  1. Interesting points! For some reason I had come to believe those Rocket Batteries were quite good. Perhaps it’s enough to snipe a key hero in the first phase though, like a Lord of Change for that Changehost list? They’ve only got a 4+ save and no FNP. I guess I like the idea of the threat turn 1 that can apply constant pressure and must be dealt with? I had brought the Hammerers for when they inevitably get into melee as I know Hammerers are absolutely BRUTAL even just 10 of them! i took Drillmaster for the sake of my Irondrakes as well and really any of my ranged components.... it felt nice to sort of... have that reliability without needing to spend CP for it. From what it sounds like Artillery lists are weak and I’d be better suited just dropping them and the battalion and bringing more Dwarves? What about the Stormcast Eternal Ballistae? Are they any better? ive really never played Dwarves but I was attempting to go into their strengths which I had believed were good saves, strong shooting, very long range threats (artillery) and basically don’t run from battleshock so you can wear people down before they get to you (which if they just ignore you you’ll just kill everything even if slowly between the Irondrakes and Artillery). Also a bit of magic for protection (Mystic Shield) and a source of the ever desirable mortal wounds. You believe the 700 points could be better spent on... more Ironbreakers, Irondrakes and Hammerers then with more magic? At which point why run Greywater Fastness? I thought the entire point of the city was Artillery? Why wouldn’t I run like Living City to get in on the board edge or tempest eye?
  2. I've been looking very hard at Scribor Dwarves and I like many of them. I'm in a debate between official GW Irondrakes and GW Hammerers (I know what I want from Scribor for Ironbreakers and Longbeards) but I'm not sure which way I want to go. Any other options for Dwarves with huge 2-handed hammers and/or Dwarves with huge guns? Thanks!
  3. Curious about how you find this particular list. I plan on essentially running all 3rd party miniatures to put this army together including conversions on the Hurricanum to be pulled by bears over horses and replacing the wizards with dwarves. In addition to running bear cannons instead of Helstrom Rocket Battery models. So before I spend about $650....how does it look? 4. Is there any really relevant lore to the Dispossessed in AOS? I was inspired by the guy who made his own army lore earlier in the thread but I'm not sure where to draw from or even where Dwarves live per se. I've been looking at using Scribor Miniatures for the furred cloaks and bears and something like an Arctic, Snowy Mountain, Thunder Dwarf (Celestar Hurricanum with Dwarf Runepriests on it channeling Lightning/Thunder) theme. Snowy polar bears, white fur cloaks, nordic viking dwarf theme but I'm not sure how to write that story to fit into AOS or Cities of Sigmar, especially since I want to run the Greywater Fastness rules.
  5. Where do you find "dwarf crew" because I've been thinking about starting Cities of Sigmar with Dwarves and those rocket launchers and that's exactly what I wanted to do. I don't want humans in my army, it's supposed to be all dwarves. With fightin and shootin.
  6. I do have a Megaboss on Maw-Krusha... 2 actually. 1 fully built and one I got to sub assemble paint. I gotta get through a couple more ArdBoyz, Warchanters, Gore-Gruntas and Brutes first before I work on him
  7. Wow so I can put the pressure on and the closer they come the deadlier it gets assuming they have no teleportation magic (which is why I need to keep people back to protect the guns). im wondering how to play objectives though haha.
  8. I’m looking into a Greywater Fastness with pretty much all Dwarves (Dispossessed I guess) using the battalion. 1) Does the Lord Ordinator buff the Helstrom Rocket Battery? 2) Which is better or more efficient or the best strategy: 2 Celestar Ballistae and 2 Helstrom Rocket Battery or just 4 Helstrom Rocket Battery? i can’t seem to find average damage or any way to math hammer Celestar Ballistae. Im thinking between them and Irondrakes I’ll have a nasty shooting phase and hammerers honestly seem like they destroy in the melee phase so 2 out of 3 phases bringing the pain seems pretty good, especially because I can weaken unit from afar so my Hammerers can finish them off. Thoughts?
  9. Most know the Gouged Eye for their performance on the Blood Bowl pitch... however whenever they’re not beating people up on the field, they’re out raiding to get new recruits!
  10. Less of a “pile of shame” and more of a to-do I’ve gotten started on 5 of the ArdBoyz from that Start Collecting! And I’ve sub assemble built the Warchanter and the other 5 ArdBoyz. honestly laying it out like this.... is incredibly encouraging! I’ve not got too much left to go I’m just a slow painter lmao
  11. I do this too. Er, rather, I'm incredibly neurotic about everything and restart armies I've already got to "do it right", and also a lesson learned. Story time: I already had 50 ArdBoyz, 25 Brutes, 9 Gore-Gruntas, 3 Warchantas, 4 Weirdknob Shaman, 1 Megaboss on Foot and 1 Megaboss on Maw-Krusha. All fully built, none of them painted. I decided to rebuy 3 Start Collecting! Boxes, a Megaboss on Foot, a Maw-Krusha, and a box of brutes. I've sub assemble built and painted 1 Start Collecting! box. I play with Ironjawz army I already built...but I'll never paint it. My painting project is my "perfect" Ironjawz army, one box at a time. Very meticulous, very careful. TBH i don't know what to do with my already built unpainted army. I guess...paint them. But they'll be worse. I won't be able to be as detailed. This really bothers me. I also have about 10,000 points of unpainted Khorne and I really don't know what to do about it I built some of them in ways making a good paint job almost impossible... Then I restarted my entire World Eaters army. I started with 3 boxes of regular Khorne Berzerkers and several Start Collecting! Space marines for the Helbrutes and such, Chaos Terminator Lords, Rhinos, everything. I then neurotically decided it must be "official" World Eaters and I've rebought the ENTIRE army using normal Chaos Space Marines, and ForgeWorld Chainaxe upgrade kits, World Eaters Conversion kits on all custom made Berzerkers, Rhino doors (World Eaters Rhino Conversion), even world eaters conversion kits for the guys who stick out of the rhinos to man the Combi-Bolters. I'm replacing my Helbrutes with World Eaters Legion Contemptor Dreadnoughts in order to "count as" because it has the Legion emblem. I've rebought and redone my Chaos Terminator Lord, and plan to re-do my Warp talons with conversion kits too. I just re-buy and sub-assemble paint and go 1 box at a time while using the unpainted but fully built stuff as my "play army" until one day I bring out the fully painted glory and shock everybody.
  12. Might that fall under a Psychic Awakening supplement? In 40k they just added some extra rules to factions which helped shuffle around the meta and breathed new life into some factions, like Chaos Space Marines, but didn't come out with new full on Codexes.
  13. Aside from the new armies (SoB and Lumineth) is there any other faction that needs a battletome in AOS? Or has everyone been caught up? If everyone has a battletome and AOS 2.0 is "settled"...what happens now? AOS 3.0? Updating or filling out armies? Psychic Awakening style supplements? I kind of never thought I'd see the day tbh. It felt like Battletomes were just coming out regularly. It sort of feels like AOS is "done" for now?
  14. Meanwhile my 40k army is World Eaters and my Orruk army is Bloodtoofs so basically everything is red. All across the board.
  15. lol the 4 beast in mists of pandaria (World of Warcraft expansion based on chinese mythology) were an OX (Cow), Dragon, Crane and Tiger Sounds like Aelves already had a dragon, lion and phoenix...so it's not that different and again they seem to be chinese inspired or something? Just kind of making a joke.
  16. Water. Earth. Fire. Air. My grandmother used to tell me stories about the old days, a time of peace when the High Aelves kept balance between the Water Tribes, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation, and Air Nomads. But that all changed when the Fire Nation attacked...
  17. I wonder if the other 3 Mythical Beasts will be a Lion/Tiger, Crane and Dragon....
  18. If you want realistic Warhammer is not for you. The Doomdiver catapult from the old world literally flung GOBLINS with HANG GLIDERS into suicide missions into the enemy. In 40k Warhammer they have a GUN that SHOOTS goblins ON PURPOSE. Not to mention everything squigs. Literally, they take a goblin. Put him with a pair of hang-glider wings. Put him in a catapult. Shoot him into the enemy. For fun. That's just Orruks/Orks. There's so much other crazy and weird stuff. Chainswords/Chainaxes probably don't work, Powerfists are silly, Lighting Claws is because somebody liked Wolverine from X-Men plus Lightsabers from Star Wars. Etc.. FFS Warhammer 40k has Space Elf Murder Clowns Also one of the Dwarven Kings rides a giant throne around. Like a car. Except it's a giant heavy stone chair. I don't even know how it floats or moves or whatever.
  19. I met my goal of the month just last night! I had planned to finish a start collecting box’s worth of models and so I did. 10 ArdBoyz, 3 Gore-Gruntas and a Megaboss. The plan for April is hopefully the same but this time a Warchanter to be a true Start Collecting! Box.
  20. Fulgrim is a snake monster man in 40k too. Not a bovine one. Closest thing might be a "naga" from Warcraft or Japanese myth.
  21. The hardest part for me has been getting *started* painting, but once I do I find myself in a groove and it's smooth sailing. The way I did my Start Collecting box was I built 5 Ardboyz. I painted 5 Ardboyz. I then some-what built 1 Gore-Grunta. I sub assemble painted it and put it together. I then did the next Gore-Grunta. Then the next. Then I did 5 more Ardboyz. Now I'm doing a Megaboss on Foot. After that it's 5 more Ardboyz. Then a Warchanter is planned after that. etc.. I hate painting rank n file normal infantry, but I "reward" myself with bigger cool models and heroes, the individuals I really enjoy painting and putting a lot of time and detail into. Before long I'll have all my Infantry done for my Ironjawz interspersed with having done all the heroes too.
  22. It will be interesting to see how the ForgeWorld models, like for instance World Eaters Legion Contemptor Dreadnought or the Hellforged Dreadclaw Drop Pod rules change when re-visited by the 40k team. I think AoS rules bleed into 40k rules and both games have become very consistent in wording. The language is becoming more precise and "the same" across their own selves and even each other.
  23. I have been working on an Ironjawz Start Collecting! Box since February 14th and I am almost finished. I subbed in a megaboss for the Warchanter in my painting order, but I got all 10 Ardboyz done and 3 Gore-Gruntas. Then I gotta do it again I am so close to reaching my goal of being finished by end of March and my Megaboss just needs to be layered and edge highlighted.
