Azamar Posted January 4, 2019 Share Posted January 4, 2019 Now we’ve reached the far distant future of 2019, I thought it might be a good idea to have a thread to share the models we’ve converted and painted through the past year. I found it quite surprising to look back and realise just how much I’d put together in the last 12 months. 2018 saw me finish the last few models for my first 2000 points of painted kharadron overlords. After that I started work on a fyreslayer force but got rather distracted by the idoneth deepkin release. These were the highlight of the year and I had an absolute blast painting them. After a period where I was painting in pretty much every moment of my spare time, I had 2000 points of deepkin painted, and moved back to expanding my ongoing fire aelf force. I also managed to get underway on a few lotr war bands and endless spells. Targets for 2019: I’m hoping to finally get back to fyreslayers and get a more rounded army together. I also wanted to add a few models to my Kharadron and Idoneth armies, and try and get a working Phoenix temple force together. what did everyone else paint/convert in the past 12 months? Didn't realise how much i actually managed to get through. Started off the year with painting my brothers Nurgle 40k, tackled Mortarian which was quite stressful but I am delighted with the results. So on the AoS front I entered a competition in my local GW and won! Was chuffed. It was my first diorama - Knight Venator vs a Plague Drone. I took a big break from painting after that and got cracking into my own Sylvaneth - 10 Tree Revanants, a converted Branchwraith (from a Spellweaver), 6 Hunters (3 bow and 3 Scythes) the bows are done but i don't have any pics on my phone. Lightbox Posted January 9, 2019 Share Posted January 9, 2019 As much as I'd love to contribute to this as you know Azamar, me and painting have a rather complicated relationship... though I should have some finished pieces lying around that I'm proud of. I'd like to say though that everyone's gorgeous models here already are some amazing inspiration for me to pull my finger out and get painting! (preferably painting with a brush though because finger painting models is rather difficult) However for 2019 I am certainly going to try and throw down the challenge. Finish an army. And by that I mean get at least a full 2000 point list painted and based. 2019 should also be the year of learning to freehand but that will more be 40k based (given myself the challenge of painting st Celestine onto an imperial knight shoulder pad). Should it work however I might try similar on unit banners! EDIT: Found some of my highlights of the year! Archaon: Cassia Von Ravenspeak (my vampire lady) And my admiral for my mixed race kharadron force w/doppleganger cloak I'll also have to try and find morathi when I get home as she's the one I'm most proud of.
