Thought its probably best we have a place to chat about mixed destruction lists as I keep missing stuff as its all dotted about in other posts! 

Soon we are going to be able to field 3 solid pure factions in ironjawz, bonesplitas and beastclaw, so why go mixed destruction? To start I may as well throw Da bigman himself into the mix!

Gorrdrakk the fist of Gork: he sits in the ironjawz faction but has the ability to effect any destruction units or formations. He is an absolute baller at takin down wizards/heroes and let's be honest all of the big hitters in the other factions are almost all both heroes and wizards. Kunnin alone should on average do around 5/6 mortal wounds add that to his average 4 mortal wounds of destructive bulk 2 from smasha and you have probably killed a mortarch got allarielle wishing she was somewhere else and nagash or archaon getting a sweat on.  He is expensive and has no defence against mortal wounds so will be a spell/shot magnet but he doesn't get too badly effected as he takes wounds. With the new destruction trait will move d6" then 12 and potentially 3d6 charge if he puts his ability on himself so his average threat range from the 12" line if you get turn one is 26" that's balls out but a valid threat and might catch your opponent out 

he is a reason enough to mix factions if your not a fan of the ironjawz. 

Based on 2000pt I am thinking he is going to be best used alongside a formation that doubles as your battleline (Gutbusters or new savage orruks ones etc....) 

 or with min battleline tax and then a offensive formation (3x10 savage orruks + ironjaws ironfist etc...)

or with bigger battleline invest with some support characters  tied to the battleline and a killer unit to escort him so say 3 x 6 ogors and a butcher some so the units take and hold while he flies about with his escort and does the krumpin!!

my gut is the second one so you have the choice to launch him on his own across the board T1 or get your elite formation into place and then +2a and a 18" charge for them all, using the battleline tax to hang back and secure objectives 

as a side issue I also think that the 700pt characters and above are really designed for 2500pt games to get the maximum from them :-)

Good post Kieran,

I haven't used Gordrakk yet he was expensive (for good reason) under SCGT and in GH I'm just not sure I can justify him over a regular Cabbage and a unit of Brutes/Ardboyz/Gore-Gruntas. I kinda get the feeling he is better in general Destruction than pure Ironjawz.

What are your favourite Battalions to use him with? If Beastclaw Raiders keep a version of the Beastclaw Avalanche that could be pretty brutal...perhaps bordering on overkill!

Amazingly I have only used him with a battalion once because under Scgt I rarely used battalions once the ironjawz were released as the one I favoured was the Ironjawz big mob. However I have used him with a 3 x 10 ardboyz and 3 gore grunta ironfist and it was amazing 10 & 5 of the ardboyz and gordrakk were fighting 6 plague drones and they killed 2 and gordrakk 3 while the other side of the board 10 ardboyz killed 2 more. If the guy hadn't gotten back 3 from rolling a 1 (on the 6) and 1 on the 3 for his battleshock t would have effectively been game over turn 3 (as it happens just prolonged the agony :-) 

my man use for it has been on 6 iron guts or on gordrakk himself the IG end up with 31a which is very scary

I've wrote a few 2K-2.5K Allied Destruction lists, so here's a few thoughts;

I hate the fickleness of the MegaBoss's Command Ability if/when there's not a lot of IronJawz units around him, so part of me was thinking of running an Orruk Warboss on Wyvern for something different, prolly w/ a Talisman of Prot, & spam his Waagh on himself & any surrounding Orruks every Hero Phase.  At 240 points he's only 100 points more than his cohort on foot, and can still equip a shield for 4+ full-re-rollable Saves (toss a Mystic Shield on him if your other Monster is out of range/dead!!)

I also like Ogors for BattleLine w/ 1-2 Butchers w/ cauldrons supporting them, & a Ogor Tyrant/generic Bragg the Gutsman w/ Battle Brew swinging a gut-gouger hunting for 3" Rend -2 Dmg. 6 swipes when Wounding on 5+'s, or 4's if he's about to bite it & hits the can o' spinach/Battle Brew hard, when not popping off shots with his pistols.

Otherwise if you can afford/source 3-4 units of Fimir Warriors, the upcoming Fimirach Noble makes them BattleLine when he/it's the General, which is super handy vs shooty armies with good saves, as their Rend -2 Dire Mauls are fun, especially when rolling 6's to Wound (Dmg. 2!)  They're well worth their points if you can get 'em, especially in cover.

Golgfag & ManEaters are fun if you have the points/models, & need a touch more shooting (at the expense of 1 Dmg. & Saves.)

Gordrakk could be fun with a GutBuster Wartribe, I mean you have to buy a unit of LeadBelchers then, but it's only 60 points then for the Battalion & you get another artefact.

Grot Spider Riders are fun as skirmish cav. popping out from behind terrain; their ability to climb over it as if it's not there can catch opponents off-guard, & a unit of 10 functions fine w/ minimal support, even w/ the minor cost increase from SCGT days.

The MoonClan Grot Shaman is solid for 60 points, especially if you can sneak him forward behind something bigger (he's only 4 Wounds, so don't give enemy shooters good LoS on him) then pop some Madcap 'Shrooms & fire off his 'Curse of da Bad Moon' on clusters of enemy units.

If you just want a hail of fire, then x20-30 Savage Orruk Arrowboys will pump out 60-90 shots on 5's & 4's, Rend -1 vs. Monsters, & are 2 W's each.

And finally, when/if you have 40 Points to spare at the end, & have/kit-bash the model, a Goblin Wolf Chariot works well as cheap & zippy chaff, firing off pot-shots, & getting in their way, & everyone can laugh at how ancient the mini is!!
