  1. Honestly whilst I can see the Endless Spells becoming standard I think the realm stuff might stick to casual play only and even then be something some do and some don't like. Some of hte spells or items do seem more broken or open to abuse than others. Depends if GW takes a look in a few months and revises any or not.
  2. My main problem with command abilities and battalions is more visual. They are both rather expensive to achieve and yet put nothing on the table itself in a visual nature. This seems really odd as GW introduce Endless Spells which are a point sink for visual spells. To me the game is a visual one and whilst we've always had upgrades and unit options and the like, its odd to have CP be such a big piont sink that they are. You can easily spend several hundred points on "nothing". Even at 2K points, having 1/10th or more going on nothing visual seems really odd to me.
  3. It looks like this week is a Bloodbowl week!
  4. DoK are a glass cannon army so they are nearly always going to hit very hard when they work as intended. The key of the army is to strike hard and fast and do maximum damage. However if your opponents learn to knock out or tangle up key units (like hags and queens) and to use screen units that are tough but perhaps not as damaging, but whcih can hold the line to block charges from Witches and Sisters - then your opponent can go some way to turning tables. Basically you need to either hit DoK faster and harder or have tougher units that can tarpit and out-last the initial hard hit.
  5. Ahh Shadspire is different again. I hope it keeps going, I'd like to see more factions get a little squad of hero units to use in there! Though I'm reminded that Sigmar already had Skirmish rules and many of the battletomes also have skirmish components to them. So surely GW can just put out a brand new 2018 2.0 skirmish rule book to reinforce that; couple that to a couple of starting kit boxes and away it goes.
  6. I thought Shadspire was the Sigmar equivalent? Certainly they've been making models for it for specific factions and I'd assume they will keep making more factions in Shadspire versions?
  7. The only thing on them I'd worry about are the whips, but even they are small (the worst are whips on Slannesh chariots). The worrying models or Daughters are, in my view, the Cauldrons and Khinerai (one day I'll learn how to spell that word without having to look it up). Both feature a lot of small contract area parts and both feature some thinner details; plus cauldrons are big! Khinerai are also pretty big (actually just compared it, they are nearly as big as an angelus heavy warbeast from Hordes) so even when one has a stable storage its going to take up quite a chunk of space!
  8. And upon that day much blood was spilt upon snake booty In other news what you guys using to transport Khinari? I thought they'd be fragile, but having put one together my GODS are these going to be fragile models! Really beautiful but gods spears and tails they are thin!
  9. Ahh the Blood Cauldron kit itself won't be discontinued*, that's just out of stock for a fair bit. It's only the combined Blood Coven (cauldron and witches) kit that is going away . *If it were it would only be because GW put it into a starter kit only; much like they've done with a few other big monsters from fantasy. However I think that because of what the Cauldron offers to players I suspect it won't be in the new getting started kit; I suspect the new getting started might be something like two units of witches and then some harpies or snakes.
  10. For clarity they've never had one. They had a combined kit of one Blood Cauldron and one Witch Aelves set at discount. The Blood Coven kit (which is what it was called) is being discontinued, though it appears that distributors still have stock for 3rd party retailers (and some local GW stores might also still have stock if you contact them to ask). So it might be around for a little bit more but it should be ended. Where this leaves daughters is anyones guess. I think GW will give daughters a proper kit and will do something to lower the price of Witch Aelves (which are grossly overpriced right now for a battleline troop choice). But I've not heard anything and chances are even if you contact GW you won't get an answer.
  11. It's the strings of a guitar (photographed sideways and thus likely being held in the air high in great exaltation by its player). This is the beginning of the re-metal-ifiction of Warhammer! Getting back to its 80s roots when everything came with a metal/rock music tracks!
  12. I think you've captured that era of style fantastically! I often feel that animation through to art the detail and skill has grown in general at large since that era; but we've somewhere along the way lost some of the style and magic that those earlier artists had. Love to see your fully army complete with Endless Spells on the table as I bet that would look a rare treat of fantasy!
  13. Love the choice of colours; the very dark edges give them a very "classic fantasy" visual style that reminds me of a lot of book/album covers from the past.
  14. Just put a mostly fun list together based around allies and Shadow Patrol. Considering it features a lot of what I visually like It's likely something I'll work toward putting together (even if it sadly has not a single snake*) The Kraith Leaders: Slaughter Queen on Cauldron of Blood - General Sorceress Assassin Hag Queen Units: Khinerai Heartrenders 5 Khinerai Heartrenders 5 Khinerai Heartrenders 5 Khinerai Lifetakers 5 (most likely place to put the assassin) Doomfire Warlocks 5 - mindrazor Doomfire Warlocks 5 - Shroud of despair Witch Aelves (bucklers) 20 Witch Elves (blades) 10 Sisters of Slaughter (whips and knives) 10 Behemoth: War Hydra Battalions: Shadow Patrol Total 1940 - leaving room for Endless Spells *actually putting this list together made me realise how expensive units are points wise in AoS. It's really hard to fit a lot of fun/varied stuff into lists. Esp when we are losing 100 points and more to a Battalion. I wonder if in the future the points system might reflect this and split itself into two parts; one part units one part battalions/endless spells. The Battalions also run so high in points that its actually hard to bulk out the units in them without ending up with almost nothing but the battalion forming the army itself.
  15. I've an assembly/painting question too. Khinari have a lot of detail and a lot of cross over detail. I'm wondering if, besides the head, if there are any other parts people have left off to paint and then assembled after. I'm particularly looking at the legs which can have sashes and such running between them/over them and thus makes for a lot of tight gaps to get a brush around.
  16. Their price makes full sense when Dark Elves were united under one heading and they were an elite unit choice that you might only take a smaller number of; thus whilst being high priced, you didn't have to get many of them. Right now you could easily purchase 120* of them in boxes - giving you 2 groups of 30 Sisters and Witches. That's a staggering £420 right now so they could very much do with halving the price at the very least to bring them into a value that is more sensible for the volume they are expected to be used in . *that isn't assuming that you'll use all 120 each game, but that having access to two full detachments of both types is likely to be number most would be comfortable having in their collection as a base to build from.
  17. I'm overread most places, but on there I was Overmind2000 - had the old ripper avatar from the default list And I'm terrible with names too, I only recall you because of the name and avatar icon (and if you'd used a different avatar I'd not recall you at all probably)
  18. My expectation is that things should swing round to at least half a year of Sigmar focus. 40K just finished a massive year of updates to the codex and only has 3 more factions to go before everything is done pretty much. After that there's Sisters of Battle next year, but otherwise they should be done. So that leaves ample time to flip things over and let Sigmar dominate for a period of time. Granted there's Titanicus in August, but that release, whilst big, should also be fairly small in terms of what comes out (two weeks and it should be done). I do think DoK need a getting started soon; for a faction so newly released its teling that they didn't get a getting started add during the big 2.0 launch and with Morathi and two other new sculpts (snakes and harpies) and a big spot next to Slannesh in the story I can't see Daughters vanishing. The worry is that they'll hold off and do a big joint Sisters and Slannesh release - which is fine so long as Slannesh isn't left for another half a year or more.
  19. @Kirjava13 Also I just remembered where I saw your avatar and user name - RelicNews forums! Same person?
  20. I don't mind Daughters having all their Heroes in one box - its probably cheaper that way than getting them all separately. The only things I really do mind are a lack of a proper getting started set and the price of Witch Aelves. It's nuts to think that its over £100 just to field a single 30 person unit of a basic troop type! I really don't get why GW hasn't just issued a new GS boxed set with, say, two groups of Witch Aelves and something else or somesuch.
  21. I wonder how fast they are going to push out Endless Spells. We can possibly expect them for every new Battletome to come, however several armies already have Battletomes for Sigmar and are unlikely to see any new one for a very long time. So that leaves me wondering if GW is going to overlook those armies for ages, drip feed them Endless spells or push them out fast to encourage their use. Personally I hope for the latter rather than leaving existing factions waiting on a "maybe" whilst seeing other factions get new battletomes and endless spells.
  22. Yeah I think the only changes for Daughters has been the point adjustments to the Battalions
  23. I don't think anyone was expecting to see big hints of future content today beyond the new models coming out next week. Today was all about the new book, new spells, etc... So yeah fully expected not to get many/any hints at other new stuff coming futher. I'm sure that some hints have been dropped and will be in the big 24 hour video; so I'm sure some stuff will come out. Plus the new Genestealer cults models "accidentally" ended up in the showcase.
  24. Here's a question, anyone got details and photos of how you transport your models? For the most part DoK are fairly easy, but the cauldron and Morathi are huge models. Even if you're only taking two caldrons or a cauldron and bloodwreck that's a lot of space taken up with bulky models; esp if one hasn't magnetized the avatar. So I'd be interesting on hearing and seeing what cases and setups work and how much we can all carry.
  25. I can't quite get a straight answer on the BloodCoven. GW Websites dont' list it (though the newzealand one does) however I've seen several UK stores get stock of it over the last week or two; though neither of the two I've spoken too has found a firm answer as to if its discontinued or what is going on with it. Regardless the Blood Cauldron is a veyr solid purchase as it gives you most of the heroes that the faction has - actually all of them baring Morathi. So that would be a first port of call; then add in witches (expensive sadly)
