Seems likely the Battletome will be up for pre-order soon so it wouldn’t surprise me that they’re holding back the updated warscrolls until then.

I see it now. Not really bothered that it’s nothing new, got no money left in the hobby budget for a while anyway.

Well, pre-ordered my copy. This is the first of these battleboxes I’ve actually bought and I’m incredibly excited. Completely derailed my plans to finish 1500pts of Khorne though.

Do you mean new models? Because I don’t think that’s gonna happen. GW said you can play 9 non-Chaos factions at launch. As far as I know, they haven’t said anything else about it. I think it’s much more likely that you will be able to use existing models to play. It seems pretty clear to me that Warcry is all about Chaos and that the other factions were more of an afterthought to ensure other fans didn’t get too upset.

That’s what I’d like to see too. Or at least a full reveal of the starter set contents.

I agree the models look good but we’re talking a very slippery slope here. If GW starts to compromise on their quality on more models they will end up compromising on all models and people will lose interest and certainly will not be prepared to pay GW’s premium prices. I personally like their insistence on keeping as much as possible “in house” from a consumer perspective. However, I highly doubt that GW are choosing to do these models as endless spells because they can’t produce them themselves - they bring out new models every month. It seems more likely to me that they are being told to do endless spells because they have proven to sell well and they are prioritising this over producing something else. Can’t blame them from a business perspective but I’d rather see the investment in time and money designing and producing three lower quality models of endless spells put into designing and producing one higher quality unit for the army. All of this is completely based on my personal disinterest in endless spells at all though, so I can’t really expect GW to make business decisions based on my feelings.

It’s 3:20am here in Aus now but I doubt they are doing a preview at 6:30 in the morning, it’ll probably be 6:30pm. Edit: just checked Warhammer Community and the preview is after the tournament - you’ve got 15 hours to go.

Agreed. Although I think this one in particular looks excellent and would fit in nicely without an issue. GW are really flogging this endless spell thing now to the point where I think they’re overlooking better options.

Pretty safe bet it’ll be the same as the previous boxes. No guarantee but I think all the others have been at the same price point.

It’s because the mushroom appears to be piercing into the foot, rather than the foot grazing it. The top of the mushroom just disappears. Still a great model and as sorokyl said we’re probably never going to see it so it’s not a biggy. Still a bit funny though.

Yeah, the weird mushroom connection (just found my new band name) is one of the stranger things I’ve seen GW do but certainly not enough to put me off the model - think it’s brilliant.

Could be. I would so love that and it is pretty plausible with Warcry not too far away.

Congratulations! As a man who has yet to finish painting a single army he’s ever started, I can appreciate exactly how big an achievement 2000pts is. I’m currently on yet another attempt but with a 1500pt target to make it a bit more achievable for me. Personally, I go through hobby binges where I will spend the entire weekend painting then maybe do nothing for a few weeks. Kinda the way I like it though - If I’m forcing myself to do it, I’m not enjoying it as much. Again, congrats. Edit: couldn’t see the pics for some reason - army looks great!

Well that’s..... underwhelming. Still, anything is better than nothing. I’m more excited by a potential re-release of the Wyldwood alongside Sylvaneth.

I’m not entirely convinced they are terrain sets. Or more accurately, I’m not convinced they’re all terrain sets. The ziggurat is actually what’s throwing me. I mean, it could just be a custom build by the scenery team made out of foambord. It certainly doesn’t look any more complicated than that and if it is a terrain kit then it’s going to need a lot more to it to tempt me. If I’m going to buy scenery, it’s got to be something I couldn’t make for myself at home. Nothing wrong with the look of any of it, just a bit boring in my opinion.

Does the box seem a little lighter on contents than previous ones? Only two units and the hero for Gloomspite.... I guess it’s probably value rather than unit numbers that determine what goes in there.

It also says there’s something for all play styles but I’m guessing they assume you’re interested in endless spells and therefor your play style must include them in some way.

The dias is in the Forbidden Power pictures and video and the statues and temple are likely the ones in the Slaanesh pictures.

I definitely wouldn’t say the release is disappointing - They’re some fantastic models and I’m genuinely pleased to see the plastic Keeper finally - But no mortals (humans in this case, for the pedantic out there) means I won’t be starting a Slaanesh army. To be fair, I wasn’t planning on collecting Slaanesh but a good unit of mortals might have pushed me over the edge. GW didn’t lose anything from me, but they didn’t gain anything either.
