The vampire is reflected in the water, except they themselves have no reflection (vampire folklore)

Silver was belived to be a pure metal that repelled impure souls. Part of the vampire folklore comes because ancient mirrors used a layer of silver, and therefore, they couldn't reflect vampires.

Vampires that can't be reflected in other surfaces (aka, on a lake) is a twist to classic folklore and part of the popular culture (and a great hook for any modern adaptation).

i was thinking of trying something like this

(Artycles): Honour is Everything - Stick To The Code
(Footnotes): There’s No Reward Without Risk, Without Our Ships, We Are Naught
    LEADERS
    Aether-Khemist (110)
    Aetheric Navigator (110)
Arkanaut Admiral (150) - General - Command Traits: A Scholar and an Arkanaut - Artefacts of Power: Celestium Burst-grenade
    BATTLELINE
    Arkanaut Company (90)
    Arkanaut Company (90)
    Grundstok Gunhauler (180)
    BEHEMOTH
    Arkanaut Frigate (310)
    Arkanaut Frigate (310)
    OTHER
    Endrinriggers (260)
    Grundstok Thunderers (340)
    TOTAL POINTS: 1950/2000

    Fantastic list!

Remember that your army comes from Barak-Urbaz, take another Article!
I'm not used to play with a double footnote, but I think it has a lot of potential with a double-frigate.

I'm not a fan of Trust to Your Guns, it seems good on paper but I love to sweep around the battlefield with a 2D6" run. Even our foot soldiers can move fast with this amendment.

    Good luck with your games!

I've seen a few old world players saying that aos is already dead because of the 4th edition changes GW has mentioned lol, it's pretty amusing to see

This remind me about early AoS:

"This game will die in less than 2 years..."

    9 years later:

"Yep, 1 month and it's dead..."

40k 10th isn't really built for comp players.

It's very much meant to appeal to ultra-casual garagelords who play 1 game every 3 months, or super new players. That's what the system is built around.

That would be perfect for me.

But sadly, 1 game every 3 months means a lot to me and the lack of flavour kills my whole excitement.

I don’t like this. TOW was supposed to be the specialist game to the mainstream fantasy game that is AoS, which means being more niche… Now it’s overtaken 40k as the most played game at Lenton. I do hope this is a fashion effect because if TOW continues to top AoS in the long term that means less ressources allocated for our AoS minis.

Edit : I'm not being spiteful towards people who have fun playing TOW, just questionning what it means for AoS.

I don't think you need to worry for that. We are near 4oS and that's what matter.

    Just enjoy the ride.

Which lords do people think we’ll see return, it says five in metal. And a Lord Thane and standard in Resin.

On top of that, yet further into the future, there are five more sets of mighty Dwarfen legends to be Made to Order. These include a set of five metal Lords, three metal Runesmiths, four metal Dragon and Daemon Slayers, one metal Dwarf Queen, and a Lord, Thane, and Standard Bearer in resin. We can’t show them currently, but these exquisite miniatures will be very familiar to Dwarf players of a particular vintage.

I reckon we’ll see these in resin. IMG_0565.jpeg.0b83cb159f26a219ea70b1e9d740d48f.jpegIMG_0564.jpeg.624ba478dd1db20ac6a288778d6af611.jpegIMG_0566.jpeg.1ab4eb82b70c1dcd9c15e708e2fc6517.jpeg

Like you said : they don't have the same mechanisms. Alternative Activation isn't IGOUGO, and I hardly call that "Double Turn" when said turn talks about simply activation of the same unit twice between 2 turns. It's merely "Double Activation".

Words are important, don't try to compare apples with oranges.

To me, that's the impact of a double turn in an IGOUGO vs AA game. It's exactly the same mechanis (rolling to see who starts each battleround, doesn't matter if that makes a double-turn or not), but the diference is how impactful and synergetic is to the main core mechanics of the game.

In an IGOUGO game, it has a higher impact than in an AA game. That's exactly my point, this mechanic is not exclusive to AoS, but it feels more impactful and punishing.

GW seems to aknowledge that there are some problems with this mechanic, that's why we saw some rules to reduce the effectiveness of a double-turn like command points, and Matt Rose talked in the last preview about giving more reaction commands and interactivities in your opponents turn. That's exactly what I want to see if the double-turn must stay in AoS, enough tools to minimize it's impact (not like an AA, but you get the point).

Btw, Imho, the main question that all players should answer is, how fun it is to have/or be double-turn/ed?

If you require a reset as a designer is because there are not gonna be changes, it is a new system and you can expect new things coming. AoS 4.0 doesn't exist it is NEW AoS

Not exactly true. You can have the same system but with enough tweaks and updates that it becomes incompatible with the old Battletomes/Warscrolls. USR can be enough to make a reset even if 90% of the game is still the same.

Awesome miniature 10/10. With a few bits, you can even turn him in to an awesome fyreslayer.

I'm not so sure about a Slayer Army of Infamy anymore. The lack of plastic suicidal stunties may have forced the designers to think about other options (norses and engineers?).

I know that wasn't a problem back in the Storm of Chaos, but it would be nowadays.

That's why I think the Armies of infamy are excuses as a projects instead of armies to collect. Tomb Kings and Bretonnia has rules for units that doesn't have miniatures, and the journal explicity says that you need to convert or use diferent paint schemes.

Well I stand corrected. Maybe Malakai invented a time machine

Maybe Malakai doesn't need a time machine: If I'm right (I'm not a Fantasy player), he invented the Goblin Hewer during the Storm of Chaos event, but what happens if The Old World is set in another timeline (End Times)? That could be a good excuse.

Btw, I didn't see him near TOW's Goblin Hewer, maybe he is not part of the crew anymore?

Sigmar is a God-King, not King of the Gods like Odin or Zeus. he has some measure of regret for his choices, which were done to save Order

I always thought that Gods (mainly, non-chaotic gods) should be on their back end of their power, thinking that their infinite might is still there, but the reality is that a mere mortal can kill them. That would be a good excuse to kill this god-like miniatures on the table or use avatars, so the gods themself don't need to be on the fight.

I think that's a better setting for AoS than just a division between high level players and low level players, and brings more tension within the story without altering the whole AoS concept (gods are already killed, ascended or eaten alive, just push this concept a bit farther).

  12. It seems that there will be a lot more changes:

    01.jpg.4316a8d805ab8e25998021bf8e642a17.jpg

I'm excited to see this new iteration of AoS, to be honest,  I'm not a fan of all the stuff introduced in 3.0 . Let's hope for the best with 4th edition.

So, about rules, Matt, Phil and Ben talked about the USR and is seems that there will be only a few (some examples where common weapon abilities, champion, music and stanrard bearer), let's see what happens with all the crazy AOS abilities. Another point is that the rule's team worked on all the warscroll with their miniatures in mind, trying to adjust the rules with what you see on the table.

My main issue is the discrepancies that AoS has, everything needs to be designed within the same structure. And I hope that we don't lose any flavour in the process.

He would be very young if he was, and living fairly happily in or around Karaz-a-Karak not having taken the Slayer Oath.

I've always liked the idea that his axe has had multiple bearers over the centauries, with Grimnir trying to create a new avatar each time, and somehow ending up back in the Chaos Wastes for the next unlucky dwarf to find. We could see it in TOW with a completely different wielder.

That sounds like a 5 book's series. Count me in.

For whatever reason, I'm looking again and again the whole dwarf presentation. I was never excited for miniatures since april 2017

  14. My take on the preview (still need to view the whole presentations and listen carefuly what they said):

    • AoS 4.0: Need to see SCE miniatures to see how diferent they are from old ones, but in the trailer, they are just SCE with a fancy armour. Skavens seems awesome. I'm more interested in the rules, but it's really good to read that subfactions are still here. I will wait to read the lore before making my opinion, but trying to invade the Great Patch by throwing Skavenblight seems the best skaven tactic.
    • Dawnbringers VI Chaos-edition: Really good for chaotic and viking fans. Abraxia looks awesome.
    • Dwarven Mountain Holds: Ok. Exactly what I expected.
    • Warhammer Underworlds: Wintermaw: Ok, not the best, not the worst. They have awesome design elements that can be used for new units
    • Warcry: Briar and Bone: Awesome miniatures. Centaur-ossiarcs, bee-tamers,... crazy things going. I think Warcry won the miniature-war preview.
    • Chaos Space Marines: Ok. They are marines, with spikes.
    • Kill Team: Termination: I don't know... I have a League of Votann army, and I'm not sure that I want to buy that kill team.
    • Horus Heresy: ??
    • Necromunda: ??

A lot to unpack, but a bit sad the there wasn't any 4.0 miniature. I can't wait to read about the new rules.
