Funnily enough, I actually think there should be a "consolidation" of published material but an increase in faction/sub-faction diversity. Allow for the exploration of Mortal Kingdoms that aren't necessarily associated with the established Gods. Or are, but not just to Sigmar.

That's exactly why I think an Imperial Armoury-like books, but completely based on AoS, would be one of the best things for the game:

    • Use most of the AoS models.
    • Resin/plastic kits for characters and big and weird stuff that wouldn't be part of the main AoS game.
    • Books about themed armies (aka, subfactions) and world building stuff that is not part of the main AoS show.

And being part of the specialist team, all this campaign books wouldn't follow a regular pipeline (at least, not as strict as the Main Studio). Just let Matt Rose take a look at the rules before going to print and move on.

Not sure I like the idea of Endless Spells being fightable.

"Oh look, there's a giant magical hand holding a magical mirror coming towards us. But don't worry, we can hit it with a club and kill it!"

It sounds good to me. I had the same thought.

If endless can hit my units (and most of them are completely corporeal), why my models can't hit back?

They can still change the name right?

I woudn't give a lot of credit to AoS boxes. I still remember that the old Orcs&Goblins had rules, even featured in the second campaign (with fun rules, I miss the option to put set terrain on fire) and a Start Collecting box,. A few months later, they were removed...

  4. What do you think about the rule Drill for a Karak Kadrin army of infamy? Being an army, I suppose they are more trained that basic Slayers that roam the forests and mountains of the Old World. I don't know if it will help but pairing something like Look Snorri, Troll! with marching column, could be a good, I suppose.

I wonder too...especially if Malakai Makaisson is with it (he's a dwarf, I guess he could be living quite long like Ungrim, in the end). Regiments of Renown tend to be mercenary units, but we know the Dragon Company will be in the arcane journal too and they are totally a mercenary unit for sure. We'll see.

The weird thing is that Malakai was not seen around the Goblin Hewer in any of the Dwarf promotion pics... suspicious.

  6. My take:

Assemble a new working team from the Specialist Studio and make Imperial Armoury-like campaigns based on the Mortal Realms.

So, a few new kits and awesome books, with a lot of world building, new characters, a bunch of subfactions and maybe even alternative lists.

(Note: I don't care about balance).

Imo, because of the nature of BTs some armies have a bigger pool to chose from than other armies. Even when there are no faction specific BTs anymore.

That's exacty what I said. The problem is not Alliance vs Generic vs Faction battletactics. The problem is how dificult or easy are going to be in an asymetric game.

The problem with Alliance BsT instead of Faction ones is that for some factions its much easier to succeed in the battle tactics than others.

I don't think it matters. I mean, that happens with generic BT too.

The main problem with this system is not where BT comes from. The main problem is when some armies have 2 easy BT and other have 6.

Shu'gohl, or the crawling city is a city of sigmar in Ghur build on the back of a massive crawling worm. It featured in two black library novels so far.

Edit: That Roving Clans picture makes me want to do another run of Endless Legend.

    I miss Josh Reynolds /sadface

It‘d be a lie to say I am not looking forward to playing the new edition, these previews however have taken away my excitement. I want to play an immersive battle game, not compete for a meaningless trophy at some tournament.

I'm the opposite. I like most of the #NEWAOS articles and I can't wait to learn more about this edition.

I'm not a fan of batlle tactics but I will wait until I see more things.

Maybe it's because there's very few changes? Are we expecting anything major? (apart from what we know already, no shooting if you're in melee, which is big but already "spoiled")

Imho, it's about the impact of this "minor" changes:

Who will have the "shoot in combat" USR, what to expect to see with units with 5 shooting profiles, is there any diference between ranged units and artillery, how they interact with terrain rules and I wouldn't  mind to see a few warscrolls.

So; DoK, FS, KO, Ogors and Tzeentch looking like hotspot contenders for a decent wave.
IDK and OBR co-piloting the "I-need-more-kits-mobile".

At least that seems logical to me 🤷‍♂️

Me too. It's suspicious that ALL dwarf armies are in that list... (another page in the book)

I dont think the loss of I, WS, S and T matters so much, thats just one kind of system. If we still had those, then in AOS terms theyd just make the vampire lord and goblin chief have the same stats. GW can still give things different stats for wounds, saves, attacks, rend, damage and special rules like always strikes first (always, on a 4+, on the charge, ...) with their current system, if they wanted to. So that a goblin chief isnt the equivalent of a vampire lord, but a vampire lord is more equivalent to the things it's supposed to be similar to. It just needs to be done systematically.

I 100% agree.  There are a lot of diferent games without SvsT or WSvsWS, and still they have unique and lore-accurate characters.

What I really think AoS misses on is point based artefacts/traits/powers. You could easily have a generic vampire lord be what they are currently, then give us the option to add up to 100 points of something. An extra cast, bonus to cast, extra attacks on the charge, more wounds - something at least to make them more fun rather than just the +1 attack ability that just feels like we are playing a card game and placing a +1 attack card down on our turn

That's another thing that I really want to see. I'm not talking about TOW customization, but at least the option to buy (with points) upgrades for characters.
