Yeah Beastlord with the Gavespawn artefact is a really reliable hero-killer: 12.444 wounds average vs. a hero with rend -1 lets you reliably delete a 3+ save 6 wound hero in one combat phase with 6.222 wounds average after saves. It makes his command ability actually useful, and gives a good reason to activate him first in combat.

I feel like Gors are kind of lacking a niche. Bestigors are just much better at killing stuff and not too much more expensive. And Ungors just seem like better value chaff. Ungors with spears, due to their smaller base size and reach, actually outdamage Gors. Ungors also bring more bodies to the table (good for holding objectives and making mortal wounds less useful), and are much cheaper. The only advantage Gors have is 4+ instead of 5+ save in combat, and slightly higher bravery. This is definitely good vs. high rend, but is it worth 10 extra points for 10 less bodies? I'm not sure yet. And if you are taking small units of Gors for screens....why not just take Centigors? Same cost/wound but better attack profile, much more speed, and extra damage on the charge as well as the ability to buff their accuracy with drinking.

Khorne Battalion gives rerolls of 1's to hit, which improves accuracy by 8.333%.

How do you guys usually arm your Ungors? Spears or blades? I'm planning to run a unit of 40 to keep the reroll bonuses going for at least a little while, so I figure that spears will be more useful since I can get more guys into combat.

I would personally take 40 Raiders; otherwise you lose a single one and your rerolls on 2's are gone, which greatly reduces their effectiveness.

From 40 ambushing Raiders with Brayblast trumpet you should get on average 17.82 wounds before saves: (1-1/3*1/3)*(1/2)*39 + (1-1/6*1/6)*1/2 = 17.81944... Since Prob(Hit)=1-Prob(Miss) and with Brayblast the Raiders miss iff they roll a 1 or 2 followed by another 1 or 2 on the reroll (1/3*1/3 chance). I've had some good luck with Raiders using the Brayblast trumpet buff so far. Definitely effective for softening up opponents for the Bestigors' ambush charge.

Could you explain what WDR is, please?

I've found Raiders pretty effective, personally, especially when ambushing with the brayblast trumpet. In a block of 40 they deal 13.444... wounds (before saves), or 17.82 (before saves) when ambushing with the Brayblast trumpet. Good for softening up a target for my Bestigors. With our new abilities that drop saves, they should be even more effective than before.

Possibly dumb rule question: when ambushing, do all of my units have to come on from the same board edge? Or can some units enter from one board edge, and others from another edge?

They are supposed to be going to Khorne and Tzeentch, respectively IIRC.

Yeah Shaggoth seems really good! It's all Ogor now.

I believe you can; that's what Rhu (I can't remember his name) claimed in the Beasts of Chaos Twitch stream. He said that the marked battalions would not take up ally points.

Nice! Do you happen to know if the command ability can be used in the combat phase?

Brayblast Trumpet adds +1 to hit though.

In the https://war-of-sigmar.herokuapp.com/bloggings/3268 they mention 4 attacks per Bestigor when charging. Any idea where those numbers are coming from?

It's actually 1 MW per wound allocated on a 4+ now.

I noticed in the stream that when the Jabberslythe took 12 wounds from the Ghorgon, he rolled 12 dice to check for spurting blood, even though Jabber has only 10 wounds. Is this the correct ruling? That's the way I interpreted it, so it seems like I'm not the only one. I figured I should check since I would like to use him in a tournament soon. Also, now Jabber's tongue does d3 wounds, and he no longer has a degrading monster profile! Even more reason to use him recklessly.

I'm guessing it'll be tomorrow instead to build hype for preorders.

Yeah I kind of doubt we'll get anything in the Battletome, but maybe if it sells well and proves popular enough we might get a model in a year or so.

Wildfire Taurus explanation from the Beasts of Chaos fb page by someone who watched the twitter stream: Makes me excited that the Beastlord might actually be good after all! This endless spell sounds amazing.

Given that they discussed the Gavespawn Greatfray that worships Morghur in the twitter stream, do you guys think we'll see a Morghur model at some point? He could make a really cool centrepiece hero (which GW seems to love) if they make him super huge and mutated.

I mean do we know if KHORNE will be an ally option for Beasts of Chaos? I'd prefer to do BoC allegiance rather than KHORNE.

Do we know yet if we will be able to ally in Khorne units like the Bloodsecrator to buff the Khorne Battalion?
