  1. That’s a very, let’s say unique way of looking at things. Because while true, that they inherited the most of the old army books, there initially was no effort made to limit bloat. Instead we got Slayers, KO, DoK, Idoneth etc. as new or limited factions on top of the spiritual successors of the old factions (Sylvaneth for WE, Lumineth for HE etc.) Order is just a mess. But that was not my point. I answered to the guy that argued against Aelf-soup because there were 5 Chaos factions. To that I say that Chaos is its own GA with 5 clearly defined factions (and BoC & Skaven, but as long as they remain ignored factions I‘ll do the same here), while the Aelves are part of one hot mess of a GA. And if the Warclans can be souped (and in the case of IJ & KB quite elegantly, RIP Bonesplitters) and rumours point towards dwarf soup, I think it’s pretty obvious we’ll get (and should get!) some Aelf soup as well. Now, personally I‘m ofc not for souping stuff for the sake of it and I also ofc see the danger of the Bonesplitter route. But then again, they never got any new stuff in their AoS time, so the writing was on the wall. I‘m not sure where I would put Deepkin, but Sylvaneth (including the renewed WE), Aelves of Uglu (DoK + Malerion Aelves) & Aelves of Hysh (Lumineth basically) would be a good starting point for the future-proofing. That doesn’t solve the problem of too many factions to reliably renew. And unlike Chaos, the aelves are part of that hot mess called Order. So I expect aelf soup (which my initial answer referred to.
  2. Yeah, but Chaos are their own grand alliance. Counting Chaos you‘d have to count the rest of Order as well and then it’s welcome to bloat city.
  3. Pretty expensive, but also pretty good, these fellas. In the back of my mind there was also an army list that was like 10 points beyond 2k, so these guys might do the trick =D Also, question my fellow git-slavers. One big unit of 20 Gutrippaz & 2 units of 6 Boltboyz each or Two big units of 20 Gutrippaz & 1 bit unit of 9 Bolzboyz? Have we made progress on this important topic?
  4. Realistically though, how many Boltboys do you really need? 6, 9 or 12. So for most people, that’s 1-2 boxes & while expensive still doable. Edit: Don‘t get me wrong, still pretty expensive.
  5. To me, a good list for new players should do something in (almost) every phase of the game & have enough models for a back & forth. Therefore I suggest Kruleboys with a list akin to the following: Allegiance: Kruleboyz - Warclan: Big Yellers - Grand Strategy: Whateve - Triumphs: LEADERS Snatchaboss on Sludgeraker Beast (315)* - General - Command Trait: Egomaniak - Artefact: Mork's Eye Pebble - Mount Trait: Smelly 'Un Swampcalla Shaman with Pot-grot (105)* - Lore of the Swamp: Choking Mist UNITS 10 x Gutrippaz (180)* 3 x Man-skewer Boltboyz (120)* 3 x Man-skewer Boltboyz (120)* ARTILLERY Beast-skewer Killbow (130)* CORE BATTALIONS *Battle Regiment TOTAL: 970/1000 WOUNDS: 57 It has a Monster, a sorcerer, a combat unit with a neat special rule, 2 shooting units (could be unified as one) and one piece of artillery. Kruleboys also have a few tricks up their sleeve which in turn teach timing and the proper use of "one-time-effects".
  6. At that size they‘re all good. I think the Killaboss on foot is a steal for what he provides, but Shaman & Sludgeraker are very synergistic. Maybe the banner is the one I‘d skip for now. So at that size I‘d go for Killaboss on foot &/or a shaman.
  7. I think he presents some really good cases for why we should not overlook Gutrippaz. And why pure Boltboys might be a trap. So yeah, bottom line is that it'll be super interesting where the army ends up in the meta.
  8. Not sure if anyone posted that here, I found it in the IJ thread. So @PlasticCraic thanks a lot for that, I think it‘s a super interesting read. https://plasticcraic.blog/2021/09/24/battletome-orruk-warclans-kruleboyz-with-corey-papinniemi/
  9. I‘m really not sure where to put them, but some trolls might actually look good with the Kruleboys aesthetics. I think I have to get some.
  10. To be fair, that's well, just LRL at this point. Has nothing to do with us or other armies, they're just overdeveloped & an overall lackluster gaming experience (bloated rules etc. I'm not talking effectivity/efficiency. That can be fixed or destroyed via points.)
  11. The Sludgeraker really is the difference here. That's why you'll either see him be the General with Egomaniak or getting the Amulet of Destiny. Once people realize how vital he is, they will throw stuff at him like there is no tomorrow. On the Vulcha, on one hand he's super cheap, but on the other the Gutrippaz need a Killboss close. I've at first ignored both the one on foot and the Gnashtooth and both are growing on me fast. The footslogger with Egomaniac & a shield is super tanky for his points and the Gnashtooth with Smelly 'Un and Egomaniak is even more tanky (or just as tanky against shooting). I can imagine successful Kruleboys lists cutting the Vulcha as they need a Killboss close to the Gutrippaz (and the rest of the army) and the Gnashtooth is 70 points cheaper. Don't get me wrong, I'm not sold on it, but I wouldn't be surprised either.
  12. Gonna try out this list in the coming days. I posted it a few pages back, but never fleshed it out, so here it is in all its glory: Kruleboys, 1500 points Grand Strategy: Hold the Line Triumph: Bloodthirsty Dirty Trick: Whatever floats my boat. ------ Heroes: Killaboss with Stabgrot, 110 Points, General, Trait: Egomaniak Snatchaboss on Sludgeraker, 315 Points, Artefact: Amulet of Destiny, Mount Trait: Mean 'Un Swampcalla Shaman with Pot-Grot, 105 Points, Spell: Choking Mist ------ Battleline: 20 Gutrippas, 360 Points 6 Man-Skewer Boltboyz, 240 Points 6 Man-Skewer Boltboyz, 240 Points ------ Rest: Beast-skewer Killbow, 130 Points Total: 1500 on the point
  13. What I meant was, that outside a tournament setting, where „legal“ actually means something, you should (in my opinion) just try out the sloggoth in KB, as it will most likely be legal in the near future anyway.
  14. It’s not legal „in theory“. It’s almost certain we‘ll see that changed soon.
  15. The "Big Yeller" Clan allows for Boltboys to be Battleline. They're the only clan with a conditional Battleline, though.
  16. This is without a Sludgeraker, right? Anyway, my take is that I feel Kruleboyz as a whole need some kind of anchor to structure around. 20 Gutrippaz feel (feel because I need to test that out) like they could be that unit. But maybe 10 and good positioning will be the proper size. Who knows? I just don't think the army will work properly without fighting units that can move out & do stuff.
  17. I really like the 20 Gutrippaz + 2x6 Boltboys Core in Big Yellers. The other ones would have to play differently and honestly I'm not sure how exactly. Maybe someone will one day boldly field a crawlers army with 3x20 Gutrippaz & 2 sludge rakers, KB on Vulcha etc. and do really well with it and we'll all be like "omg, so obvious!"
  18. I think you nailed it. They pose such a threat to a lot of what‘s meta right now, that taking two isn‘t much of a risk.
  19. The Poison happens on the hit roll. So either you hit and roll for damage normally (round about 3 to maybe 4 dmg vs a 5 wound hero) or you roll poison on the hit roll, in which case it does MW straight away. Here I‘m honestly unsure how the damage is calculated. But is either-or, not both.
  20. I‘ve surely played less than you, but overall got the same impression & frankly I love it. Points and such can be adjusted. But the style is there.
  21. Exactly. I think that reinforces that Kruleboys want to act rather than react or at least react smartly. Kruleboys getting charged are generally speaking in for a world of hurt. But charging and starting the combat phase with three units fighting is a different mattrr.
