Tilting Models

Isotop

Question

I have got a pretty straightforward question: Is there any rule that stops the players from tilting a model to the point of laying it on its side? Here is a quick sketch to demonstrate what I was thinking about:

I guess we all agree that A and B are valid positions for the grey model in relation to the playing ground. C seems weird at first glance, but my question boils down to this: Is there, ruleswise, any difference between B and C and what makes each position in itself a valid or invalid one?

I think a base is considered part of a model, so this doesn't break line of sight. To expand on why you might want to do this, I would check out the "Climbing and Flyers" question thread. Since flyers ignore vertical movement while flying, this could potentially help a flying unit successfully charge a unit that has its back to terrain.

I would love an answer to this as well. This never rears it's head in situations just like C, but it does frequently when considering large flying monsters landing on terrain pieces and then piling down the cliff facing 3" to attack enemies at the base. We currently play it that the model can move up and down the cliff faces in a way similar to picture C (model positioned so the base is perpendicular to playing mat).
