Here is a challenge for you guys.

I have a friendly 2K 'tournament' for malign porten votes comming up. I want to play Death but I only have a limited amount of models. Can you help me build the best list for these? I will add a battle report and give all my internet points as thanks!

I have so few skeletons since Im mostly a painter.

The models are

10×skeletons (sword)

20x skeletons (spears)

10×Graveguard

3x Vhargheist

5x Hexwraiths

2x Mannfred/Neferata/Arkhan (can field 2 of these 3)

1x Nagash

2x Morghast  (halbards) used Harvbringer model, but allowed to field as Achai

1x Terrorgheist

1x Necromancer

1x wight king

1x Knight of Shrouds (can be added for free)

I also have 10 crypt ghouls and 1 ghoul king on foot or on TG (magnets)

All help appreciated!

I am thinking first Cohort og Legion of Knight with both Arkhan and Mannfred.

You could go all out MSU for Legion of the Night, with Mannfred. Sneaking in the Harbringers, Terrorgheist and the Vargheists

or of course with low models...

first cohort: Nagash, necro, morghast, 3x10 skellis 10 Graveg, terrorg.

not quite sure how you´ll hold objectives with that, but Big N marauding and a terrogheist should keep your opponents busy

Thanks for the suggestion - I was thinking the same, but since  Morghast, Skellies and Graveguard are  all battleline I would field all the skeletons in 1 bulk of 30. I will probably fail hard, but at least I will have fun with Nagash.

My other thought was Mannfred/Arkhan lineup in either Legion of Night (with the ambushes you mentioned) or Sacrament (no idea how this will work).

I guess since I have so few battleline units, there are not so many choices. The silver lining will be that my army will look awesome (fielding either Nagash or 2x Mortarchs!)

Double mortarch sounds fun, but you’re missing out on command traits. First thought Manfred ambushing with neferata holding the line (+1 bait-save, -1to hit) but that’s not happening.

Maybe arkhan and the necro buffing the line while Manfred ambushes, could work out quite nicely.

Put the graveguard into the skellis for full horde bonus, might consider getting a handful more :D

had a nice first cohort game, but definitely hard to score.

Sacrament without battalion not really sure...

blood with neffi, necro, morghast, skellis and then terrorgheist scream

night sounds like mayhem „surpriiiiiiseee“

Ahh, clever to use the Graveguard as skellies for the full horde. I might do that with a first cohort list.
I am leaning towards that build, but I will leave the door open for a Mannfred/Arkhan list - would be cool to have Mannfred in an ambush *evil grin*.

The 'tourney' is in 1 week, so I have some time to mess around.

I will give you and update before and the games :) Thanks for the help.

You could go like this:

Allegiance: Death
Nagash Supreme Lord Of The Undead (800)
- Lores of the Dead Spell 1: Vile Transference (Vampires)
- Lores of the Dead Spell 2: Amethystine Pinions (Vampires)
- Lores of the Dead Spell 3: Overwhelming Dread (Deathmages)
2 x Morghast Harbingers (220)
- Spirit Halberds
20 x Skeleton Warriors (160)
- Ancient Spears
10 x Skeleton Warriors (80)
- Ancient Blades
10 x Grave Guard (160)
- Great Wight Blades
10 x Crypt Ghouls (100)
- Allies
Terrorgheist (300)
The First Cohort (160)

Total: 1980 / 2000
Allies: 100 / 400
Wounds: 92

Low wound count, but probably pretty fun to play. Hit your enemy with Overwhelming Dread, Morghasts debuff and skeleton banner and then attack with the Terrorgheist scream.

Thanks for the response! Don't you think a necromancer instead of the Ghouls would be better? Or is there a reason for choosing the Ghouls (objectives?)

Yes, I went with ghouls because I think that you need boots on the ground to take objectives. A necromancer is not really fully effective whitout a good target for Van Hels, although adding another spell to Nagash is pretty good.
