  1. Durthu having a 5+ ward save and always in WW if close to the Lady for +2 attacks would be great. Very curious to see what his new warscroll looks like.
  2. Yeah, I admit it's a stretch. Just too many other better things for the points.
  3. The 3+ save is great, but with a base 4+ to hit and -1 rend I'm uncertain of how useful they will be. A unit of three sniping from a backfield objective isn't a bad option but if forces you to burn a CP for a decent chance to hit. Maybe if arch-revenants ability is expanded to give +1 to shooting or melee. A unit of 3 with 9 shots re-rolling 1's wouldn't be bad.
  4. Some photos of my very work in progress army. Wanted to go with a swampy/Halloween theme.
  5. I wondered about that. So Hunters act as kind of a "hot-spot" for command abilities? For example, if a unit of Dryads wholly within 12" of a unit of Hunters needed to re-roll a charge, a hero somewhere on the battlefield could burn a CP and the Dryads could make the re-roll since they are in the Envoy "bubble?" If so that's pretty cool.
  6. I want to make sure I've got Envoy of the Everqueen right. You could, for example, teleport a pod of 6 scythe Kurnoth Hunters (say using Dreadwood ) and have an Arch-Revenant on the other side of the board buff them with Call to Battle because they are always treated as being within 12" of the Revenant due to Envoy, correct?
  7. True, the Arch-Rev is really good for hunters and the battalion is expensive for what you get (extra artefact and CP, basically).
  8. How about a Drycha/Durthu tag team? Add a wraith, 3 10x Dryads, 1 5x Tree Revenants, 6 Scythe hunters, 6 greatsword hunters and the free folk battalion?
  9. Yeah, your not wrong. Drycha seems like a more reliable beatstick.
  10. My initial build will be a Hunter-heavy Winterleaf army (love the Hunter models) but Dreadwood and Harvestboon are really interesting glades as well.
  11. Ah, Malign Sorcery (endless spells only). Got it. And Derpthu? Really? I just got mine painted!😂
  12. Thanks, I like the Crown idea. I was unaware Ghyrstrike isn't an option for matched play (I'm really new to the faction and AoS in general). I did a little looking...so the Malign Portent artefacts are not legal in matched play but the endless spells in Malign Sorcery are?
  13. Has anyone tried using Lifewreath on Durthu coupled with Regrowth to help keep him in his upper brackets? I haven't seen any mention in the earlier posts I've read so I suspect the benefit just isn't good enough to offset other artefacts like the Staff or Ghyrstrike.
  14. Or maybe an Arch Revenant to buff your hunters?
  15. Yeah, I've seen that battalion mentioned. Is it good mostly for the reduced drops and extra CP/artefact because the ability seem kinda meh (unless I'm missing something). Are your bows units of 3 to maximize target flexibility?
  16. Thanks! I had a feeling that might be the case. Is the auto 6" run (+ the extra CP and artifact) considered to be good enough to justify the cost of the battalion? It does reduce the number of drops but if I run a 4th unit of Kurnoth (I was thinking 2x 3 greatsword, 1x 6 scythe and 1x 3 bow) but when I add a branchwraith, Arch-Revenant (or 2 since I have so many Kurnoth Hunters) and three battleline units I'm not sure how much it helps.
  17. Hello! New Sylvaneth player here. I've picked up some models for Warcry and want to expand to a full army. I realize they are not the most competitive these days but I've always loved the models and have worked up a swampy Halloween-themed paint scheme I'm pretty happy with. As I was looking through the battletome and model range I was really drawn to Durthu and the Kurnoth Hunters which , from what I've read, are pretty solid units. This naturally got me interested in the Free Spirits battalion but I had a question about the ability. The book says that instead of making a run roll add 6" to the Move characteristic of the unit. Does that 6" still count as a Run or is it still a Move meaning the unit can charge afterwards? Thanks, velocitydog
  18. Wow. I don't know what happened but appreciate y'all straightening me out. Thanks.
  19. Thanks Sesom. Why in the world did I think a regular sorcerer could do this? I have written down in some old notes "casting value 6, summon 10 bloodletters within 16" of caster, 9" away from enemy, summon 20 on a roll of 11+". I am seriously confused as to where this came from.
  20. Hi all. It's been awhile since I've had a chance to play my S2D and I had a couple general questions. First, aside from the Battletome, are there any other books I need to get myself up to speed with recent changes to the list? Second, I could have sworn that at one point Chaos Sorcerer Lords could summon pod of 10 lesser demons instead of casting a spell in the hero phase. Was this ever a thing? Was it a thing that got changed? Am I completely out of my mind (would NOT surprise me in the slightest)? Thanks, velocitydog
  21. Thanks! I've played a couple games with borrowed warbands and I find it a lot of fun. I assume this means I can finish a move, target an enemy with the charge and then go after that same enemy with an attack action as well?
  22. Howdy, just getting into Warcry and I'm trying our Khorne demons (love the models). I'm running Bloodhunter, Bloodcrusher (really, really love the crusher models), Gore Hound (since it's no longer a leader) and 6 Bloodletters as a first try. I was reading the abilities and am confused by the wording of Murderous Charge. It says "if the fighter finishes a move within 1" of an enemy fighter, pick a visible enemy fighter within 1" of the fighter" (I think I have the wording right). For the part where you "pick a visible enemy fighter" does it have to be within 1" of the Bloodcrusher or within 1" of the enemy fighter. In other words, which of the two fighters does the ability refer to when it says within "1" of the fighter? Thanks! velocitydog
  23. Yeah, I wasn't clear. I indicated four attacks assuming there was another random unit engaged in combat but should have specified.
  24. I think it works as follows. I charge a unit with two demon princes and Lord against a unit that's already engaged with a unit of my knights. The DP's (because they're DP's) and Lord (Helm) go first and then I would get to select my first "normal" unit ( nights) of the combat. Without DP's and Lord charging I'd just get to go with the knights.
