opponents. Of course we are nowhere near as effective on the opponent's turn when we don't have our charge effects. Edit: on the other end, Harridans supported by a Krulghast can probably tarpit and outlast decently well. They stack some debuffs on the charge, and hit much harder against wounded targets. Krulghast can also ping enemies a bit to activate their buff. Knight of Shrouds + Bladegheists and Krulghast + Harridan seem like interesting combos for now.
  9. It's already been said, but the allegiance abilities are so good. I'm pretty happy overall with what I'm seeing. We're losing a bit of punch on some warscrolls for all the utility and denial we get, but that's not too bad honestly. The -1 save on Wave of Terror is helpful too. I'm most surprised by the Spirit Host change though. They now bodyguard on a 3+ while losing their MW output. They are basically meatshields, but they will help our support heroes survive for a long time. It does come instead of Ward saves though, so they took care to make Olynder not completely invincible. Edit: Also I must credit GW, the Discorporate CA is a very elegant way of compensating us for not being able to use All-Out Defence. Edit2: Also some nice synergy between Knight of Shrouds and Dreadscythe Harridans, where they fight immediately after each other and if the Knight actually did damage, the Harridans have a 3+/3+ profile. The free AoA is wasted then though.
  10. Nighthaunt actually fully leaked, I love it. The allegiance abilities are so flavorful and pretty good too, really happy with that. The warscrolls are perhaps a bit more bland to compensate, but that's more than worth it. Spirit Hosts being bodyguards is also really nice for all those squishy support heroes.
  11. As cool as it would be to see a new army, I don't think they'll be able to get out 4 tomes in one quarter if one is a completely new release. Especially with the big StD overhaul coming directly after. I'm surprised we're getting this much to be honest.
  12. I so hope you're right, Morghur is easily one of my favorites and I've been mulling over potential beastmen conversions for a while now.
  13. I don't know how large the Plagueclaw Catapult is, but at 45-50mm it'd be roughly the same height as AoS Ogors or similar monstrous infantry and not look out of place. It doesn't need to be exactly the same imo, we are not all the same height either. And you can always put it on an appropriate base. Also if you're not sure, I'd suggest just grabbing a measuring tape and looking at the height of models you own to get an idea of what you want.
  14. You can order it at different sizes, I went for 54mm eye height which is a bit taller than regular Ogor models it turns out but that's fine in this case.
  15. I started looking into this recently and there's a ton of great 3d prints out there honestly. Clay Beast Creation, Lord of the Print, Bestiarium Miniatures, Clay Cyanide Miniatures and many mores have some cool stuff. I don't own a 3d printer personally, but it appears a lot of people buy licenses for them and sell these on Etsy (e.g Mythforged, Proxywars). More expensive than printing yourself I guess, but still cheaper than GW. Always worth a try looking on there. I've bought this Ogre Catapult recently (probably a Scraplauncher proxy), and I've also ordered this one as a Butcher/Tyrant proxy since it fits the aesthetic I'm going for. I'm also eyeing some alternatives for Beastmen since I had an idea for a Shaggoth kitbash, but don't have an affordable idea for regular Dragon Ogors.
  16. I've finished the Great Mawpot! Quite happy with how it came out, maybe a few small touch-ups here and there but the overall composition worked out how I imagined it. I've also written some basic lore as to where in Chamon my armies are from, but I'll edit that into the first post to keep things organized.
  17. They changed things so that Ogors worship Gorkamorka as the Gulping Maw or The Great Beast that Consumes the World didn't they? The Firebellies also call him the Sun-Eater. So basically all their religion was retconned changed to worshiping him. Ogors are also commonly mercenaries and have also never been known for adhering to honor or loyalty, so cunning tactics aren't out of the question as long as you can find an Ogor capable of formulating such plans. Or perhaps they are simply following the plans of a Kruleboy rich enough to hire them and keep them well-fed. Maneaters could slot in well thematically, seeing as they have more worldly experience, and are renowned for being opportunistic. I think Ogors could very well fit the 'cunning but brutal' part. They wouldn't have the control or stealth capabilities to be all cunning, but they make up for it with brutal strength once they are in your face. If they have to set a trap or ambush for that, they would.
  18. When you want and/or expect + 2-3 weeks.
  19. I've nearly finished the last five Harridans, but more importantly: my first Ogor has arrived! Usually I tend to stick to GW minis, but I saw this thing on Etsy and I was really curious as to the quality of these kinds of 3D prints. It looks pretty dope I think. For some reason a few of the ropes were missing though, so I made some from steel wire using my drill. And I also made a few additions to represent the loot from the seraphon temple. Ogor's need a bit of bling too ya know.
  20. Wow, didn't even change the Spirit Torment or Chainghasts in price. I'm most disappointed in the Bladegheists change though. I was hoping for more differentiation between the our infantry options, but so far they have only lost an ability and that's it. Banshee change looks dope though. Hopefully there's some interesting battle traits and/or sub-factions.
  21. Damn the Incarnate seems like a pretty strong centerpiece with decent support based on that article. Really hoping for a Chamon Incarnate soon, since my armies are themed around it and some could definitely use a monster centerpiece/boost to their casting.
  22. So now you have to get the Chainghasts to get a buff from your Spirit Torment, and it's no longer around the Spirit Torment. Unless both models were massively reduced in price that is very expensive for worse effect. Spirit Torment may no longer be as much of a staple it seems. I'm curious if we'll see less of a focus on buff-aura heroes in general in the new battletome.
  23. I have a faint suspicion the Nighthaunt tome will be the flavorful one, while DoK will be the powerful one. Like FS and IDK. Oh well, wasn't a tournament player anyway. Just give me cool subfactions and I'm happy.
  24. Ogor Mawtribes - The Goldchaser Maw-Walkers (Still considering the name tbh) So here's the other army I've been wanting to work on, the not-so-friendly neighborhood gluttons. As they travel around a bunch, there could easily be some in Chamon and they could easily stumble into anything. A seraphon temple-city for example. These ogors have found and looted a poorly-defended/abandoned temple city and taken the riches. I think the aztec theme of the seraphon could work quite well for ogors too and it allows me to use all the spare lizardmen bits I have from my WHFB days. All the gold and such would fit quite well for Chamon where this otherwise precious mineral is incredibly common. Now I should hopefully have my first model soon, but in the meantime I've started work on something else: the Great Mawpot. I really liked the idea of using a Stegadon's head here since Ogors kinda use whatever is around, and it is thematic. Plus it's a fun bit of hobby work to do. EDIT: I bought the chain and attached it to the poles as mentioned before the edit. I do seem to have misplaced my cork, so haven't made the base yet.
