Kramer
New Years resolution morning includes getting more active in the painting section, I more importantly decided to up my game. I was already working on my sequitors and decided the first order of business is to get better at building up colours. so cream coloured sequitors here we go. so pretty happy for this first try. Wet palette definitely helps but requires a bit of getting used to. Not yet happy with the transition but it’s a skill I need to practice and not keep trying to repair earlier mistakes. . So on to the next set of robes. I’ll put this model next to the last in the squad to see if I made progress when I get there. (Weapon head will be later, and she’ll get a final touch up when all are done. Noticed some mistakes just now.) Kramer
Just a quick snap of the model with a base. Was getting curious to see the end result. Currently repainting the purple robes to the cream color on the rest of the unit. question to the community: black or brown rims on the base? Kramer
And done for now! Happy with the end results. Very lucky to get some tips in the colour selection. Namely the robes cream coloured instead of purple. Which made all the difference. (just the mace heads to do, but the plan is to replace them for some NMM painted axe heads. But first need to practise that a bit more.) With all my basing materials out I also quickly did the bases on my hunters from a while back: Made an effort to put them in higher undergrowth. just a comparison. What do you think? do the hunter undergrowth need to be higher still? Edited February 9, 2020 by Kramer 1
ThalmorRepresentative
Those are looking amazing, Kramer! I really like how clean the face-masks on the helms came out.

I sprayed the first hunters in wraithbone to test out the black contrast paint and it just worked. That 'happy little accident' never made me feel more like a painter 😂
Kramer
So every jungle needs some water features. So today me and a mate started experimenting with some old water effects my father left me. It works but I have a couple of grips with it. For one it’s slightly coloured by design. But more importantly it turns solid way too fast. There is no way I can work that in a nice shape. It’s great though for terrain, but not for small basing details. If you have any experience with water effects let me know what you prefer!
Kramer
Not happy with the lack of height on the water effects I got a different product. One with a 24 hour drying time, but already looking easier to manage. Also a little something something for silver tower. Just to prove I still can’t stay on track in 2020 😅
Kramer
it will need some further experimentation but this wil work 😁
Kramer
Sadly not all the required bits have arrived but the weekend of converting has started. the main attraction will be a gaunt summoner. Sadly not all the resin books and candles I ordered have arrived yet so I’m kinda stuck at the building stage until then. The goal is a vortex of books around the flame pillar and the summoner On top of the big book. Candles and closed books to fill out the base. (This is just a crude mock up as I got excited to see the relative sizes of all the parts) no sorcerer can be without his familiar. More to come as I require 4 for silver tower (which I bought without models) and finally a thematic balewind for my ogors in progress. The base will be magnetised. Debating to make a custom platform as well but no inspiration yet. also need a different material for the teeth of the maw. all C&C is appreciated. 2
Kramer
Just a progress picture to prove to myself I’m still... well progressing. Tornado* finished. Base needs some work. Still undecided if I’m going to build myself a different top. * for which the paint style I have to credit a tga member. But I can’t find the screenshot with his or her name. So thank you!
Kramer
No narrative campaign would be complete without a loyal companion. Still WIP but good enough to start basing and playing it today. added bonus is that my 1,5 year old goes crazy for it as I matched the marking to the neighbours cat 😂
Kramer
Wait I never posted a picture of the finished balewind here:
Kramer
My stormcast are based on the sons of Mallus. Black armour, darker mood. Renowned for their decimators units that reap enemies like a farmer with a scythe reaps corn. Not much more than little snippets like that are known but from this little snippet I decided all my units should be armed with axes. just can’t decide between these options. (would cut out the round part in the middle. That way it’s basically 4 sided axe )
