  1. I think they are dead. But I'm talking about being salty as an ultra competitive player, not as the guy looking to sling some models around at the local store (both are fun).
  2. The cannon change really really blows. Not because I liked the look but from a competitive stand point it is a huge nerf. The thing about the cannons are that they fill a giant gap that the rest of th army has. They provided a some what fast, ranged threat and made your opponent come to you to do something about it. Now we lost that and the army really suffers from it. I get people being happy that Khorne is more Khorne, but winning competitive games with Khorne is just as fun and it is a huge nerf. At least I only proxyed mine. I literally had plans to buy 3 this weekend, glad I waited, but still super salty.......
  3. Does anyone here have experience trying to make Dark Feast work? It's a cheap battalion and the new Goretide rules seem to help it out. The Bloodsecrator becomes so important but the reavers are actually threats and they generate a ton of BloodTithe so your BT or Manticore can attack twice. LEADERS Chaos Lord on Manticore (250) -Demensional Blade Wrath of Khorne Bloodthirster (320) Bloodstoker (80) Slaughterpriest (100) Bloodsecrator (140) -Thornebreakers Torc UNITS 10 x Bloodreavers (70) 10 x Bloodreavers (70) 10 x Bloodreavers (70) 10 x Bloodreavers (70) 10x Bloodreavers (70) 10 x Bloodreavers (70) 5 x Wrathmongers (140) 3 x Skull Cannons (420) BATTALIONS Dark Feast (110)
  4. You made a million assumptions about tournament players and myself. In tournaments you need every rule to be clear beause otherwise the games could break down into arguements. It is worth breaking down the rules before hand to remove all doubts on how they should be applied. The rules should be scrutinized for tournaments but in the end, you are right, you should do what makes sense. You just lost your mind for no reason. Relax.
  5. Listen I agree with you haha. But that's not how the rule is written. "After this unit attacks for the first time in each combat phase" only explains when the ability goes off and then it just says attacks. Not melee attacks or attacks just made, etc. The exact wording doens't exclude attacks that killed models in the shooting phase. But it's a moot point because I agree with you and I agree it's how the rule should be interpreted.
  6. If I'm bringing Skullcannons to a competitive tournament I just wanted to be sure. The rule actually doesn't specifically state attacks made in the combat phase. The ability occurs after this unit attacks in the combat phase and then it says "attacks." It does not say "attacks made my melee weapons." I haven't play the unit this way, I was just curious, like I said, if you were at a tournament where winning is all that mattered, could you make this arguement.
  7. The wording is actually even more vague. The way it reads, it sounds like if you shoot an enemy unit with Burning Skulls, kill a model and then get into Close Combat, but don't kill a model, you still get to shoot again. I know it is most likely refering to the melee attacks, but it says "after this unit attacks for the first time in the each combat phase, if enemy models were slain this unit's attacks this unit can attack with all of the missile weapons it is armed with." I'm looking for cheese, but the way it reads it does not exclude models killed with missile weapons. Thoughts??
  8. I've read my book 5 times and I want to 100% be sure about something. Am I right in saying that the rules for the Slaugherhosts do not prevent me from usinga WoK BT as my Goretide General? I want to put the below on the table this weekend. I think the list has good anti-magic, healthy wound count (147), some speed/reach, two hammer units and then Speedy Bloodwarriors and sturdy Skullreapers to fight other infantry and stand on key objectives. Goretide: Wrath of Khorne Bloodthirster (general) (320) Slaughterpriest (100) Slaughterpriest (100) Bloodstoker (80) UNITS 15 x Blood Warriors (300) 10 x Bloodreavers (70) 10 x Bloodreavers (70) 3 x Skull Cannons (420) 5 x Wrathmongers (140) 10 x Skullreapers (360) ENDLESS SPELLS Hexgorger Skulls (40)
  9. Has anyone, with the models, had a chance to play with 3 Skullcannons buffed up by Wrathmongers and Secator? It puts an even bigger target on the Secator's head (this is always the case) but the dice math with 9 shots from 3 Skullcannons is scary. Very scary. I hate these models so much but it seems like ranged/mobile big "look at me threat" that a lot of mortal armies need.
  10. Stupid question, but do multiple units of Wrathmongers stack? Is that part of the SkullCannon "tech"? I hate the Skull Cannon models so much but they seem like they feel a big void in Goretide lists.
  11. It would be hard to keep the Wrathmongers with the BTs. Good on paper, but hard to pull off.
  12. I'm not arguing that Khorne is super top tier, I was just pointing out to people who think they can’t be "competitive" that they can be. But no sh** Sherlock lol. I also don't get your point about the CanCon list? I don't think anyone would say look, Khorne has the best list ever! I think the point is to say that Khorne is good enough to win, even in the literal most competitive tournaments out there. I think you are assuming I'm arguing that Khorne is super good, I'm just arguing they aren’t bad like everyone keeps harping on.
  13. They are more expensive, and not battleline, but Skullreapers are one of the most self-sufficient units we have. Rerolls built in and fearless. They also mow through chaff. You will want some chaff of your own, so the cheapest is Reavers. I do think Reapers, althought slow, can fit the bill because they will be on that objective to the very last wound.
  14. Seraphon just went 5-0 at Adepticon, so the non-top tier armies can still win. I'm not saying you can't say it's underpowered, but saying things like it's being downright depressing for the competitive crowd is just such a strong sweeping judgement that seems inaccurate. I think the issue is, other than Tyrants, there is no "OP" combo that is easy to pull off and jumps off the page, which I think contributes to people thinking the book is weak. It's easy to look at something like Eel spam and Nagash and feel like you can't compete, but there are a lot of other ways to play and I think the army still has strengths. Also, I would argue, for their points, Wrathmongers and Skullreapers in Goretide do dmg and are pretty self-sufficient. This frees you up to buff up your Bloodwarrior block with your Priests and Stoker. That's not too unreasonable.
  15. Guys... how many of us have played the new book in a Tournament? How many people have actually tried out all the new battalions and combos in a "competitive" setting? I would try not to say things like this because we just don't know. For example, no one is talking about Bloodforged. I feel like it could be very powerful. Wrathmongers are cheap and have 2 inch range, making it easier to get 10 guys into combat. 10 guys attacking twice? yes please. I also think a buffed up unit of 10-15 Bloodwarriors in Goretide is very competitive. Khorne lacks movement, but with a bloodstoker and Goretide, woooaahh momma. Also, how many people have played with a Goretide Chaos Lord? With Demionsal Blade he hits super hard, is cheaper than a BT, faster than a BT, and his main weapons don't degrade with damage. I'm not saying I'm right, because I dont have all the below models to test, but my point is, keep the faith brothers. Keep trying things and don't make big sweeping judgements that others might take the wrong way. I think something like the below could have a lot of potential. *Goretide* Chaos Lord on Manticore (250) - Flail & Lance Slaughterpriest (100) Slaughterpriest (100) Skullgrinder (80) Bloodstoker (80) 15 x Blood Warriors (300) - Goreaxe & Gorefist 10 x Bloodreavers (70) - Reaver Blades 10 x Bloodreavers (70) - Reaver Blades 10 x Wrathmongers (280) 5 x Wrathmongers (140) 10 x Skullreapers (360) Bloodforged (120) TOTAL: 1950/2000
  16. I doubt he was able to pull off the "surprise" first round charges at a major tournament. People know how to deploy against things like that, but you have a point and the Stoker changes hurt your charge range. Then again you failed to mention the buffs to BTs. The fact that one can hit twice in combat and that the new Battalion allows you to hit with all 3 (or more) at the same time. Plus the new Shrine gives you rerolls for free, so it helps pay for the new battalion or the 3rd BT. Again, it's a shift in power. Maybe it's more minus than plus, but it's still undecided.
  17. Yes sir! It was a huge and highly competitive tournament. I think Khorne will be just fine
  18. It's way too early to tell how the book will do. People have barely had time to play with the new rules, let alone try out all the new rules, combos and changes. Just as a reminder, Khorne won Cancon 2019 not that long ago. I don't think the book has changed that much that all of a sudden they are bottom tier. We even (sort of) get half of Gore Pilgrims for free now. Wrath of Khorne Bloodthirster (320) Bloodthirster of Insensate Rage (260) Bloodstoker (80) Bloodsecrator (140) Slaughterpriest (100) Slaughterpriest with Hackblade and Wrathhammer (100) Units 5 x Blood Warriors (100) 10 x Bloodreavers (70) 10 x Bloodreavers (70) 10 x Flesh Hounds (200) 10 x Skullreapers (340) Battalions Gore Pilgrims (200)
  19. Is a Khorne Daemon Prince worth taking? I feel like he is a little out place. Does anyone have any good combos or ways to use him?
  20. Yeah I meant dropping 1 or 2 of your 10 man units to 5. Sorry if my wording was confusing.
  21. I like your list. You will have to see what works for you, but I would maybe consider dropping down 1 or 2 of your Blood Warrior units to 5, dropping 1 Reaver unit and upping either your Skullreapers or Wrathmongers to 10. Skullreapers, IMO, are better than Bloodwarriors, even though they are more expensive, and Wrathmongers have 2inch range, so it's easier for groups of 10 to all get into combat. Just my opinion though.
  22. I think there are actually a lot of different ways to play Tyrants of Blood lists. If you go WoK BT, BT of Insenate Rage, BT of Insenate Rage, you still get 3 very strong beatsticks and have room to build. After that you still have enough points to put a ton of wounds on the board. I think 10x Skullreapers pair really well with Tyrants lists because they are self sufficient. They are fearless, already hit on 3+ 3+. reroll 1's and have a good armor save. They are the perfect unit to complement the Tyrants. Maybe the most expensive version 4 BTs or with Skarbrand is better, but if you are looking for a more well rounded list, where you don't have to max out the points on BTs , there are options for you. 2k: Wrath BT of Rage BT of Rage Slaughter Priest Slaughter Priest 4x10 Reavers 10x Skullreapers 5xWrathmongers Tyrants That's 97 wounds of Mortals who can hold objectives and fight other chaff.
  23. Oh so the only way this works is if you have 1 other unit either in combat or eligible to enter it. The rules of combat read, "when it is your turn, you must either pick an eligible unit to fight with, or pass (note that you cannot pass if there is an eligible unit from your army that can fight..." So if you BT's were 6 away and you had no other units, you wouldnt be able to pass, which would mean you would have to pile in. So you need 1 other unit eligible, declare that unit, then after that you can do the above shenanigans. It took me awhile to figure it out so I thought i'd share the info.
  24. If you try out the Goretide Dimensional Blade verison let me know how it goes! On paper, for 250, you can get 6 attacks at 3+ 3+ -3rend 2 dmg and the Lance (on charge) 3 attacks 3+ 3+ -1 Rend 4 dmg and then the mount attacks. For 250 that's insane potential if things go right. The big thing that people shoudn't forget is that he could be on 1 Wound and his 2 melee weapons stay the same. That's a big deal IMO. Unllike BTs and other monsters who get worse.
