Dez
Hello All! I'm hoping to reach out for some tricks, as I just can't seem to replicate what I'd like successfully. I'm trying to paint obsidian, like the Grimwraith Berzerker ax and the Auric Runemaster have. Now something to note, I'm going to paint this on the entirety of my budding Fyreslayers, so I need something that will be fairly quick as well. Any advice? Please note, I did see Duncan's tutorial...I think it's the first one I didn't like!
kaaras
Maybe try Abaddon Black, edge highlight with a grey of your choice (Dawnstone, Dark Reaper and/or Fenrisian Grey), Nuln Oil Gloss, Ard Coat. The gloss and Ard Coat should get you the reflective quality you want.
syph0n
I did something similar for a Dreadlord's sword. I bought a gloss black paint (acrylic) from Vallejo. However, although shinier than Abaddon, it's still not very stone-like. I edge highlighted with grey and then white, then covered with Ard Coat. It looks fine, but I think there's better ways of doing it.
