Flesheaters vs different enemies in lore

Recommended Posts

In the lore, how would Flesheaters fight a force like for example the Ossiarchs? The Ossiarchs seem to be proof against all of the FECs' standard weaponry - death screams, bone implements, claws, fangs, necrotic infections, and they (as far as I'm aware) don't have any organs that can be mundanely targeted with paralyzing pain, concussion or rupture. What would a Varghulf do against a Morghast, Gothizzar harvester or even Mortek guard?

Many years ago I remember reading - don't remember whether it was cited from some source or just speculation - that what you were actually striking at on the undead was not merely their materials, like bone, but the magic that holds them together. And the unraveling of that magic is what "really" happens when such models are slain. I guess that could begin to go toward an explanation... but it still seems very awkward at best for a Varghulf to fight those kinds of constructs.

Maybe the seeming hopelessness of this fight is indeed why "... Ghouls have been spied crawling like pale beetles upon [Highhaven's] Realmgates, scratching ancient sigils and dark runes into the stones to ward against transgression by the unliving [of Nagash]."

Valiantly, with honor and courage... defending the weak against the oncoming tide of darkness.

then some Aragon LotR 3 speech and everybody screeches FOR THE LADY!!!

and a blob of ghouls will fight against the mortek guard like they do on the table, seriously outclassed, naked and barehanded to the last „man“

what they see? Maybe demonic clockwork soldiers 🤖

Maybe oppressive renegade knights bleeding the poor lands dry with their unjust taxes 🧑‍🏫

It's probably on par with them having to fight lightning demigods encased in magic armor so potent that even chaos knight lances at full tilt glance off their chestplates.

Bone/rusted weapons, mass numbers of fearless warriors and their own unique dark magic to disrupt Nagash's.

It'd still be a terrifying costly fight though so it's sensible for even these mad courts and their kings to try and stem the undead tides as you pointed out.
