  1. Is there any place for any of the slaves to darkness units at the moment or is everything that's khorne bloodbound strictly better?
  2. I'm calling the Chaos Commissar. You're a heretic to Khorne.
  3. To be fair I don't build hyper competitive kick your teeth in lists either, I was trying to pioneer Bloodsecrator-less and mobile forces and the Skulltake Battalion before this book... I do try to min/max my ideas though. I don't want a poorly thought out or stupid list or one that is sloppy and doesn't at least take some advantage of the things given in the book. I've always liked Skullreapers and Khorgoraths and Blood Warriors, I don't like Bloodletters, Bloodcrushers or the Flesh Hounds. I don't own any and I've never used summoning, just the normal blood tithe table. However I was finally hoping with this book I might have a really good reason to use my favorite Bloodthirster(s) but now I'm still not sure if I could/should? Skulltake Battalion with a headliner like Skarbrand would be awesome, but it sounds overly complicated and fiddly now
  4. Yeah but then I have to choose either a Daemon-focused Slaughterhost for like 1/3rd of my army and my mortals get nothing or one that focuses on my mortals and does nothing for Skarbrand or the other BT's.
  5. Well I guess my decision is kind of made for me. I have 1 IR BT, Skarbrand and wanted a 3rd BT but I have no other demons at all. However I have loads and loads and loads of mortals so...I guess I should focus on a mortals list 🤷‍♂️
  6. What I mean is are they encouraged to intermix or to segregate? Like is Nurgle encouraged to be Nurgle Daemons only, or Nurgle Mortals only or any mixture of both with rules giving blanket benefits to everything? Same for Tzeentch etc.
  7. Well that sucks. That literally encourages you to fully commit to either wholly demons or wholly mortals and to not really mix and match. Or I suppose you pick a Slaughterhost for one and a Battalion to support the other or something? Is it better to mix and match or double down on mono-strengths now? I feel like the old book encouraged mixing and matching army types with mortals and demons fighting side by side. Stormcast doesn't have to worry about that because everything is the same thing, but mortals and daemons are clearly different. What are the other big 4 chaos god books like?
  8. If a model already has a Slaughterhost keyword, it cannot gain another one, BUT this does not prevent other units in your army from having a different Slaughterhost keyword. How does it not imply that?
  9. Sigh. Obviously dude. That's super obvious. However, and while it's not literally quoting the rules, as Bululu said, "first it says select a host all your army gets that host keyword, but on next paragraph it says, a unit cant have more than 1 host, but this doesnt prevent for having units with different host in your army" this implies you can designate certain parts of your army a ONE type of Warhost or w/e they're called so you would specifically say "My bloodthirsters are Reapers of Vengeance" and then, in addition to, you can designate the OTHER half of your army (mortals) as Skullfiend Tribe and you get benefits for both mortals and daemons. They are mutually exclusive as per the wording, but also able to exist simultaneously in the same list. You can't however have Reapers of Vengeance mortals (10 BloodWarriors, 20 bloodreavers, 5 skullreapers and a slaughterpriest) who are ALSO Skullfiend. They can't be both. Hence the ability to designate and compartmentalize.
  10. It doesn't but Reapers of Vengenace specifically mentions Daemons only and Skullfiend/Goretide specifically mentions mortals/bloodbound only. Ergo it would be smart to basically, for lack of a better concept, make "Detachments" like in 40k to separate them so you aren't overwriting your mortals with keywords they get no benefit from.
  11. Basically you select a host: relevant models in your army get that keyword. So pick Reapers of Vengeance. Your 1,2,3,4 bloodthirsters get that keyword. Those are the units. Now you select a second host (Goretide), and the mortals in your army get THAT keyword. Bloodthirster can't be Goretide and Blood Warriors can't be Reapers of Vengeance, but there you have it, two different warhosts.
  12. One thing to note is what compliments Bloodthirsters best? Which troops to bring? Bloodletters, Hounds, Warriors, or Reavers? Other daemon HQs or mortals? What synergises best with Bloodthirsters as far as "other' units goes, battalions, battleline, etc? This is something I've been looking at by reading the warscrolls over multiple times. I can't see that running other/more demons has anymore benefit except by virtue of existing in say a Reapers of Vengeance list. Mortals get nothing but c'est la vie.
  13. I thought part of what made WoK so good was his ability to unbind? or was that just bonus?
  14. I've been wanting 3 Bloodthirsters for the longest time (Wrath of Khorne, Insensate Rage and SKARBRAND), but do I now need 4 to run anything viable? I love Bloodthirsters, but I feel like if I run 4 I literally don't have much more of an army. It feels like they're all or nothing though, you either commit to all of them, or run none. 1 BT will probably die too quick and then you just have a slightly weaker normal army with some points that could have gone elsewhere. IDK.
  15. What are nurgle marauders? lol Are nurgle marauders hard to kill or were you being sarcastic? Oh also there's 4 attacks with the mutant hand which has -1 rend and D3 damage
  16. Now that I think on it, I may drop a unit of Skullreapers and a Khorgorath to add a unit of Wrathmongers and a Warshrine for the 6+ save, another blessing (resanguination?) and of course the ability to pray to re-roll all failed hit rolls to a unit of my choosing (Skullreapers versus any unit of 4 or less I reckon?). A fully buffed Skullreaper unit of 5 would be an absolute nightmare. Bloodstoker grants re-rolling all wounds, between the Shrine and 5+ units they are fighting re-rolling all hits, Warshrine 6+ Feel No Pain save, Slaughterpriest +1 to hit blessing, Slaughterpriest +1 to save blessing, Bloodsecrator, Wrathmonger and Aspiring Champion add +3 attacks for 7 attacks per man total for 35 attacks, natural 6's do mortal wounds on hit rolls, natural 6's do double damage on wounds rolls, battleshock immune bloodthirsty berzerkers who do mortal wounds if they die. I imagine they could destroy just about any unit in the game.
  17. Skullreapers are innately immune to battleshock. The only units that will need to take it are the Blood Warriors and Bloodreavers. I could replace aspiring champion for a skullgrinder to give +1 to bravery, but Khorogoraths are 1 unit by themselves so when they die they die they don't do battleshock and the rest are heroes.
  18. The battalion has gone down 50 points so it's a wash. It's the same points 880 overall, however what's interesting is that is IS cheaper if I didn't max out the battalion, which may or may not be worth doing now considering some things have changed in the wording. Essentially the incentive before was that if you had a full battalion /everyone/ in the battalion got the benefit of adding 1 to their damage characteristic if they rolled a 6 or more (now it's just unmodified) and were within 12'' of the bloodstoker. So that meant Khorgoraths and Blood Warriors/Reavers too. Now it does not do that. In addition it lost the extra 3 attacks to Khorgoraths. It may be worth it dropping a Khorgorath and unit of Skullreapers to bring Wrathmongers for more buffs or something.
  19. I am interested in the Bloodman Warband because the effects remind me of the Butcher's Nails Legion trait for World Eaters, but unfortunately it doesn't effect ALL units like the Butcher's Nails do.
  20. I think for now this will be the list I run with going with the Skullfiend Tribe perk: Allegiance: KhorneLeadersMighty Lord of Khorne (120)- General- Artefact: Gorecleaver Bloodsecrator (140)Bloodstoker (80)Slaughterpriest (100)- Blood Blessing: Bronzed FleshSlaughterpriest with Hackblade and Wrathhammer (100)- Blood Blessing: Killing FrenzyAspiring Deathbringer (80)- Bloodaxe and Wrath HammerBattleline10 x Blood Warriors (200)- Goreaxes- 1x Goreglaives10 x Blood Warriors (200)- Goreaxes- 1x Goreglaives10 x Bloodreavers (70)- Meatripper AxesUnits5 x Skullreapers (170)- Goreslick Blades5 x Skullreapers (170)- Daemonblades- 1x Soultearers5 x Skullreapers (170)- Daemonblades- 1x Soultearers1 x Khorgoraths (90)1 x Khorgoraths (90)BattalionsSkulltake (190)Total: 1970 / 2000Extra Command Points: 1Allies: 0 / 400Wounds: 144
  21. It would be ideal to build a list with Skarbrand as my centerpiece but since I don't have any other demons (Bloodmaster, Skullmaster, Skulltaker, Blood Throne, etc...) I have no way to buff other demons or any demonic support. I just have hordes of mortals and Skarbrand and an Insensate Rage Bloodthirster. I planned on getting a 3rd bloodthirster at some point. I just don't know what little demons are worth having or using or how to mix them in with the people part of the army.
  22. One problem I see is that the Bloodstoker got really nerfed, so he can no longer whip KHORNE units, only KHORNE MORTALS, so he can't whip the Khorgorath or even Bloodthirsters any longer. I can't figure out how to build a cohesive mixed army, or a mostly mortal army with any synergy with a BT other than just shoving it in there by itself as a stand alone thing.
  23. Are we not a good melee army? What are we if not that?
