  1. Orcs mainly live in ghur the most "savage" part of the mortal realms. They hunt monsters but bonesplitters go so native by waagh energy that the more "normal" warclans kick them out or they leave. In my opinion overall they're fine in both worlds, but if you really want to see GW's weird past look up pygmies. Considering you know your stuff I'm sure you know what they are.
  2. But they still have the very "tribal" elements that are essentially "racist" anyway. So what does it matter with the setting change? They haven't changed in attitude and culture really when it comes to AOS. I know I wrote their lexicanum page.
  3. Well I never had a problem with it myself. Orcs who simply go back to the old ways. If the old ways was body paint abd being half naked along with almost a cockney accent. That's neat. Cause if they are now racist should they be removed from total war warhammer? Should they no longer be shown in any fantasy related media? Cause he also mentioned Bonespiltters which is AOS. PS I don't consider them racist, same with ogres.
  4. And? They're tribal orcs. They look the part and I love whazzag, I think he is a cool character. I don't want to go down this rabbit hole. I just find his comment concerning.
  5. I was agreeing with your post until this part. I hope GW never take note of this when it comes to making new models for the faction. So you see orcs as black people instead of largely football hooligans? You also see orcs as disrespecting african people in a setting where you can actually be a black man or woman.
  6. Anyway I'm going to apologise I got heated. Since I feel certain talking points in this thread stifiles success in the very people they want to see.
  7. Why does the status quo doesn't change because many black people believe they can't be succesful. Because most live in broken enviroments, surrounded by crime and violence. Which leads to criminal records and dead careers. Also writers and designers should not be forced to inlcude anything if they don't want to.
  8. Nope, that's basically what you said. When I walked in a gamesworkshop over 10+ years ago. I didn't think "hey where are x?" I saw walking rat people and went, hey that's pretty cool and got started on my first fantasy army. Largely in my eyes community is not keeping people away. I can list the reasons why but my post would go on for a long time and it would veer off topic. That last post also fuels the mentality for people not to try and be succesful because of x. I live in a family where my brother got beaten almost half to death because of what goes on in OUR community. When he deicded to pull his socks up and get serious he is now a network engineer.
  9. You're trying to divert from your point. My point stands. Because you got caught out. Merit should decide, talent should decide. Denzel Washington(who is black) said this, a host of white writers pushed me to write. There are other reasons why you don't see more minorties. I won't say why due to the mod notice.
  10. Right, so since I am black person shouldn't write white people because I have limited ideas about white people?
  11. So are you trying to say that I don't want female models? The point I'm making is designing something just tick something off the list stifiles creativity. I went through a large episode in the past trying to make sure I have xyz in my own stories. Until one day thanks to my job I get to talk with a lot of people and the females literally had to whisper to me that they are tired of reading about the "mordern day woman." Soon as I put aside my concerns and I was more honest with myself I saw an improvement. The problem I have is how do you quantify, what is the image of the "strong" female? According to some DOK don't count, neither does the female stormcast or the sylvaneth. I don't know what goes through the heads of the people who make the models. But I think they put their creativity first over whatever label people make in this thread and I see that in those two female GSC models. Hence why they are so good. Heck, I actually think GW misses the mark sometimes with female models, but that's my opinion. My problem in the thread is thus, the designers don't have to do anything. Because their creativity decides what we get. And its up to us whether we buy it or not. And I'm concerned that people want certain factions changed because it doesn't fit their image of what a woman should be. I don't decide it, you don't, the designers do.
  12. And you're missing my point with Daughters of Khaine, I see what you are trying to do and you are not reading the rest of my post in context just to get a gotcha moment. In the very thread the people who want more female parity in the game DON'T like daughters of khaine because they fall into the skimpy trope naked girl trope. The point I'm making is to create interesting factions that appeal to people.
  13. How do you measure that? You're not wrong but you have several people in this thread who consider Daughters of Khaine to be problematic because of the skimpy clothes trope, but low and behold some females want that. The only thing I'm concerned about is that some people in the thread are veering into checkbox territory. If we start equalizing the parity across factions just because, you might lose the essence of what they are. Here's an example Daughters of Khaine, I don't want to see a large male presence in the army, they're a matriarchal cult they should be predominately female. Now the other end of the spectrum, Space Marines(I don't even like this faction), they should remain all male. Now to move to your slyvaneth example, some in this very thread don't like the female sylvaneth models because the elf part looks either too pretty and they have breast hanging out or that spite revenants are too monstrous, but they're fey spirits. It makes sense for them to be that way. So should these people have the right to change the faction that appealed to females and males for whatever reason because they feel they don't represent females well? Hence my opinion, forget parity, just make interesting factions. People buy factions for whatever appeals to them.
  14. Wanted to largely avoid this discussion but here's my view. Instead of worrying about the ratio between men and women, GW should just focus on making interesting factions. Since according to my sphere the armies that people in this thread consider "problamatic" like daughters of Khaine is the army most females in my store buy. Idoneth is a second contender and then nighthaunt. I haven't seen a female buy a sisters of battle box, actually they tend not to like that. Also I find it that strange that some people feel that all females want armies of butch women or "brutal" women that are almost like men, that may appeal to some people but according to my anecdote that doesn't seem to be the case. Hell, before the lockdown I bought my models over to my little siblings, showed them website and guess what? My two sisters didn't want to paint any of the female models, the older one enjoys painting khorne bloodreavers and the younger one seems absolutely fascinated with my genestealer cultists. I showed her my acolyte hybrid, for those who don't know these guys. I asked her why she liked them and she said "They are creepy and cool." I was surprised, but that further solidified my stance and in my store the little girls i've seen actually do Nurgle, Beastmen and Idoneth. So, in the end my opinion is this. Make interesting factions instead of focusing on gender parity, that will grab people's interest more. Instead I feel if you try to design something just to tick boxes you will most likely lose the essence that will make the faction interesting or draw the eye of the individual. Some may disagree with me, but that's my perspective after my anecdote.
  15. I don't know how you get that impression, it's made quite clear in the battletome that Nagash reforms the souls to represent their sins. In the case of harridans they're female hospice workers who kept people from dying. Myrmourns are female wizards who don't pay nagash his due. So a knight of shrouds for example can be male or female. Plus if we follow thr soul wars book, the executioner is female. The forms of the nighthaunt is based entirely on Nagash's mood and warped idea of punishment.
  16. Its because those who are still trying to meme on AOS are still in the past, five years ago. The video proves they are a small echo chamber who only parrot the words of their resident youtuber who hasn't read anything. Hell, most them most likely haven't picked up a fantasy book either.
  17. Well yes, that's why I tell people to never pre-order unless you are sure of the product you're going to buy.
  18. Warhammer fantasy was lucky that the IP was picked up by CA, total war is the only big rts ip left. Problem is the warhammer total war community is quite stereotypical unfortunately. Dawn of war 3? I found the complaints silly in light of dawn of war 2 which had far more moba-like mechanics, to me it seemed like with the third game they tried to mix the two and satisfied none. I hoped they would of spent time to fix the game, but as Relic said they didn't bother because as you know the non-hobby fanbase are never satisfied. When they hate something, they'll always hate it. Just look at AOS and the reaction to the new game trailer. I hate using this word, but I think by large I've found people who "enjoy" warhammer and don't do the hobby are quite... toxic when it comes to the games. They fail to realise warhammer is quite a niche ip still in the grand scheme of things. Plus I suspect the license is expensive hence why we don't see many AAA games with the ip.
  19. Considering its on console I think it was a given that it would be turn-based. Despite my love for the rts genre its largely dead save a select few ips. I think this descision was made to ensure the game sells.
  20. Looks like you might get your wish. Its turn-based but the campaign is non-linear. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1233590/Warhammer_Age_of_Sigmar_Storm_Ground/
  21. Well there are DoW 1 & 2 devs on the team, but considering the game is cross-platform I'm not expecting a traditional rts game. I highly suspect it's going to be turn-based.
  22. They just showed a trailer of the AOS strategy game by gasket, dig the art-style.
  23. He's likely going to be limited to the hedonite keyword. Only The keeper and Syll have command abilities that affect the faction. I think Slaanesh desperately needs their own mortal heroes that works within the faction. There are plenty of Slaves to Darkness heroes in my opinion. Still, it could go either way. Some of the mortal heroes in the god-dedicated books have command abilities that only affect their faction and some affect the entire keyword.
  24. Well, I'll take your word for it. That's just the impression I got considering the nod to the splintered fang and the hellstriders by the writers in the white dwarf and the old metal lord snake lord. Considering those models I just didn't see them making a character with pantaloons.
