  1. It is, that does not stop them from getting ever more greedy though (proof are the constant price hikes for no reason but profit) @Malakithe I am not certain our community is that small anymore. However we have a reputation to swallow whatever prices and monetization methods GW tosses at us, often even defending it or at least not changing our consumption habits due to it. (Very inflexible market)
  2. Mixed feelings. The good first: Tournament Play is its own thing, that’s a win. The bad: Smells like what Wizards of the coast tried with DnD recently.
  3. One could copy and paste boarding actions to AoS. Possible environments: - Dungeons - Mines - Sewers - The inside of a giant Fish/Whale - The inside if a (Sky-) Ship - Any kind of big Building (a castle with courtyard and all) Simple rule changes: 750 Points (since AoS units cost more points in general) No Battalions, grand Strategies and Strategems, Command Traits and Artifacts. Only visible models can be killed (melee, range and magic) vision is blocked by models from other units everything (auras as well) need vision to units that are supposed to be affected. Only three generic command abilities: - Run 6“, All out Attack, Pass morale check for 2CP - No monsters, no mounted units, no Units of the size of a Troll or larger. No flying units. - Copy paste the actions rule to AoS for opening doors maximum of 7 units overall. Units can’t be larger than 10 Models (unless the starting size is larger). During set up such units have to be split into 2x5. (Or 2x10) Now get crazy with creating cool missions and you’ll have a blast!
  4. Regiments of renown aka mercenaries. keep your bait GW, we know they won’t be useable within 6 months.
  5. Absolutely the same issue with MWs in general. A Hellpit abomination Tokio-Drifting into my 30 Witch aelves (me not knowing about its ability). Dealing 30 mortal wounds. 10 Gossamid Archers inflicting 13 Mortal wounds with one volley removing my elite unit My Snakes rolling hot: 8x6s removing the enemy hero It's just too much and it has been for a while. It has basically divolved to: This unit can hit very hard with a Stick: 6s to hit are mortal wounds This unit has thorns! 6s to hit are mortal wounds This unit breathes: 6s to hit are D3 mortal wounds If the unit casts "even deeper breaths" onto itself it deals MWs on a 5+! cotton wo... SAY NO MORE: 6s to hit are mortal WOUNDS and the unit get 60 attacks pre buffs! With all this Mortalwound-ality the game has become more like chess than ever: "Piece A removes piece B after movement". Aside from MWs: Games can take longer. I can only echo that painting up my models takes ages. Seeing them removed before my turn even starts due to some spell or whatever kills the fun for me right away. Another point is pick-up-games. I had my best friend visit me for my birthday. While talking about games we had in the past I realized that we used to have stories and names for our characters, armies and why they clashed - it was engaging and fun (fun fact: White Dwarves used to have battle reports like that too!) Then I realized why I burned out of AoS (and I am still burned out): Games have become a meaningless rolling of dice, stacked with completely senseless Battle Tactics and Grand Strategies. -> Why am I supposed to sprint across the map now? And then I need to hold three magical scoring points and kill a unit- WHY!? How is this relevant to anything? The game has gradually been pushed towards competetive play and it has lost itself along the way (imo), it has become utterly replacable by any other game that actually offers some narrative. As I've mentioned in another thread: I am currently leading a boarding actions league for my pupils. Since the interest was moderate I integrated a story and the applications numbers doubled. (pupils have to apply for attendance so we can estimate how much we have to prepare for said evening) ---> I'll try to get back into AoS by making games actual narratives again. I only have to find someone who is interested in this kind of play as well (this doesn't mean any player has to field weak lists or anything) Concerning what @Vasshpit said: I agree, they could even make them more faction specific to reflect the quality of wargear a faction has at its deposal by simply adding two Pages of wargear and its rules to each battletome. It's still bothering me that Blood Knights lances lost 1" reach for no reason other than the profile being combined with swords? Some lances granting +1 dmg and an additional rend on the charge whilers grant +1 to wound? It's so weird and incoherent (especially to new players)
  6. Speed, armourpenetration and lots of dmg 1 attacks imo
  7. I don’t have the rules for KT myself. It’s already hard enough to teach them 40K (which is more versatile imo)
  8. I am currently running a boarding actions league. Yet my pupils can’t afford GW‘s nonsense. So I ended up buying old models from gaming clubs and from my friends. This way they can participate in the narrative without having to spent a cent. But wait, isn’t GW‘s marketing trying to get people at the age of 12+ into the game? My pupils are 16-26 - no chance they’ll ever buy a GW box. It‘s like Peachy said in an interview: At some point it’s a hobby for the rich. First signs are showing: Ebay in Germany is almost dead compared to 2019 when it comes to Warhammer. I‘ve put up my Nighthaunt on ebay yesterday putting them in packages of 2x Infantry units + 1 Hero. I used the 15-20% discount prices of online shops and put them online with another 15% off. Looking at the prices: It’s still ludacris! also
  9. So? They operate at absurd margins, they don’t make less money, the money‘s worth is less. Also: Increasing prices during an inflation (usually a bigger increase than the inflation rate) makes inflation worse. This is greed, that’s it.
  10. They are famous to give a s about their employees (underpaying as a standard). We pay more so some inheritor of a fortune can even make more money. Once a company is publicly traded it‚s going downhill for everyone and everything around it except the shareholders and dome managers.
  11. I somewhat disagree. The story was vastly watered down by long, unnecessary deep dives into the inner workings of a theater and the art of acting in a drama. At least it was somewhat educational, for most of the time it was quite boring though. Reading it was like walking through a big puddle of tar: really pertinacious and taxing, yet in the end somewhat (and weirdly) satisfying.
  12. I would not have minded if 40K moved to a Warcry-Style of hitting although that system has weaknesses (I‘ve been tabled within a turn more than once since my opponents roll only 5+ it seems) - the current 40K system is less spiky since more rolls are required (one might argue though to what extend that’s true: Looking at you hits and wound on 2+ with rend of a gazillion)
  13. Do you remember which old kits? (Monsters and flying Pterodactyls I assume?)
  14. I am late to the party, yet: KROXIGORS CONFIRMED
  15. It might be a design issue with DoK in general - it really seems like they’re out of ideas at this point
  16. Compare the Saurus to a normal human infantry (Witch aelves, Freeguild guard etc.) and they’re twice the mass, at least.
  17. Looking at the Saurus again I am very happy with all the sculpts. Since my GF passively collects an army I might have to sell her old warriors and later on restock her army with the new sculpts ❤️ Now let's hope the new Seraphon battletome doesn't devolve into the third shooting-fest in a row (the army should be magic and melee. Not shooting and magic)
  18. It's a matter of taste. I am happy you like them! 🙂
  19. Review: Seraphon: Super nice. It's apparently not even half of all the new models Underworlds: Same old same old. Not interested at all - they really need to come up with something creative for Daughters Bloodhunt: The Khorne warband is fine. The Vampire models are the opposite of what I wanted to see, I really dislike the weirdly proportioned asian style that is way too busy - looks like a vampire clown warband with a malformed Dog-Transformation Heresy: A tank. Kill Team: The Guards are fine yet too busy. The Drukhari have one interesting head, the rest is boring. Cool Art, bad Drukhari models imo 40K Marines: The Cyborg is fine. The heavy Marines look really bad. Neutral on the Lieutenant. It's cool that he's modular I guess. Vash'Tor Box: Well. I like Vash'tors model, yet pretty much nothing else in that box floats my boat (are those old Terminators? Excuse me?)
  20. Sorry for the off-topic question: I am trying to get a boarding actions league rolling with my pupils (there's 0 interest in AoS for some reason?) So I was wondering if there are fandmade Datasheets/Warscrolls out there (like an Intercessor Stat for example) since putting together all the information a new player would need to just get going is really tedious. All I could find were outdated of fanmade datasheets Cheers
